Rober Smith is a Giant! And The Cure a really interesting and Deep Band. Their whole discography goes through so many different moods. I just love them !
Thank you gor this one. Seen them several times, as well in their beginning years in very small venues, max. 500 people and later at big festivals, up to 60.000! One of my all time favs.
Lol. During my secondary school years, it became kind of a running gag amongst a couple of friends. As soon as the radio played a Robert Palmer song, we shouted "F[...] Robert Palmer! F[...] rock 'n' roll!" And then we laughed and had a beer.... or just a cup of tea. 😉
One of my all time fav band. Side note. Earlier in the Year our Australian broadcasting Radio Channel. ABC. Had a casual competition for top bands voted by the listeners. Pitting bands with same first letter. So Cure went up against Cold chisel. Then voted fav again by the Listeners. The Aussie listeners voted The cure as their fav. I was super happy.
Am I the only one who thinks, by a huge margin, that this is their best and my favorite song? Glad I heard a few years later because I probably wouldn't have liked it when it came out. I was a huge rocker and just getting into music, I was locked into it and out of anything else. Great stuff.
Fascination street, one hundred years, last dance, disintegration, the walk... I could list at least 5 other songs off a single album. This was very early cure and to think they didn't improve in every dept between 79 and 89 is madness. I heard it in real time and it was the same with Depeche Mode, both hit a peak around 89/90. You can't compare this with at least half a dozen songs off disintegration alone.
@@Darrenski I know it was early. Still, even though I only first heard of them in '84 (freshman) and loved their stuff from then on, once I we t back ans heard the early one, this stuck and still does.
I was at college @ the time this track came out. I bought the 12 inch on the day of release. (I first saw them when I was 15 and then walked 6 miles home afterwards). But yeah, this track was seminal and I played it non stop for weeks.
Thanks for covering this brilliant track from the cure. They had a unique sound and have always been great live. I love the way the piece starts with each track being slowly added. Interestingly this would never be released today since streaming services insist on hitting the vocals within 20 seconds or so. Thanks to you for your intelligent and natural commentary on the track.
This is very early Cure (1981)they developed and came into their own in the mid 80’s. If you get a chance check out “the cure live in Orange” from 1986. I MO it’s the Cure at their very very best 👍
They do a track called "If only tonight we could sleep" - not only is it a beautiful song but the lyrics are pure poetry! Give it a listen, you'll love it!
One of best 80's bands!! Check out these bangers: "Just Like Heaven".. "The Walk".. "Close to Me".. "NEVER ENOUGH".. "In between Days".. "The Lovecats".. and fave "Charlotte Sometimes".. Cheers
This performance might have set a precedent - because this particular song owes much of its fame to the fact that, for a period of about eleven years (from the last dates of the '84 tour to the middle of the '96 tour), they would always play extended versions in concert, with adlibbed vocals as well as extended guitar solos. Robert has been inconsistent over the years as to whether the song has any literal meaning, or how broad the lyrical metaphor is... Most Cure line-ups have Robert's minimalistic "rhythm as lead" guitarwork set against a more fluid lead player (Thompson, Bamonte, or Gabrels) - but it's still Robert who plays the extended solos in songs like this one, 100 Years (sometimes), Pornography (sometimes), The Kiss, Snakepit, Forever/Three, and maybe one or two more.
I have the 7" vinyl sleeve of A Forest hand signed by the original keyboardist Matthieu Hartley (1979 -1980) an EXTREMELY RARE autograph to obtain, as he rarely signed! C 01/08/23
"This just is the case. Parting is such sweet sorrow. Not knowing where the time will go. It's such a long end, it's such a long end, such a long end..." They really were having fun touring for their 2nd album and didn't want to say goodbye to the crowd so soon. I felt the sadness from Robert Smith and the anger from the bassist (Simon Gallup)!
My The Cure fav song ever! Behemoth a Polish black metal band do Awesome cover from this...!! ❤ By the way. Today is anniversary pass away from Syd Barrett ...you need to react the long full version from "Shine on you crazy diamond" by Pink Floyd
My favorite live version of this song, it is always known for me to be the F Robert Palmer version. They were told to cut their performance short to get Robert Palmer on stage sooner, hence the playing out the song longer with the such a long song line over and over and then the end when Simon yells F Robert Palmer..such a great attitude from that time period vs now.. the punk attitude coming out.
This is pobabbly one of my fav songs, especially this ver... Sure can tell thgis is a young Robert Smith... The hair... lol... Would love to see your reaction to Lullaby ( Music video ) and thats all I am going to say about that... except would you sing that lullaby to your kids.... I could probably list a few cure songs that your probably have heard of your just never knew who sang those songs.... Christmas is approaching, time to start making those christmas time song requests lists... Have you heard the Pogues Fairy tale of Bew york
My favourite band ever, been listening to them since '79.... Noone comes close to their sound, Robert Smith could be England's greatest poet! Personaly they peaked at the end of the 80's; Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and Disintergration are 2 amazing albums, and 2 of the best concerts I've ever been to. 3hour shows, blew me away 🤩 Love A Forest but everyone does 🙄 Primary is a better song from the same period.
The F Robert Palmer bit probably was justified - Palmer's crew were pushing The Cure to cut their set short, for some reason, and even threatened to cut their power, so.... That was Simon Gallup who yelled it out, the bassist
You should react to the Cure-to wish impossible things live in 1992 every time i watch this live it touch me deep inside in fact that every tune make this song unbelivebly honest : )
LOL, didn't really care for them? Your smile and nonstop movement in your seat says differently now. An iconic band with many more songs worthy of your channel. Peace/JT
This music is called ‘New Wave’. The Cure my first big love (They started when I was 10) and the fact they still touring and selling out after more then 40 years says enough. The real and new analysts found and find out how brilliant the songwriting is. It looks so simple….., but so underrated. My favorite song is ‘a hundred years’, studio version quite slow and really New Wave, but the live uptempo version has so much energy and lyrics remain deep. ua-cam.com/video/JduQTTFNYQ4/v-deo.html 1984, Unreal as a teenager

Loved that. Please do more Cure....they don't get enough exposure with reactors in my opinion. Thanks. Love you guys.
I concur 👍
Classic ...i just saw them in Montreal, no one sounds louder and booming live...what a band
"It's such a long end..." Robert Smith will always hold a big place in my heart x
I love this performance, in my personal "hall of fame" :)
Oh, still such an amazing sound after all these years! ❤
Thank you gor this one. Seen them several times, as well in their beginning years in very small venues, max. 500 people and later at big festivals, up to 60.000! One of my all time favs.

Early version of A Forrest...the song has matured into an All time Cure Classic

Love the Cure, I've always been drawn to darker music and they never disappoint. Great reaction

One of my favourite songs of all time. I really love the remix Robert did on All Mixed Up!

Try A Forest from PinkPop, Berlin 2019..
Ooh the cure there’s lots to hear with them , basically most of their songs are romantic poetry .
One of best 80's bands!! Check out these bangers: "Just Like Heaven".. "The Walk".. "Close to Me".. "NEVER ENOUGH".. "In between Days".. "The Lovecats".. and fave "Charlotte Sometimes".. Cheers
I also OCCASIONALLY chat to the bassist of The Cure Simon Gallup! I even made him laugh! nice bloke, Simon is in the video.
Bought this on 7" single when it came out, still listen now and again. Peace

Excellent! Please continue down this dark road!👍
total respect
The Cure King 👑 of rock !!!!
Post punk...they hated rock lol
grow up with Cure...my youth🤗
great band
Great cure tune!!!
This is very early Cure music. I know that you guys would really love their later songs like "Love Cats" or "Friday I'm In Love"
Best cure song. And more rammstein please. Love from Türkiye.
👍👍👍
classic

You should listen to the 'mixed up' version.
Try also 13:46 min long video of 1992..must be the most haunting version I have ever heard

one of my favourite bands..................gloomy and moody...........
It is also called 'New Wave' music, lots of bands those days could create this kind of atmosphere.
Disagree, post - punk.
LOL, didn't really care for them? Your smile and nonstop movement in your seat says differently now. An iconic band with many more songs worthy of your channel. Peace/JT
Also couldn't find the second reaction you did of them?
It's their 2nd reaction that I've requested, but their 1st to The Cure. My 1st request was by Gang of Four.
@@csn10 Ok. Miss understood what they said. Cool.
@@Areyousayingidontknowmyname No worries, it happens to all of us :)
As good live now as they were over 40 years ago.

You needed to react to the original studio version NOT a live version.
They sound way better live so if you have a chance
A deep cut....many others are better....or more commercially successful. Pictures of You is maybe more to your liking.
Not the best version. As far as I’m concerned, it is a bit too fast, and less spooky than normal.
