Thanks to the video, we did it ourselves this year and we are more than happy with the outcome! We even donated some money at the end for the basic service, and it is totally worth it. It's free only for the first two declarations (2 years). Third year you must pay $25+tax for each year. As for the tax return, it's definitely not going to get you the maximum, even for a very simple situation. Fortunately the govt will check it and give you the amounts you didn't ask for.

Will these 7 months (no Income so no Tax) be counted within the "1095 days" the government mandates? Appreciate your response
You have declare any income and expenses made for your business. Depending on what type of business it is( sole prop or corporation) the process for filing is different. I recommend hiring a professional accountant to help with that
Hi, I recently filed for my wife and her son to come to Canada. Do we qualify to receive Tax credit for dependecy of the child even though they are not as yet in Canada?
You cannot include your phone bills, unless you have a business and use it for business, which also needs to be reported. As for transportation - we’ve included that on the video, depending on the province you might be able to - please check out canada.ca and your provincial website for more info.
Hey just wanna ask you a question. My study visa has been approved and my school starts in September. Can i come to canada 2 months before school starts? Thank you
According to Canada.ca website you can arrive at any point, as long as you have the visa approved and all your travel documents valid www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare-arrival.html
I filed my taxes with Wealthsimple. I cant log into CRA. How do I log into CRA. I used sign-in partner as my Bank. But didnt work. says "The information you entered does not match our records". First time filing by myself.
yes you're still required to declare your income, even if it's zero. Interest earned is also taxable. check this : www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/about-your-tax-return/you-have-file-a-return.html
You would have to mail in your own tax return if you want to do it yourself. Alternatively, you could hire a certified accountant to help you with that. This is only because you’re filing for the first time.
"Did you become a resident of Canada (immigrate) for income tax purposes in 2023?" , I should select "Yes" right ? January 2023 I am still under PGWP (student visa/work visa) but by Feb 2023 I became a Permanent resident. What should I answer? Reply
My understanding wealthsimple takes info you input and generate the appropriate forms to be submitted to the CRA. What are the usual forms used for the average single person with employment income?
You can ask your employer to prepare an amended slip ideally, with the unit number, but it might take time for them. Overall, if you are completing your return online, you are asked to enter your home address during the process - make sure it's correct in your return - that's the most important part. Addresses can change throughout the year, so it's not too big of a deal if address on the T4 is not accurate, just make sure it's accurate on your return filing! This is not tax advice - we recommend you call CRA to double check though!
If you live and work in Canada you are a tax resident. If you spend less than 183 days and have no credit accounts in Canada ( eg lease, bank, etc) - you’re not a tax resident. Please check out Canada.ca for a full definition as there are nuances to this.
Make sure you have input all the T4 and other forms you have and have filled all the got boxes. If CRA confirmed things are good on their end, it must be the way you’re filling it out on your end. Consider reaching out to Wealthsimple support .

You will file taxes even if you didn't have a job. And it doesn't influence your eligibility for citizenship
I am a business partner. My income portion is 15% of the business' income. How does this affect my tax filing? I also have a t4 from my 9-5 job.
You can only claim that for the year you family has lived in Canada.
Can i include my phone bill and bus card monthly expense?
You cannot include your phone bills, unless you have a business and use it for business, which also needs to be reported. As for transportation - we’ve included that on the video, depending on the province you might be able to - please check out canada.ca and your provincial website for more info.
Hey just wanna ask you a question. My study visa has been approved and my school starts in September. Can i come to canada 2 months before school starts? Thank you
According to Canada.ca website you can arrive at any point, as long as you have the visa approved and all your travel documents valid

I filed my taxes with Wealthsimple. I cant log into CRA. How do I log into CRA. I used sign-in partner as my Bank. But didnt work. says "The information you entered does not match our records". First time filing by myself.
You’ll need to call CRA and troubleshoot with them.
As far as I know first timer needed to send CRA by mail to record your information then you can use MyCRA for the next time you fill tax return
where should i put my business expenses ?

Hi, I'm new immigrant, I don't have job here in Canada, any required forms I should fill in? a have a bit GIC interest, thanks for your video.
yes you're still required to declare your income, even if it's zero. Interest earned is also taxable. check this : www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/about-your-tax-return/you-have-file-a-return.html
How do I get my CRA account for the first time because they ask for my previous tax for which I do not have. It is my first time.
Where are you asked about previous tax?
Creating a CRA account requires previous tax filing. But it is my first time filing tax and I want to do it myself.
You would have to mail in your own tax return if you want to do it yourself. Alternatively, you could hire a certified accountant to help you with that.
This is only because you’re filing for the first time.
Hi, I finished to fill my taxes , I tried to submit it but it didn't work, kindly help?
What was the error message you received?
Hello, can I start the application, save it and come back later?
Yes
Hy , I landed here on December, 2023 and I am unemployed . Do I need to file taxes ?
No, until you work atleast 6 month
"Did you become a resident of Canada (immigrate) for income tax purposes in 2023?" , I should select "Yes" right ?
January 2023 I am still under PGWP (student visa/work visa) but by Feb 2023 I became a Permanent resident. What should I answer?

They have this explained on CRA website abt the residency situation, you can check it
My understanding wealthsimple takes info you input and generate the appropriate forms to be submitted to the CRA. What are the usual forms used for the average single person with employment income?
Hey , I see my unit number is not there on T4 but I want to add it on tax return - so it is possible ? I am filing for the first time .
@@MakeThatChange perfect as I heard CRA sends some code via post when u file for the first time so has to have the unit number .
@@arshS27 yes they do, they use the address from you last tax report, not from T4
@@MakeThatChange perfect thanks ; and what is the usual fee of getting done from CPA ?
Around $100, but also depends on your case. Try to find a reliable CPA with good reputation through references
Hello who is a tax resident and who is not a tax resident? Thank you!
If you live and work in Canada you are a tax resident.
If you spend less than 183 days and have no credit accounts in Canada ( eg lease, bank, etc) - you’re not a tax resident.
Please check out Canada.ca for a full definition as there are nuances to this.
What about car? Where can I put my car info
Please visit Canada.ca to get more info on your specific situation and whether your car can be deducted.
I'm an international student came in 2024 March.
Should I have to file a tax this year or not??
No. You will file next year for the year 2024
@@MakeThatChange Oh okay thank you
It looked relatively simple enough.
It is!
It says the information from tax filing doesn’t match in the cra
Make sure you have input all the T4 and other forms you have and have filled all the got boxes. If CRA confirmed things are good on their end, it must be the way you’re filling it out on your end. Consider reaching out to Wealthsimple support .
