Hiya, very good video. thanks for going through them. I currently have got a zappi 2 (tethered version) and the car comes with extra type 2 cable. But I'm now looking to get 3Pin one so that I can be prepared when travelling to a place without rapid charger. Would be much appreciated if you're be able to do a video on best 3Pin cable to buy. Thanks

I will add that to the list of videos to make. That's a whole can of worms!

Another very useful video. Do you think that the Chademo socket will lose out to CCS? I'm not sure if I should discount cars with the former.

Yes eventually. But I wouldn't discount Chademo vehicles though. Nearly all new chargers have Chademo and the sockets will be around for a very long time. No one will be getting rid of them while there are so many vehicles (mostly Leafs) on the road with that system. It is only the Ionity chargers that have no Chademo. All the others have both.

Hello, good channel, I Learned a lot . Here in Colombia this still very new. Due to your videos I finally bought a 2014 Kangoo Van, and a openevse charger, (without cable). I want to charge at 3.5KW, but I only have 110V L to N, can I use a 32 amps cable to charge? Or can I connect 2 fases (I have 3 fase grid 220V) in L1 and Neutral instead of 1 fase at 220V and a Neutral? I mean, are any difference between connect 2 fases 220V or 1 fase and a neutral at the same 220V? Thanks in advance!

I can't really advise on this as I have no experience of your electrical systems as completely different in the UK. However, the Kangoo only charges on single phase. When using 3-phase, the additional pins are used on a type2 connector, which don't exist on a type1 connector. Therefore as your Kangoo has a type1, it is single phase only. However, I would assume you can upgrade your supply to 220V, so you have 220V through the (single) live pin.

@@GoGreenAutos thanks for the answer, my question is because I will have to connect a fase in a "N" pin, not a neutral, so I will have 220V with 2 fases or hot in "L1 and N" pins of the plug.

No, If your region is America, you have one phase 240V without Neutral contact. But charger in to car have 7kW power. 7000/240=29A maximum current.

Hi can you use a 3 phase cable to charge your car at home off a 7 kw 1 phase charger then use the same cable to charge at a public 3 charger
