    I love this: you show a skater performing a technique and provide feedback on why it's not working or how to make it better. I could definitely see the improvement by the end of the video. Just awesome!

    Finally! A video that addresses common problems. 🙂 I actually took up inline skating a week ago (intermediate ice skater here), and I'm having issues with my forward weak side crossover and backwards crossovers. I'm gonna try what you said tomorrow morning.

    I can't belive how quickly and simply Asha identifies and corrects issues! Boom and fixed (albeit with some drills to work on) If the whole world spent a week with @skatefresh, everyone would be better on skates than we are in a pool and on push bikes combined... makes me wonder if we were actually destined to have wheels on our feet.

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  4 роки тому

      Bless you. Yes I can see what's wrong immediately with any skater on pretty much any skill (whether Ic an do that skill or not). It's very clear and easy for me after all these years of practice. And if you can identify exactly what's wrong then it's much more efficient to fix it. That's why in my online courses I have "Common problems and how to fix them" sections in all skills because most people make 80% of the same problems. If you haven't seen those check them out for free. Full class list in Description of this video.

      @@SkatefreshVideos I almost religiously, follow all your videos here and your free online courses. They are amazing and have helped me soo much over my progression from baby bambi on wheels to near confident but awkward skater. Case in point, I was doing my first ever backwards practice session after watching one of your videos, and serendipitously a guy walked past who was an ex roller hockey coach, when I asked how I was doing and he said, "your position and weight distribution is nicely forward", which was one of the main points from your video that I had picked up on. I'm only 3 sessions into fakie skating but your advice on this has saved me so many times!!! Every time I skate I'm doing at least a couple of your drills. Legend, pure legend, thank you!

    Good instruction Asha, make the inside edge better and to place the right skate more wide. Just like I do with figureskating on ice . Because of the big wheels I have 80mm diameter I find it less stable compare it with figureskating on ice but you get used to it. Keep up the good work.

    • @SkatefreshVideos

    Her crossovers gets much butter when her grab your hands! Just like me in Rio. Forget all the techniques, the secret is your hand Asha! Just kidding hahah. It reminds me my private classes, I miss it!

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  6 років тому

      I miss our classes too Marcelo. Imagine my magic hand. Neother of you actually put weight in that hand it's just a psychological help and your brain relaxes and the mini fear goes away (that's why things improve with the hand). Also with the hand the knee bend is better (with the relaxation) so I use it to help the student's body "feel" how it really should be, usually in Slow-Motion so you don't skip the hard parts. You will be in the Brazilian series of these tutorials next year. Watch out!!!

    • @psocretes8183
      @psocretes8183 6 років тому +1

      When I was learning to skate the one thing that really improved my ability to learn new tricks / techniques quickly was to bend the knees loads. Keep really low and skate slowly. Most people skate too upright and too fast when they are learning. In fact, there are few situations where skating low doesn't improve your skating.

    2 pontos a se prestar atenção ao fazer um cross-over de costas:. Ao cruzar, a perna que segue deve estar em base centralizada, evitando a todo custo ficar em uma base externa.. Ao descruzar os pés devem ficar distantes uns dos outros, em uma distância aproximada como a de seus ombros.
    Afora isso, preste atenção ao tempo em que realiza este movimento, tente fazer o mais lento possível, o mais perfeito possível e o mais agachado possível.
    É natural mesmo fazendo o movimento em câmera lente sentir um significativo aumento de velocidade.

    Asha doesn't "instruct", she teaches. There's a HUGE difference between the two and it's what makes her students get real results. It's dressage for skaters and, as any equestrian will tell you, without a good foundation in dressage, you have little to nothing.

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  6 місяців тому +1

      I;ve always said that skating needs an official set of "foundation movements" that beginners embrace on their journey and we keep refining and adding to those, and maintaining good form as the difficulty increases. It's the syllabus of my school and the content of my real life and online lessons..... What I share on UA-cam is however a much distilled and incomplete version of this.

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  3 роки тому +1

      Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. The legs change roles continuously. When you cross the weight is on the leg that is "over" leaving the other free for pushing, when you uncross the weight goes to the leg that just finished the push, and the other that now is outside is the one pushing.

      @@SkatefreshVideos Thanks Sergio but at 2:40 Asha tells her to roll into cross's not to step.

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  2 роки тому

      Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Right, but I said "in order to uncross" and I was talking about the leading foot. Asha said "roll into cross" because Dijana is picking up her trailing foot to cross and you shouldn't do that on inline skates, you actually use your toe as a pivot and then flip the heel to roll into cross. It's a very subtle move so that foot is never completely in the air and you don't see space between wheels and ground. In forward crossovers you do pick up the foot but it's also subtle, in that case it's like 1 or 2 cm only. The subtler it's done the smoother it looks.
