  • The art of blending is key when applying eyeshadow. Often times we have the placement of product correctly, we lack the skill of blending because we don't devote enough time to it. We rush it, we're harsh or we just keep going and create a muddy mess! This tutorial is to help correct those trouble spots for you.
Things to consider for optimal blending:
    1. Prep your surface aka prime those lids! This way you have a prepped canvas to apply your shadows and that can help create the smoother gradient of color we're all after.
    2. Tools are important! You need to start with a blending brush. You need to look for a brush with longer bristles, one that's less dense and has some movement to it. This will help create a softer application and a smoother blend.
    3. Hand placement is huge!! Make sure you aren't holding your brush with a tight grip right up at the bristles. This will apply too much pigment in one spot and will be very hard to blend. Holding further back and with a light grip, you'll have a lighter application, a soft blend and a smooth gradient of color.
    4. When blending, using windshield wiper motions in the crease is the best place to start! You can blend in the crease, above the crease towards the brow and even do a bit on the lid. When you start to add color and build up a look, make sure you spend some time blending each shade.
    5. The outer corner is reserved for those deeper, darker shades. Again I recommend using a blending brush to help avoid adding too much product to the lid making it difficult for them to blend or look like a muddy mess.
    6. Don't move onto the next color until you're satisfied with your blend of the current shade. Make sure you completely blend each shade and have achieved that smooth transition of color before moving forward.
    7. Take note of how to blend out that outer corner without making it too dark. To avoid adding more pigment, dust your brush off on a paper towel, microfiber cloth, cleaning tile, etc and then keep blending. This won't add anymore color to the look, it'll help you blend out what you have already on the lid. Or go back to your crease (or even transition shade) and use that to help you blend. This will add more color to the lid and help you create a smoother blend but it won't be that darker outer corner shade. So many options!!
Remember when you think you're done, blend a bit more!

What she meant is video description reflected in title- not a date as you want your viewers to know what they’re going to be watching.
