Winter Sleep Official US Release Trailer (2014) - Nuri Bilge Ceylan Drama HD
Aydin, a former actor, runs a small hotel in central Anatolia with his young wife Nihal with whom he has a stormy relationship and his sister Necla who is suffering from her recent divorce. In winter as the snow begins to fall, the hotel turns into a shelter but also an inescapable place that fuels their animosities...
Best script ever. This film is pure literature made into cinema.
GREAT FILM!!!! Nuri Blige Ceylan, undeniably a world-class filmmaker!
or the story of Anton Chekhov ;)
and the story of Anton Chekhov, indeed.
My favorite film. I always go back and watch this film once in a while and I love it so much!!
Im learning turkish lenguage thanks to this beautiful movie 😍
Seni Seviyorum Nuri Bilge Ceylan 😃
@FurkanTopal I'm a Pakistani my czn know Turkish very well he learn from Turkish series...like cukur Ramo etc.
@@AbdulMajeed-uk9mn Im Turk and I don't like most Turkish tv series. They contain a lot of clichés. But if I could suggest a few of my favorite shows(You may not find all of them with English subtitles):
1) Yedi Numara
2) Leyla ile Mecnun
3) Masum
4) Şahsiyet
You should try these. Also Kurtlar Vadisi is a serie similar genre of Ramo. I hate Ramo but first 93 episodes of Kurtlar Vadisi were perfect. You may like it.
Kesinlikle
One of the best film experiences I've ever had.
What a beautiful movie. Art before my eyes.
the sentiments that you're talking about coming from islam mysticism philosophy, actually filmmakers are secular persons and they are describing those
religious people as a narrow-minded; i am saying this as a turkish citizen, it's not the reason of bad movies of turkey. there is also good movies about islamic turkish culture like ''ulak''. this is about what turkish people want to watch, that's why turkish movies are bad. it's not about culture, i'm a panentheist, trust me islam culture is so valuable for turkish literature.
and there is a quote from v for vendetta about denying those philosophical sentiments
from the main source of the islam(quran)
''Gordon Deitrich: I didn't have to be Muslim to find the images beautiful, or its poetry moving.''
+Damo Suzuki why did you spocifically ask about saudi arabia ?
Great movie. A bit long, but very meaningful nonetheless. It resembles shakesperean and chechovian plays, while it remains original by giving an exemplary lesson on how to present multi-dimensional, intimate and realistic characters. Additionally, I loved the successful juxtaposition of Cappadocia's landscapes with the mood of those characters. My pick for the best foreign film of 2014.
Stefanos Tsougranis
I found this movie so smart and relevant with its great and difficult themes and it just goes to show how amazing 2014 was for foreign
Haqlisin
Bende bundle adlı uygulama olmasa varlığından haberim olmayacak filmin daha fragmaninda bile kendimden parçalar buldum bu akşam izleyeceğim
Sanata ve Sanatçıya saygı duyanlara Selam olsun 📽
I've watched hundreds of films and this and The Wild Pear Tree are for me among the best movies ever.
What about Uzak/Distant ?
I thought The Wild Pear Tree was underwhelming, but Winter Sleep, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia and Distant are fantastic films.
@@Helpmesubswithoutanyvideos It's my third favourite Ceylan film.
These are my favourits too. I almost cried at the ending of Wild Pear Tree. Great description of an relationship between father and son. Between pride and acceptance.

Are you asking me??? Is it geek or Greek? @Golifa Primo
Same here
Sorry it took me 7 years to ask this question but what is this movie about?
In this film, Mr. Nuri Bilge Ceylan has worked very well on a theme that touches every aspect of people. Thanks for this precious movie.
Nuri Bilge Ceylan is one of the best cineast of out time, Tarkovski of Turkey. The cinematography of his films are at the level of poetic art! A real talent in cinematographic world.
This movie is so powerful, it is so captivating yet simple. You will not realise how 3 hours pass by.
I literally just watched it. Yes the dialogues are pretty long, but you will definitely find yourself in characters. Very natural very impressive very us! Bravo.
One of the greatest movies ever made.
Last yr chennai flim festival (india) they telecasted this movie..Initially every one taught boring Movie...After the movie end every 1 want to repeat the movie once again... This z real victory of movie
Just like the map of the human soul: As a Turkish viewer, I would really like everyone in this world to have the chance of watching this masterpiece without the need for subtitles. Because there are lots of “lost in translation” moments in the superbly written dialogues. NBC’s best work to date about deep and engrossing dialogues!
Well everyone cannot study Turkish . But people will watch this with the help of subtitle
This is probably the slowest movie I've seen where I was invested the whole way through.
This girl is so beautiful. Wild natural beauty.

Man it's rare to see 3 hour movies now, they were very common back then, and about god damn time we have a 3 hour film again.

I think this is the best Nuri Bilge Ceylan movie.
This movie is better than all the American movies, combined!

A great film, it captivated me completely.
BRAVO Nuri Bilge Ceylan
"Nihal, I didn't go away. I couldn't. Whether it's because I've grown old, or I've gone mad, or because I've become a different man, think what you like. I just don't know. But this new man inside me for a few days won't let me go away. Please, don't ask me to go either. I now understand nothing is calling me to Istanbul. Everything is alien to me there as it is everywhere else. I want you to know that I have no one but you. And I miss you every minute, every second that goes by. But my pride will never let me tell you this. I know very well how terrible or impossible it would be to part from you. Just as I know that you do not love me anymore. I know we can't go back to the old days. And there is no need to. Take me with you like a servant, like a slave. And let us continue our life even if we do it your way. Forgive me." 💔

great movie
Yine Nuri Bilge yine bir sanat şaheseri. Yine insanın mutluluk arayışı, geçmişinden kurtulamama, gerçekleri birden yüze çarpışı, kararsızlıklar, sorgulamalar, içe dönüş kaçışlar, yaradılışsal zayıflıklarımız, anlayışsızlıklar, hoşgörüsüzlükler insanı insana en iyi anlatan yönetmen olabilir.
Filmi izlemeden fragmanına baktım kadro sağlam eminim ki güzeldir
A bit derivative of the great auteur Michael Bay, methinks
Yeah, great explosions!
Yeah, I think they overused Megatron a little in this one though...
The CGI effects used in the scene of which the rock cracked the window screen was marvelous.
Sepertinya seru
The cinematography is stunning ...(even if I don't know what the hell the film is about - LOL!)
It's about a wealthy, smug, educated businessman who looks down and sneers at the people of his land. Just dialogue but chilling stuff!

***** This is the beginning of a paper I wrote on about this film; I absolutely love it, and the film is fantastic in that it doesn't have a beginning and an end; it is life itself, before you; real and brutal. So here it is, to give you some perspective; "Winter Sleep’s reflection upon the inability for human connection between the wealthy and those less fortunate, dominates its study of failure, and thus, success. Set in Cappadocia, Turkey, the film begins at the start of winter, ending with a hotel blanketed with snow with the weather running its course in tandem to the evolution of human relationships and the resentments that follow. A class defined tension exists throughout the film with Aydin, the central character, representing the inability for the injured egos of the remotely rich and successful to not only connect with those deemed inferior, but with the world around them."
+Nick Zubrzycki where can i read the rest of your paper?

I read it's 3 hours and 15 minutes, is this one of those ultra slow movies were not much happens like The Turin Horse or The Tree of Wooden Clogs? I love art flicks but I do like a story that perks my interest, example Blue is the Warmest Color was 3 hours but it wasn't a boring movie.
yea. it seems like a punishing art house film like The Turin Horse which I haven't been able to go through but I will. It's different to that film though bc I heard the dialogue scenes go forever so that's another hit on the film for me because if i have to choose no dialogue or loads, I usually prefer the former. I also gave his Once Upon A Time In Anatolia film a couple gos but i haven't been able to get past the hour mark because I've fallen asleep by then but then again, I've always tried to start to watch it late at night. lol
i wasn't bored one minute, but i also like very slow cinema. it's sharply written, very deep and well constructed and will put you in a reflective, quite somber mood. i really liked it.
No I'm not into Fast and Furious that movie was shit. I just like a movie to have a really good story that pulls me in and has me captivated for 2 or 3 hours. Other 3 hours flicks i've loved are Short Cuts, Schindler's List, Blue is the Warmest Color, JFK, Godfather 2, Malcolm X, Patton, The Color Purple, etc.
*****
Thank you Aydan.
It's tough and a bit of work to get through, but it sticks with you in a strange way. But please don't compare it to The Turin Horse just because they both appear to be 'slow' arthouse films. The Turin Horse has about 5 minutes of dialogue (more like monologue actually) and is a brutal masterpiece. This one makes The Turin Horse seem like a walk in the park, because it's not easy reading subtitles for over 3 hours, especially when the dialogue is rich and deep.
Malayalikal undo?

Şöyle bir film çekmek istiyorum A kalite 🥹
3h 15min.... l don't this this movie will have a pace to keep me in a cinema for that long
you're going to have to prepared for it for sure. the dialogue scenes i heard go on forever. Also, I heard from some critics that it's not his best work. Apparently, his best are Uzak and Once Upon A Time In Anatolia.
Davin Y I'd say this is better than Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. Haven't seen Uzak.
Oh ok. As I haven't completed watching any of his films, I was only going by the Guardian critics as well as the general critical consensus. I will make up my mind when I finally see them. :)
