Once again another her phenomenal video cast! I was introduce to cold water therapy at age 14 (35 years ago) when I had run into a dead end with traditional medicine treatment of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. It changed my life and by my late teens the arthritis was gone. I’ve used it ever since to treat flu bugs, injuries, depression etc. thanks m so excited to get the forge!
Been taking cold showers for a week because hurricane Ida taking out the grid. Now I know the benefits, it gets your mind right. Not doing the ice thing……yet.

In Kundalini yoga they do 3" cold showers in morning. Perhaps long deep breathing which is one breath per minute. I'm twice their age, and it is interesting how the perspectives are competitive. Their product sounds worthwhile.
Been doing the Wim Hof Method since December 20 and can't start the day without a cold shower 🚿 definitely helped getting through the last couple of lockdowns
At 52.00, with respect to contrast therapy, you can do cold first and immediately get back to baseline and beyond if you jump into a hot bath or hot tub after cold. In a traditional sauna, you can get back to baseline after cold in a couple of minutes if you throw a lot of water on the rocks. I am guessing it would take a long time to get back to baseline in a Infrared Sauna.
I started practicing cold exposer about 10mnths ago, after watching another podcast when you suggested easing into it, I just started walking in the cool with less cloths and took off blankets at night, then cold showers, and now I have a cold plunge, I can't believe I can do it, I was always one of the coldest people layers of cloths, but now it's amazing how my body has adapted, it is getting challenging as the weather gets cooler it's about 35f today and did not want to get into it but I pushed through, I'm definitely addicted to the way it makes me feel, I don't think I can go back, I really enjoy meditating at the same time, it also helpse to stay in longer
In my life in Spain, I went to a gym spa nearby that besides everything else available, had the Japanese baths of quick dips back and forth in very hot and very cold water. Elysium in Madrid. It was a section that had steps to go from one to the other. Had an indoor pool, that was about different types of water treatments, with a glass sky above and big glass windows around it. It wasn't the top of the building, but annex in which below was the hotels banquet rooms. Eurobuilding. I'm definitely living out of my natural state in the world. Sarcasm. Used to be a big fish with a lot of other big fish, in a great pool of water. Now I'm a big fish in a bucket. So weird comparing the territorial size of the US compared with Spain and the rest of Europe where I'd travel to and spend time, even months, with no tensions or problems whatsoever. Never any serious ones at all.
There was a body builder I met six or seven years back while working. This guy would lift houses....looked like a very boring hobby but what I noticed was that he had an ice bath set up outside. He loved it. Fantastic to learn from everyone!
For me, cold exposure adjusts hormones big time. I think it has to do with the DHEA to testosterone/estrogen ratios based on skin sensitivity. I’ve seen some positive muscle gains just from that alone. My theory is that low body temperatures inhibit T while high temps inhibit E, which makes you sickly and susceptible to autoimmune issues.
Mike you have a mild paralysis of the right side, and left hemisphere of the brain, try this COQ-10, PQQ, Glutathione, NAC, L Citrulline, N-Acetyl-Semax Acetate. This will also help your brain, heart condition greatly. Fasting, and more sleep will also greatly enhance the compounds. This issue was not noticeable when you were fasting.
Watching this bit by bit- thanks! Just note, you're capable of long breath holds due to low CO2 levels (the bodys respiratory drive) rather than higher O2 levels. Get a sats monitor on your finger whilst you do it and you'll see your O2 sats drop as you breath hold. Hence the risk of hypoxic seizures, and why they suggest you don't do breathwork in water, as Wim Hof did at first.
I live in Australia and due to extremely fair skin and early skin cancer, I wear 50+ sunblock all year around. Subsequently I take vitamin D3 year round too.
In Ayurveda they believe in luke warm showers just below room temperature or river dips. Both the hot and the cold should be avoided. I believe any stress you can handle will make you stronger. Just like exercise, slowly build up the hot or cold over months. I guess the optimal dose will be different for everyone.
Started cold baths this week. At this point, I'm practicing 15 minutes at 57 degrees F. This talk makes me want to go colder for shorter periods of time. Easing in a little at a time.
I made a freezer one and used a 10.6 cu freezer. I am 6'2'' and easily fit in it. The freezer was $300 new. It works great. There are several youtube videos on how to modify them. Try it at your own risk and do not use it plugged in

I have really bad arthritis in my shoulders. At night when I sleep if the cold wind blows through the window I have massive massive pain in my shoulders! It's unbearable! If I do an ice plunge would that help or make it worse in my shoulders?

I wish I could afford something like this. My showers aren't even cold here in Phoenix and it's too much of a hassle to keep buying ice to put in the tub.

Keep doing what you’re doing, and add bags of ice you will get the same results. You get acclimated to this, but take it easy at first. I would go from sauna (well heated) to plunge pool. I felt I could hear a pin drop from 20 yards. Amazing clarity.
If you’re worried about cortisol then please don’t ever exercise or eat-as they too raise cortisol. In fact, not sure why you even get out of bed on the AM. Waking up raises cortisol, too!
@@Highintensityhealth not even close to the amount that a cold shower does/ice plunge does. fascinating video! amazing how I would interject however that God has made our bodies, made ice, made salt and water, so we can use God's creation to help heal ourselves! So basically its kosher salt water with ice in a big yeti cooler! old style ice cream makers. basically salt water. ice floats in the Arctic and Antarctica. you could make your own but it may not look as nice or work as well as the ones you can buy. Cryotherapy is what its called. there are also blankets you can purchase that offer basic refrigeration of the body while sleeping. But not as cold.
I encourage you to note that vitamin D doses in excess of 4000 IU/day increase the chances of calcium deposits in soft tissues and accelerated osteoarthritis. The Mayo clinic has done studies that show ODing on D is not good. Speaking from personal experience as well. Its very important to continually mention to your viewers what happens with too much. The health and fitness community only talks about too little. This leads some people to OD on supplements because they are not educated on the dangers of too much.
Hopefully, this is only the case for people with ultra high levels in their blood. 10,000 iu/day traditionally puts me at 50-55 ng/ml, which is supposedly in the optimal range. I take magnesium, k2, and very small amounts of calcium since my diet is mostly plant based. It's my best guess as to what to do, but I suppose that these supplements and other supplements I take may do more harm than good.
I can't recall the claims in the video, but there is a lot of science supporting cold exposure. You can easily find studies in scientific journals by googling cold exposure and studies.

I have a pool in the yard we are in SC so it won’t freeze over but it can get very cold on the verge of ice on it. So, can we dip in our pool during the winter months ? Is that the same thing maybe?
Of course it is
IMO you can totally do that, great idea
@@Highintensityhealth The local YMCA IA a half mile away. I plan to walk there this winter in a t-shirt and shorts then go into the sauna, then walk back.
@@MrChiangching that sounds like fun! Lol good luck! I would love to have a Y that close
Is there a reason to start a shower off cold, instead of ending it cold?
@5:58 check out Huberman Lab’s ep. 21 How to Lose Fat, he talks about brown fat’s effect on burning stored adipose tissue.
Can I take a cold shower ? Would that work? I just bought a cooling blanket.
Cold showers are a great start!
Mike states "It's been a cool practice and strategy".
GOOD ONE, ha.
What does easiness of cold exposure have to do with hashimoto's? I haven't always had hashimoto's, and find cold exposure as seemingly medium hard as I have always found it. What does she mean?
i wish you could do a video about eye floaters
Excellent videl
0:01:58 What if I seem to be sensitive to the K2 (mk-7) form- heart palpitations etc.? Can I still reap the benefits of increased D synthesis and proper calcium storage by combining my D3 with K2 (mk-4) which I do tolerate quite well??? I supplement with the other D co-factors as well. Thanks for any and all feedback as my doctor hasn't much of a clue about supplementation. 🙏🏻
Interesting! Maybe try a stand along D3, liquid or softgels. @myoxcience has options for you.
i hope you make videos about NOFAP ، and about hair loss
Audio note: the gate on the mics is very noticeably and distracting. A longer release time would make it much smoother.
I'd buy it if they have a heated whirlpool version
Haha good point and business idea
Just 2 mins in the morning? I thought cold therapy was similar to sleep cycles (1.5hrs) where each cycle of 1.5min was best, and 2 mins doesn't sound like it could finish a cycle within the cells taking advantage of the therapy
Turn off the circuit breaker at night?
Not in the whole house, just our sleeping area.
@@Highintensityhealth
Yeah, I was thinking that was for the bedroom.... But, oh yes, you do it because of the EMF waves.... Sleep hygiene. Ok, yeah, 🤦🙆🏻I get it. 🙄🙂
I have really bad arthritis in my shoulders. At night when I sleep if the cold wind blows through the window I have massive massive pain in my shoulders! It's unbearable! If I do an ice plunge would that help or make it worse in my shoulders?
Only one way to know... Try it for a week.
Sauna would help with blood flow to the shoulders.
XRP……let’s goooo
I had arthritis in my knees and hips, I changed to a carnivore diet and do a far IR sauna followed by ice cold showers and within weeks arthritis gone.
@@sportysbusiness so not even veggies? No fiber?

God, I love when Mikey sweet-talks me into buying those sweet, sweet supplements.
I’m interested in their 5000 D3 K2. I currently take 10,000 IUs and my level shoots up really high. Having a 5000 IU option may be helpful.
@@TiMalice2009 sadly K2 is notorious for having poor bioavailability. I think natto (fermented soybeans), fermented vegetables, and in small doses cheese are the primary sources.
I'm a terrible person for letting people know of quality, low cost ways to support their health. Probably going to hell for it!
@@TiMalice2009 The fermented K2 we get from Gnosis (VitaMK7) is blended with a 5K IU D3, decent combo!
@@djackson4605 We source the VitaMK7 from fermented Bacillus subtilis, it's well absorbed and has data to support.
Generally speaking, how many pounds of Ice in the tub to get the temp under 50 F?
Depends on the size, I'd think at least 5
It also depends on the starting temp of the water. I used to use about 70 - 80 lbs of large blocks of ice to get it below 50. Now I just jump in my chest freezer tub. Making ice and carrying it to the tub was too much work.
Once a week for 2 years, 20 minute ice bath, cold tap water and 10 lbs of ice.
Amazing, what have you noticed?
@@Highintensityhealth My start began with shoulder / labrum repair surgery, easier to get in the icebath than fiddle with the ice pack. I maintained to combat any ongoing inflammation. But I also struggle with ptsd/anxiety, and I find a good grounding affect from it, too. Good self care.
I don't see the link to your previous episode that you mention at the end?

After covid19 blood can have high amount of ,,low temperature agglutinine,,
In this case we must avoid blood cooling.
You can test this with a dropp of blood at a surface of a cold glass.
If agglutinations did not occur IT is O.K.
My showers burn like the sun.
and vitamin D status?
You need to have Dr. Rhonda Patrick on your podcast
I wish I could afford something like this. My showers aren't even cold here in Phoenix and it's too much of a hassle to keep buying ice to put in the tub.
Get a chest freezer, calk the seems, fill it with water, plug it in.
Boom.
Just don’t get in while it’s plugged in.
You don't need this.
DIFFICULT For us to follow,But.....
I tried a cold bath but just cold water in my bathtub. But even that took my breath. How do we do this without it feeling like I am going to not be able take a breath again? What is the breath work you all are talking about? And I will one day get a gavelnized tub but for now I at least try to do a cold bath. Like water run in my tub from the cold side.. surly this will help for now? Or am I doing nothing by doing this. U said something is better than nothing lolb
Keep doing what you’re doing, and add bags of ice you will get the same results. You get acclimated to this, but take it easy at first. I would go from sauna (well heated) to plunge pool. I felt I could hear a pin drop from 20 yards. Amazing clarity.
@@RogueCylon wow! How long can u stay for now?
The massive markup on their tubs is astounding.
Did I miss it? What temperature is the water
He said 32F
32 degrees!
Love this but its not even reasonable for a normal person to afford it
Jacking that cortisol sky high.
It's just a way to artificially trigger the stress hormones of adrenaline and cortisol to make of for the lack of dietary glucose in most cases. Nothing is for free, it feels good to be on that roller coaster, but eventually at some point it ages you prematurely.
Like Mike just said, why even get out of bed.
Our bodies our not meant to he in 70 degrees temperatures all day everyday.
But in your artificial world, eat those pop tarts, & play your video games.
@@TumbleSensei how much? Is there a test or study that you have done or seen that it will age you prematurely? Do you look 20yrs older because you been doing it? Just curious if this is just your thoughts or facts?
@@TumbleSensei I understand what your trying to say, but that applies to chronically elevated cortisol levels from stressors. I'm not sure about ice plunge, but I suspect it doesn't stay elevated for long; but don't know.
am I the only one who read the title as (hornesis)?
Freudian hint?? 🤣
@@Highintensityhealth What can I say? Cold baths do weird things to you! :-)
fascinating video! amazing how I would interject however that God has made our bodies, made ice, made salt and water, so we can use God's creation to help heal ourselves!
My understanding is if you take vitamin K2 and magnesium with vitamin D you avoid the calcium deposits.
It's a good point, it's best to test. More is not better.
I liked this video except for every time the whistley speaking lady opened her mouth, way too melodramatic
Thats not what autoimmune is and that's not how it happens. Lol!
Nothing is more comforting than the unsubstantiated claims of people selling a product.
I can't recall the claims in the video, but there is a lot of science supporting cold exposure. You can easily find studies in scientific journals by googling cold exposure and studies.
@@jackbuaer3828 I'm as familiar with the science as anyone else who's been following this trend for years. As far as the constant flow of anecdotes, I randomly listened to Adrienne's views on shivering response correlating with psychological trauma. "In my personal experience...", "One of my favorite stories..." The whole show was like this. Discussing the best length of time to cold plunge was all personal experience and conjecture. There was no science and a lot of uncritical "un-huh"ing by Mike. Here she goes again: ice bath is a superior substitute to meditation, true or not, it was a completely unsubstantiated -infomercial- discussion.
@@jackbuaer3828 I've found a lot of value in your comments, but I didn't say there wasn't science supporting cold exposure.
