I don’t get the reporting on these crazy prices. I got mine for £900 pre release offer. 16GB RAM and X Plus. For me the performance is not far off a M3 Air which costs in the UK £1100 for only 8GB RAM. That left money spare for a keyboard (last gen, don’t need the wireless one) and a pen? I can also upgrade the HDD myself whereas you can’t on a Mac. So for me very comparable. Weakness… I would imagine and as other reviews alude to…. Macs are better for video editing.
I run a tax business on an old Surface Go. These things are portable. I plug an Anker dongle and hook up a display and a wireless mouse. Although I'm over due for an upgrade I think they're great. This guy does not get it. Been using Macs since 84 and like them as well, but the Surface is also a great piece of tech.
@@AnthonyRosasif you compare it to MacBook prices it is a good price, but for the other windows OEMs do everything pc related better and cheaper. And how many times do you need to use both functionalities in the same day? For portability the creator makes a good point in space usage.
Say you love your ipad without saying you love your ipad. I have both the ipad and the surface. The more i get familiar with the surface the better i like it.
What is the purpose of this port? To prevent you from knocking your laptop over, and in a tablet there likely isn't enough space for anything but a headphone jack Why did they design the pencil like that? Its a lot harder to lose and has an actual side and eraser button that the apple pencil lacks along with software agnostic support Why does it take up so much space? Because that's how you have to design it if you don't want it to weight 15kg The keyboard isn't that good? That's a restriction of the space afforded to it, and the surfacw flex keyboard fixes that I use a surface pro for school, Intel version, and my only complaint is a non hdr display and battery life, that's it
Bingo. You perfectly sum up an actual Surface Pro user's experience. I use mine for work. My work would have bought me a laptop, but as someone with a bad back, the weight is key. I agree that it is pricey, but for actual work production, it's great. I don't use the pencil, so that is a non-factor to me.
Damn, so you tell me I am doing everything wrong after being a proud Surface owner for over 5 Years? Yes, I do use my Surface on my lap comfortably in university, yes I use it as a full computer setup combined with the Surface dock with two additional monitors, yes I write A LOT on my surface and it is really comfortable. I think you not even tried to use the Surface in real working situations otherwise you would be surprised how well it handles most situations. I am happy, not to carry an IPad AND a Laptop to university every day, this would be too much. So after 5 years I can say that the 2 in 1 Surface pro is definitely a good thing. Best Regards
@@XTec_0815 I hear you on these points you raised. I’ve also enjoyed surfaces over the last 5 or so years and this latest one for me is the best purely because the weak link was battery and fans and this one fixes that. Okay so you're only valid point you had throughout this entire video was the poor stand design. You're trying to make a 1 on 1 comparison between two products targeting a different audience. Not to mention the comparisons you're attempting to make are really unreasonable. You're trying to compare keyboards, yet actual laptops have a more open space inside of the body giving more room for a better design. And honestly the keyboards feel great compared to most. I have a $150 Chromebook next to me and miles apart in how they feel. Your argument for the pencil is that you don't like the way it feels? Maybe hop off the iPad for a few weeks to actually test and get a real feel for it? It's all subjective, but when you're use to a certain feel then trying something new won't feel too great. Plus, it also super subjective. I've had both and I feel like the gripping on the surface pencil is better than the Apple pencil. The entire point of the magnetic charger is to be a save mechanism for you or someone else potentially walking through the charging wire and not pulling the entire unit with it.
Can't use it on your Lap? Just detach the keyboard and use it like an iPad for iPad like tasks (note taking, watching UA-cam/movies). Need to use it as full fledged computer, palce it on a desk. Simple as that.
What a terrible review man. At 4:00 You talk about the space it takes up without once mentioning the fact the keyboard is self charging and able to be used while disconnected from the laptop, actually reducing the space needed to next to nothing. Like wtf...
I see this guy extremely biased and he can't get the most out of the device, he doesn't understand the possibilities. It's basically and Ipad that runs windows, if you want to see it that way I suppose. That means you can use full grown up computer software in a tablet!. As a design student, you have no idea of how useful is being able to use the pen directly on your device, it's not just silly writing, you can use an Illustration software on it and not just procrate. The pen is great compared to a digital drawing tablet, it's a worthy opponent, maybe some people will like more the "paper like" texture of some drawing tablets screen, but I like the "whiteboard glass" texture. There are some features I like from the apple pencil, such as being able to charge it don the device without relying on the external keyboard, but generally I actually like more how the flat slim pen 2 is. And I can say it as a person who has done digital illustration, as well as I noticed that the screen detects beatifully when you are using your actual finger or if you just are laying down your hand and it doesn't confuse themn wich is quite impressive since in even Wacom tablets the detection is so bad you just disable all touch inputs most of the times. The argument of "not being able to use it on your lap" it's silly. Use it as a tablet then, fold the keyboard back, and if you need to write something use the touch keyboard on the scren, as well as I don't see anyone being productive using a device on their lap, that's the kind of thing you do to consume content, and it's not ergonomic for long working sessions. The trackpad is great for being a cover, it's not a actual laptop keyboard, I doubt there are any keyboard covers that manage to be able to have a good trackpad in such little space, but I would complain about the price. I do like the pen slot in where it won't get lost, but I certainly don't like how you need the keyboard to charge the pen. All and all, I can see that these are comments from an unexperienced and close minded person who can't even imagine the advantages of the format of the device they are using or right away jumping into the old Microsoft vs Apple riot again.
I still don't understand the advantage over a pc and tablet combo, that leaves you with more versatility in every single way except for ease of use. Other than the fact that a pc that comes without the keyboard is silly at best. And you need to count the fact that the new ones have chips that are telephone chips on trenbolone that have compatibility issues with some programs
Your arguments about the 2-in-1 taking up too much space or being too awkward to use for students apply to every device like it. Do students today tote around their laptops? Nobody writes with pen and paper? It's a lot more convenient than taking out a giant electronic slab when you can use a notebook and pen. But typing is much faster if you're any good at it. I think manufacturers may cater too much to looks and not enough to practical concerns. Those stupid enough to pay thousands of dollars every year or two for something nice to use are the audience, not people who want to buy a great device that will last them years and increase their productivity. By the way, why are you showing off a MacBook with a touchbar? Is that what you have instead of something current? Is the keyboard the same as a modern MacBook or does it have a butterfly keyboard? Honestly, you didn't have a lot to say, did you? Maybe be willing to redo videos or develop your opinions. Don't be so time-consumingly obvious in what you say that it's almost annoying to watch a 10-minute video of it.
Why compare it to a Mac air but not the iPad when this isn't the laptop studio 2 and instead of the tablet surface pro? The surface pro is a tablet 2 in 1 and not a laptop but still has the full windows OS which means you can do everything you would on a laptop. The iPad isn't a part of macOS and doesn't have the ability to do everything a Mac could and this is where you really missed the mark.
I don't think it's competing with an iPad air, I think it's competing with the iPad Pro which is about the same price, except this can do a lot more because it's not limited by iPad OS. Also I agree that the default surface stylus is not the best, but supports 3rd party stylus, all of them feature full and a lot of them are really good so you have the choice to buy a better stylus instead. Most apple pencil alternatives are missing features cause apple doesn't allow 3rd parties to use their tech
I grabbed the elite for 1299 and an open box pro flex keyboard for 220 in the US. You can definitely use this without a problem on a smaller surface or your lap. Just walk into a store that has the product and test it out before buying it. You're better off getting a surface pro instead of buying an ipad and a keyboard which will probably make your tablet weigh more than a laptop. Don't let this video steer you away. This guy's page is all about apple products. He's bias.
We are on the 11th surface. The form factor has been the same the whole time. this like showing up to McDonalds and judging them poorly because they dont have steak. Its a niche product.
Yeah, I don't know... I used a SP7 back when I was in high school last year and I enjoyed using it. The keyboard is amazing. Yes, the battery life was dogshit but I always used it in low brightness (all the way at the bottom) and I had no issue with the kickstand.
In last 10 years, this is the first time I'm hearing someone complain about Surface Pro's form factor. This 2-in-1 form factor isn't designed for everyone in the first place. If someone wants to use it on their laps then better to buy a laptop. Surface Pro has its own productivity points and that's why it has a specific target audience.
The solution to most of these issues is just not getting the expensive as hell accessories. It's great in combination with a bluetooth keyboard, you can put the surface wherever and type on your lap. It also works great as a second monitor because you can do all the touch stuff on it that you can't do on your PC. The ports issue I agree but that's sadly become the norm, not like Apple is any better at this.

Yes. Even MS has given up on Windows tablets by abandoning the Android subsystem for Windows. MS made a stupid mistake when iPads arrived by saying they were useless and that Windows tablets were the biz, despite everyone hating them. They regretted this quickly and would not admit it, so they continued on their merry way when they could have gone Android, and now MS is nothing in the tablet market. The SP11 remains significantly compromised, although a diminishing number of fans will continue to praise it. If it was cheaper to compensate for the experience, maybe it would not face falling sales, but the OLED version is around two times the cost of an OLED Android tablet, so sensible people can buy an X Elite laptop with the Tab S9 Ultra for a similar price. I would say that that option (or Intel/AMD) is highly recommended. SP11 is barely an average laptop and a miserable tablet.

haha microsoft hater over there
SP11 is barely an average laptop and a miserable tablet.
my guess is youve never used a surface pro and your just blabbing bs youve heard online. So due to your dumb brain i wont be suprised
