  • Hi everyone! Today we took a day trip to Nikko! Nikko is a world heritage site, famous for a number of shrines dedicated to the famous shogun leader, Tokugawa Ieyasu and his grandson. There's also a beautiful lake nearby with a waterfall, mountain views and more temples as well as the old Imperial Villa where the imperial family would spend the hot Japanese summers until the mid 1900s. As normal with the Japan travel videos we have tips for travelling around Nikko and updates on our Japan Rail Pass savings! Thanks so much for watching!

    Hi Natasha. I think this must be at least my fourth time watching this video. Your explanation of the areas of historical significance as well as food reports were amazingly insightful. How you (guys) guided us on an amazing adventure through your lens is such a wonderful treat. Thank you so much for sharing. Stay safe and happy travels!

    When I was here they were doing major renovations and I didn’t get to see a whole lot of The shrines, thanks for showing this.

    Every single Onsen ryokan in Nikko is just brilliant. I strongly recommend everyone to stay there for a night or two in Ryokan although its possible to take a day trip from Tokyo.

    Nikko (日光, Nikkō) is a town at the entrance to Nikko National Park, most famous for Toshogu, Japan's most lavishly decorated shrine and the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate.

    Hi! I love your videos! The detail is really allowing me to plan my upcoming trip. I was wondering if your chuzenji bus pass allowed you to go to any bus? Or was it specifically only the bus headed to chuzenji?

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  5 років тому

      I believe it's any bus in the immediate region - but if you want to go to the nearest onsen area it's a little more. Japan Guide has all the info you need I think! Scroll to the bottom and there's details of the busses there! www.japan-guide.com/e/e3805.html

    Great video! Full of useful information. I'm considering going to Nikko next April. How cold was it during your visit to Kegon Falls and the Chuzenji Lake area? Do you think it's worth seeing in April or should I save Nikko for another season?

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  5 років тому +1

      April is a good season - although it was cold and the weather can be temperamental! I went in May one year and it was perfect - Liam and I were unlucky this time! If you're doing a day trip from Tokyo you can always check the weather and decide on the day whether to go!

    im going to japan in 8 days for 12 day stay. We have plans to go to Nikko and Hakkone from Tokyo. Will the JR Pass allow us to travel to these destinations??

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  5 років тому

      Yes but not on the private railway lines - you'll need to take the Japan Rail routes, see Japan Guide for more info! Hakone: www.japan-guide.com/e/e5200.html, Nikko: www.japan-guide.com/e/e3800.html. I hope this helps!

      I have! And I have a bunch of vlogs on Tokyo Disney too! Oh I love both places so would recommend to go to both. Although Nikko is amazing for culture and Tokyo Disney is amazing for fun. So depends on what you’re into more! I hope this helps although that’s a tough decision on your hands!

    When is the best time in Autumn to visit Nikko? When trees are gold&red already?

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  5 років тому

      I think so! But that happens for a very short time. Usually the leaves change over a 2 week period, and that tends to be a very popular time to travel in Japan! Have a look at the autumn colour reports on Japan Guide (www.japan-guide.com/blog/koyo17/), that should give you a good indication of when is the best time to go!
