Enjoy your youth but prepare for getting old. If you think working when you're young sucks, it get's worse the older you get unless you can get a cushy job that pays well (not everybody can).
I’ll be honest with you yes I do like my job, and yes I would still do it if they cut my pay 50% but I wouldn’t allow it. I’ve retired at 40 as a carpenter of new homes, and skyscrapers. What I learned is I can’t completely stop working, sorry working I can stop I mean being active.
What’s even better than coast FI is coast semi-FI or coast barista FI! Knowing you could take a job making $25K a year and live comfortably with that alongside 4% of your portfolio is a pretty empowering milestone on the way to full FI.
I do actually love my job. However, I just recently switched jobs (I didn't mind my last one either). If my job reduced my salary by 50% currently, I don't think I could stay unless I picked up a second job. If I didn't have debt, including the mortgage, and I only had ongoing expenses then 50% cut would probably be doable. I've always told myself and others that I'd like to be in a financial spot where I go to work because I want to and not because I have to.
Love the channel - thanks for all the tips and knowledge ! Would love your thoughts or maybe an episode on UTMA/UGMA / 529 / Custodial Brokerage accounts, etc. Really want to get my kids started since they're young but could use some guidance and thought around it. Thank you!
I like the idea of coast fi. And agree with the logic. However, I disagree with the coasting for that long. For me, it takes too many assumptions into play. Maybe you don't have to be so aggressive, and enjoy the money more, but keep going and live well later.
I enjoy my work yes No if it paid less it probably be my fault because it would mean I'm not doing enuff work But I am getting closer to wanting to retire at 45
I sure would not be working for the company the signs my checks if the were cut 50% and I would never ever consider trying to work there for free, I dislike my job borderline hate, but it’s all apart of the process

I'll be sitting here COASTING.
Before my CoastFI Video comes out, check out this video next: ua-cam.com/video/-bgJAp0gFY0/v-deo.html
Thanks Bob. I took your financial advice and quit my job today. I feel excited about the future.

Thank you for this!
Bob Sharpe, This is amazing! I can't stop smiling!
Thank you!!
Minimizing monthly expenses makes financial independence that much quicker. It's truly amazing what compound interest can do to a retirement account.

Yes!!!
What about health coverage in this scenario for coast fi?
Not a fan of my job, very unfulfilling and I don’t improve any skills, I’d quit even if they raise our pay

I punched in my numbers and it just made me depressed.😢
Most of it will come down to the rate of return and inflation.
Same here 😭 Guess I'll work until I die or society collapses 😭😭😭
Honestly I will continue my job
great video!
Thank you!

Bob, do you have high dividend stocks? I somewhat like my job but its labor intensive 9 to 4 type job. I get home exhausted.
Yes I’ve got a few 😁

Yea I do love my job and I couldn't afford to if my pay was cut by 50% plus that would be way below minimum wage, so would be illegal 😂
My actual age? Aight, Imma head out
🤣
I'm glad no math applies ... someone keeps changing "math", does 2 x 2 even equal 8 anymore
What is "math", anyway?
I've got teenage kids, they'll need cars, starting college, medical insurance etc etc etc. Never ends. The stress would kill me.

Don't quit your job!!!

theres no math in this part. except for the 10 pages of math
🤣
@@BobSharpe
No I don't
😢
No and absolutely not....
I really wonder who was the target audience for this video? Americans only? Milionairs only?
Every penny is your war chest advice from an old dude
