For context: Old lady's husband died, she sold stuff from the garage after he passed away, saw a box of grenades, thought they were replicas. 3 people bought them thinking they are replicas too, the kid was one of them. Kid still thinks it's a replica in this video until Matthew arrives to tell him not to release it.
That lady shoulda known how unstable Vietnam made her husband

You'd know it's a replica grenade cause the bottom would be hollow which means there is no charge. Or is it just me thinking to much about it cause my grandpa had some defused grenades.

I like the show but my army side cringed when he pulled the pin easy because it has 3 safeties to stop you from pulling the pin and the pins had as hell to pull, but still love the show 😅

As an "army guy" you should probably recognize that grenade as a Mk 2 grenade from 1918. The only safety on that grenade model was the pin. The pin was held in place by pressure from the lever. Once the lever is held down by a user, the pin pulls out quite easily. So yes, the kid could easily pull the pin like that.
I'm also unware of any grenade that has three safeties to be disabled before throwing. Most modern grenades have a safety clip on the pin to prevent it from being accidently pulled during transport but those are removed before carrying them into combat. Can you imagine fiddling with a tiny clip in the middle of combat before you can throw your grenade? It would take way too long. Please don't comment on what you don't know about as someone might mistake what you say for legitimate fact.

From my experience in the Military, whenever we get discharged from the service we are supposed relinquish all of our equipment and weapons because they are the property of the US Government. That grenade was supposed to remain in Military custody after the previous owner left the service, somehow I wonder how Vets took them home as souvenirs even in real life.

IN WW2 you were allowed to keep some of your equipment and war trophies... thats how you find people who have like German weapons and M1 Garands among other things from that era. Hand me downs from Gramps lol. I actually have a bayonet my grandfather brought back from a Nazi K98k. Now the grenades he would have had to walk off with, pretty sure even back then explosives were controlled.
I imagine a lot of people probably snuck some stuff out.

Standard hand grenades don’t go off just by pulling the pin. You have to release the lever/spoon which ignited the fuse and starts the countdown to the grenade going off
If that really did toss that grenade at the other kids and they all died it would've Hell of a battle with the crew, the director and the script writer

For those who don’t know the context was the old lady had a box of grenades that were her husbands. She thought they were replicas and she sold three of them at a garage sale to this kid but what I’m thinking is even if you think they’re replicas you should not sell these kind of things to children like an adult who is like, may be a collector who would be able to tell if they are replicas or real ones sure yes because they’re an adult and they can make the right decisions, but I’m still even hesitant about selling them if you’re not sure if they’re replicas or not she should’ve just brought them all to the fire station like she did with the other ones that weren’t sold at the garage sale.

the grenade doesn't really explode because you just pulled a pin, there is this thing that flies of as soon as you pull the pin, but you can hold it to cook the grenade, and as long as you're holding it the grenade wont explode
@@AX_ True, but I was told that the fuse is lit up still, though they did mention that the safety pin can be put back, that part kinda confuses me. And they did mention that regardless cooking a grenade is ill-advisable and must be thrown within 2 seconds maximum.

Funny story: when my dad did military service in 1983 (Argentina) he was a Militar police and the saergent called him to do inventary and they noticed a granade was missing.
They did a call so nobody left the base and they checked everyone, a soldier wanted to take it as a 'suvenir' (idk what happened with him, probably a STRONG punishment and even jail time)
They can just put the pin back in the grenade

This kid bought the grenade from a garage sale run by a Vietnam war veteran’s widow, who thought they were fake.
This vet was clearly unstable if he was keeping real live hand grenades.
All in all, we’re basically still paying the price for the Vietnam war. Dealing with the repercussions
