There’s an insatiable desire to have the largest congregation, the largest auditorium, and so many other metrics leading to an insane amount of pressure on the congregants to give and sow and donate to these endless visions.
But why is that a problem since growth is good and enables more reach for the gospel?

i have traveled over 70 countries and am still in a far country you need to know what is happening around. Satan is spending billion of dollars to quench the gospel , so that more people will go hell. so live genuine ministers alone to do their Jobs, so that more people will be resecured.

But that also does not mean that we don't pay Tithes. Will a man rob God? According to scripture, God says we put ourselves under a curse because we are robbing God. We also must sow into good biblically sound doctrined ground. And THEN GOD WILL POUR us OUT a BLESSING from Heaven that we will not have room enough to receive it, while He Himself FORSAKES the DEVOURER on our behalf 💯
I appreciate that someone finally has the guts to address this problem of monetization of religion that is festering in many denominations and amongst so called "men of God".

Yeah, I went to a church because I was jobless. After speaking to the assistant pastor, he told me to sow a seed that will move God to act in my favor. As I dey there, I no get transport fare. I simply walked away and never went back to that church.

I’m happy more & more people are becoming aware of this. My wife & I were once “victims”. We gave over N12m for purchase of church property, tithes and special seeds. This was when Naira was N147 to $1. Which was a lot of money back then. Soon as the pastor got bulk money of N8m, upgraded from N100k/year rent to N400k. Bought Nissan pathfinder SUV and sacked his wife of many years with whom he started the church. Went straight and married a younger girl who gave birth barely 1year after he got rid of his wife. This was one of those unknown churches, but I encountered same everywhere including MFM where we primarily worshiped. I’m not a Christian in the Nigerian sense anymore though I continue to believe in God & serve him, but will never be affiliated with or enter any church again for rest of my life. It’s a huge scam even here in America and especially in Nigeria.
Can you just dash a stranger a fraction of that amount today the way you dashed your pastor that particular year?

My brother Jude Bela, I am so thankful for your video. I am also a Pastor and gets sad with the way some pastors have turned the Churches into a financial institution and not interested in winning souls.
I was given an allowance in Joyful Way Inc. [A Ghanaian Gospel Musical group] when I was the Administrator. Apart from that allowance which was mainly used as my T&T, I have been a Pastor for many decades, but REFUSED A SALARY or taken the money of the church.
Its not wrong for Pastors to be given a salary, but I decided to be an example even when I pastored two different Churches. Like Apostle Paul, i work with my own hands to make money to feed my family.

I visited Nigeria recently, Christian religion is the fast growing business in the country.
Thank you for not throwing the baby out with the water. A lot of pastors in charismatic circles have lost it and have gone deep in manipulation schemes to make believers part with their money. I am a believer in Christ Jesus and like what you described, I believe in giving freely to the work of God. Many Pastors have turned the gospel into a huge Ponzi scheme where the only one who profits is the one at the top. The Gospel is the message of Christ dying for the forgiveness of the sins of Mankind. Nothing to do with Material prosperity and all what is being preached these days. Thank you for speaking up. Remember my friends, these are churches founded by individuals for themselves and members of their family. They make up the governing body and are answerable to no one. The doctrine therefore is malleable and can be made to serve any pecuniary need. I come in peace.

I once walked out on a church service in Ikeja when the head pastor requested members that wanted to sow seeds come out for special prayer. He even had tiers ( 1m, 2m, 5m, etc). Each tier had a different level of prayers. All these happened there on the stage.
Something in me just told me "get out". I took off before my friends even noticed I had left.
The prosperity gospel has so weakened the faith of most Christians, some have been made to believe that they will become prosperous, simply because they have given to the church and in most cases not giving cheerfully, but giving only for wanting something bigger in return, making them feel entitled to God's mercies and favour, and some even turnout to blame God, if things didn't pan out as they were told it would
Thank God eyes are beginning to open, I will be so happy if 20 years from now churches in Nigeria turn to museums or factories or schools, by then we can now day development in Africa has begun.

I grew up in CGAC which has same doctrine as CAC and around the 80/90s, the church was about your soul, how close you are to Jesus. The pastors were genuinely after your soul and believe in God. But from early 2000s things changed especially with the growth of modern prosperity churches. Churches now focus on the highest bidder, money driven organizations with pastors seeking power, material gains in the name of prosperity gospel. Things have really changed, really badly.

Mr Jude's observations is apt to some extent, but we must be careful not to generalise. But I agree with him. We must not forget to tithe according to the scriptures but not by coercion.

You can imagine, as a heaven gatekeeper that he is.
This doesn't only apply to pentecostal churches or evangelical churches. This equally applies to orthodox churches too. As a catholic, my experience in it made me to stop donating to it. The truth is that the catholic church is among the richest organisations in the world, this is why their priests can live lavishly and eat as many times as they want a day without most of their members even eating once a day. Don't get me wrong, I believe in charity donations but not in donating to the church. Whenever I attend the Mass I don't make any donations and I never pay 10 percent of my monthly income. Instead, I rather donate it to someone in the community or society who needs it the most. I prefer rendering my help directly to the people who needs it than to a church who does not lack anything. My family don't like it but i don't care. Religion is a huge scam when handled or managed or practiced by the wrong people with evil intentions. Be aware and stay focused. I believe in helping the poor (or needy) rather than paying tithes or offerings in church (which I don't expect in rare or special occasions).
From my earnings, I give out more than 10% most times and more than 20% at times!
I don't believe that paying tithes or offerings in church or sowing seeds in church would make you rich.
I actually believe that planting the right seed at the right place and the right time is the key to having abundance.
And in the event that you reaped where you least expected (or where you didn't plant), I believe it's either a miracle or you planted forgetfully. There's always a place of you doing something before a result-Newton's law of motion.
Nothing is actually random or arbitrary in life. There are always hidden trends or patterns.

From prosperity gospel to franchise model churchs, the 'body' of christ is so unrecognizable. I myself have left the church. I used to be a giver, until when i realized my giving was unto ridiculous missions.

Ever wondered how people in power become employees/ pastors so quickly but bypass doctrinal processes of obtaining positions? The process of 'cleaning' ill gotten wealth is such sinister act that the church has aided for years. We just dont have enough whistleblowers and journalists that would do the investigative work of exposing these churches. The rabbit hole is so deep. The problem with us Christians is that we have been brainwashed not to ask questions. We internalize challenging leadership as a form of blasphemy.
@judeuzochukwu1180 good for you. I wasn't drawn by big personalities, fortunately. I lost interest when the church tried to kill my curiosity but wanted to capitalize on my time and money. I sought God for myself, and my spiritual life has been awesome.

Your story is similar to mine, only that i have left the church completely. I loved giving to the church as long as it was going to the missionary work, the widows and welfare.
Learning my money was going to the general overseers to fund their jets and schools broke me into pieces , i couldn't cope at all.
I have grown past that stage now but i still get angry every time i see these pastors drive jets and their members are looking for food the next day
I understand the anger, and it's justified. Going forward, we can help humanity without going through religious middlemen.
Their children and the pastors spend more time overseas enjoying modern medicine and schools while their members in poor countries keep suffering.

I attend RCCG and I’m a worker in the ushering unit. Sad to say that my church makes a lot of money from tithes and offerings that could be used for development, but for years we have been struggling. We had to open a church project account for specific projects funding and free will donations. I still wonder why we send 70% to the headquarters every week and are left with meager 30% even with the biting economy. RCCG please do better.
Jesus did not die for denominations, your staying there is your choice.
During my school days, i lived close to a Muslim dominated area called Gariki. One faithful day, some fellow students from a church close by came to our lodge for envangelism. I was forced to call their attention to the fact that everyone leaving in the lodge were Christians. It didn't really make sense to me that they were trying to win souls amongst Christians of other denominations, whereas you could easily take a stroll to Gariki where non Christians (Muslims) resided. As far as i was concerned, converting one Muslim brother alone would make more sense than preaching a million times to other Christians who have known Jesus all their lives. Them sha tire for me 😂
I asked this same question to my mom once, when her church was to establish another parish as is their practice every year. In the neighbourhood that the new church was to be planted, I sure there were at least 3 churches. I was like”why don’t they cross over to the Muslim side and establish one church?” 😅Obviously, Safty concerns would’ve been a big enough deterrent.

The truth is always bitter!
You effortlessly brought out a major issue in the Christendom. It really needs to be addressed head-on if not the gullible and vulnerable are doomed.
I appreciate your heartfelt message especially the issue with charity and tithe. Either charity to the poor or giving to the church or tithe , I personally see all as offering unto God. Let me just say that knowledge in the body of Christ is progressing. There is no perfect church or administration. The lapses we notice in the church today should be noted and should serve as an improvement for the next generation. A lot of spiritual leaders are really really working, praying, healing, giving to poor , building schools , working miracles private jets cannot buy. This message should not stop anyone from giving or going to church. The church is getting better. Let’s also appreciate men who have built mega churches. It takes effort to build a hut. To young ministers don’t seek the results or prosperity first , first seek the kingdom, do your due diligence, don’t put pressure on yourself or use a mega church or private jet as your yardstick of success in ministry, let God lead you and every blessing you need will come to you.
Well said sir👍.......this is balance....the lapses in todays church is our work tomorrow. The church should be a continuum until it gets to perfection..I know there's lot of fraud in todays church, but that's not to negate the truth that there's blessing in giving....am a testimonial to the blessing of giving to the needy, offering and tithe.

What you are saying is 1000000% true. Keep on teaching.
Better give to the least of your brothers. That's what Jesus recommended, and it's more powerful than "sowing a seed."

From what I also heard, even from our house helpers, they would donate to their churches whether they had enough money for food to eat or not. It wasn't like Zakat, which requires you to meet a certain gold or silver rate before you can give. Otherwise, you're a receiver, not a donor.
Nigeria has a productivity problem. Its citizens spend far too much time and money in religious houses praying for God to help them, instead of using their time to produce something to help themselves😅

To be candid and to express my thoughts about the Savior complex, the true story of Jesus Christ and his teachings, if properly interpreted is that he was an example that those who want a regulated way of life should follow. As it is in heaven, so it is on earth. In short, waiting for a savior is not the true path, following in the footsteps of the savior is. Human beings are lazy in virtually every endeavor and want someone else to accomplish something difficult on their behalf; so those who pay tithes to churches deserve being cheated out of their hard earned money. If an individual cannot save themselves by following the simple rules of life, then not even Jesus can save them.

Am always amazed seeing alot of poor people and jobless graduates in many churches in this country,they go to church almost evryday n no any form of program set within the church to help them,or even have a kind of collections every sunday to alleviate the suffering in the country n lack of employment even within the church members..

Yes! This has to be said and you have said it! Me, my tithe is given to the less privileged, not to the church! My wife disagrees but that's her own opinion. My church is now about politicians outdoing themselves in donations. They hardly see the hungry members. Their case is practically hidden and dismissed. You need to say more oh!
