Something that I think is easy to overlook is not just the quality of the build, which in my opinion is high, but also the quality of the parts selection. I am starting to find that especially in troop builder packs, a good parts selection is invaluable. Sure, Bricoleur Bricks is going to make something awesome out of it no matter how boring the parts selection is, but I love to see that this pack has the modified 1x2s with bars on the side, ratchet pieces, curved elements, wedge plates, technic elements, and studs on the side brackets. Additionally, including two brackets for the heavy troopers is great for folks who want to build up more sizeable backpacks, and while the lack of waistcapes and pauldrons is unfortunate, that is easy and cheap to fix. Do I see a ton of alternate builds from this set? Due to the lack of large plates and standard bricks, no, but I do see these elements being a great addition to parts collection of many lego builders, making the extra parts more of a treat than a bullet to bite when purchasing multiples of this set.
@@crazydog1750 he’s one of them, yeah! He’s the guy who made some of the best looking ones. He made a gunship, a republic fighter tank, and an atte, each using a number of the 501st battle pack, and they all looked fantastic, especially for alternate builds! I will say though, I built the gunship and while it looks amazing, it’s definitely not for play based on durability. One of the things I loved about the 501st battle pack was that with it being our first great clone set in years and with me being of age to be able to afford more than one or two, I found myself making lots of different things with it and I had a revelation: Bricoleur Bricks’ gunship moc requires only the parts from four 501st clone trooper sets. At retail, that’s $120, which is around what the last gunship cost, but for awhile I’ve been able to find the set consistently for $24, making the actual price less than $100(just over with tax). Why is that significant, well, four of those packs means not only the parts, but SIXTEEN clone troopers and eight battle droids, and the moc offers many of the same playable features as the last version of the set. Yes, the durability is less, but that can be fixed with a few parts that most fans already have, and if you just want it for display anyway, it already fills that role. $30 felt like way too much at release, especially because I (1) hated the inclusion of both vehicles when we would’ve been fine with just one and (2) because I thought they made both builds bigger than they needed to be just to raise the price point of the set unnecessarily. The hole helmet seems to work incredibly well for troopers with visors or macros. The hole is in the proper location for both those accessories. It'd be even cooler if this became a theme-212th battle pack followed by a 212th specialist, a shock trooper followed by a shock trooper specialist... that'd be nice.

I can forgive LEGO when the figure is supposed to sit down in a set, but we have plenty of clones other than the officer to pilot the cannon. And he isn't even depicted as sitting down on the box art-LEGO really cheaped out.
I'm probably going to take the kama from the airborne trooper in Grievous' starfighter (which is a great set regardless of Obi-Wan's barely noticable inaccurate torso) and put it on the commander from this set. Extra points because it'll let him be able to easily fit in the AT-TE

Excellent review Ryan! I concur with your thoughts on the officer and the new macrobinocular piece. This set has some flaws, but I'm actually going to give a hard disagree on your criticism about the macrobinoculars. They should be unprinted. The lack of print on attachment pieces is nothing new for Lego, and for good reason. Aside from a basic color, the Clone trooper attachment pieces (Rangefinders, visors, floodlights) have always been unprinted. That way, those pieces and the extras they come with can fittingly be placed onto any other trooper without any unfixable inaccuracy. If you want a version with the accurate printing for a specific type of trooper, you can decal/paint them yourself. They consistently give you a blank slate so it can be fittingly applied to potentially any other trooper figure.

They have to have 2 holes in the helmet so that if someone chokes on it they will have just enough space to breathe and before you say what if the holes are full, they won’t be because as you said in the video the rangefinder easily falls out, that is to make it so someone can breathe.
Everyone was losing their minds over the new 212th helmet because they don't end in a point, but nobody's talking about the absence of blue on the upper backs on the 501st
I added stuff to the build, i made a shield for one of the troopers i made i made the cannon so it doesnt the minifig doesnt fall of easily, i made a backpack that acutully holds stuff. I also gave Din Djardins jetpack to the officer and grabbed the Obi Wan Vs vader from the Kenobi Show set i grabbed the imperial officer and replaced its head with a clones.
I don't think lego is doing this thing on purpose I say it's a error with box art. And if anyone was paying attention to it they would notice the gaint hole on the side of the helmet. Also what other lego set took advantage of fan demand?
@@LegoheadMCI mean it’s not a mistake. They did it intentionally. Tho I don’t care as much as the kamas. If they just skip on quality they should probably just make the set like 15 dollars which is what it should be instead of 20 or include kamas

That Lego set was my first Star Wars lego set ever!!!
This set is definitely good for army building
2023 Phase 2 Captain Rex with printed waistcape. That's a nightmare
Lego finally realized that battle packs is where its at
“It doesn’t look good obviously, receding hairline” Got me DYING
I just got this set and i have to say that the build is awkward but the minifigures. Oh my god the minifigures are the reason why im getting more after the n1 microfighter, slave 1 microfighter and 332nd bp
Um, actually 🤓 👆it’s boba fett’s star ship microfighter, because you’re not allowed to reference owning people in a toy made for kids
It's always very funny and satisfying when Ryan gets the new sets before all the LEGO Ambassadors
And because Lego waited ages to reveal the small Star Wars lineup, they're getting burnt. It's going to be another week before the LAN people can even post their reviews, lol.
Hope this better than the 501st battle which uh....you should get before they sale out because we have a new one baby
I wouldn’t put it past Lego to think the piece that falls out is an antenna and not meant to swivel anyway. Clearly, most lego designers are not Star Wars fans.
had to pick this up today for my clone army collection im building love it
“Not taking advantage of Fan demand here”
I don’t really think they did that on the first one, at all. It was exactly what everyone asked for at a good price. If anything they gave exactly what fans demanded.
I can say I'm very disappointed with this set, so many missed opportunities along with the false advertising on the box, I will probably only purchase 1-2.
Can’t wait to order one on the 1st of the new year haha🙏
There’s a reason I like the blue stripe, it’s so people can customize there clone troopers more
Bonus: and so people can do the battlefront 2 meme “the sector is clear”
I’m excited about what’s to come given the 20th Ann box art for the clone wars fingers crossed playscale gunship
I completely agree with all your opinions on this BP.
Everything is close to being perfect it just doesn't take that one extra leap.
Still a great pack I will definitely pick up a few.
lol your subtle shot at Lego: "not taking advantage of fan demand here" 🤣
Yeah it’s still crazy we all just let them get away with making the most demanded LEGO set ever cost 2x what people obviously had in mind. Capitalism at its worst.
@@MandRproductions yup but what can we do.. :/ Hopefully there's a sale in the future that brings em down a couple bucks but until then, I'll probably pick up a couple.
Feels like a rush job for this pack. But it’s still excellent value for 4 501st clones for 20 compare to 30 and with extra visors
I kinda think that if Lego put in a 501st ARF trooper that would have been nice instead of 2 heavy troopers
I'm happy with the Heavy Clones, wish Lego previously released a white satchel to add to it but sadly there isn't. Worst case I dip one of the brown satchels in paint and there you go, more game accurate.
The macros give me hope for official 327th Star corps troopers coming someday
Looks great can’t wait to pick it up
Can’t think of another set that got a SEQUEL! 75280 must have sold incredibly well
There’s no doubt about that
Probably the best selling set of all time
And they gave a blog the “exclusive” designer interview. I’ll never forgive.
If there was a stripe then it would be less customizable to put it on other clones
I cant be the only one who finds the rangefinders a bit easier than that. I mean cmon man use more than one finger and you’ll be fine 😂
More detail = higher price. If you want printed arms, new accessory molds, and dual molded legs, $20 can quickly become $40.
No it’s already overpriced. If u look at inflation it’s already 5 dollars too much, and pauldrons and kamas cost like 5 cents a piece to create so they are just trying to be greedy
I don’t mind the lack of a blue stripe on the macro binoculars because you can put them on any clone not just 501st clones.
Thank god no stud shooters... Wish the Macrobinoculars had the black line, wish for the cloth pieces. Other than that I think its good.
I don’t care how the holes are I’m buying ton of these
I always enjoy watching your reviews, I see it as if you give the set a high score (7 or above) and I can personally look past the complaints you have, I’ll know I’ll likely enjoy the set.
Really hoping we get a regular Stormtrooper battle pack soon, been wanting to army build those for years now.
I think they didn’t put a print on the macro binoculars is so that you can use them on your other clones
This guy made a review before LEGO officially revealed this 😂
Oh please oh please oh please review the Brian O'Conner's Nissan Skyline next
The price makes no sense. Dom’s Charger retails at $20 but they are starting the Skyline at $25. Even the Bond Aston Martin is $20.
They have to have 2 holes in the helmet so that if someone chokes on it they will have just enough space to breathe and before you say what if the holes are full, they won’t be because as you said in the video the rangefinder easily falls out, that is to make it so someone can breathe.
That is entirely false.
I AM GETTING THAT THE MINIFIGURES ARE PRETTY COOL but there are alot of problems but I am still getting it!
I love the 501 clone troopers
"I'm just kidding, I never go to the gym" 🤣🤣🤣
I remember when battlepacks used to be 10 bucks
Everyone was losing their minds over the new 212th helmet because they don't end in a point, but nobody's talking about the absence of blue on the upper backs on the 501st
The sound quality feels better
Yeah I’m gonna keep doing it like this. Lapel mic suuucks for some reason now.
Can’t wait for this. Looks dope.
Omg so very much on my list
Should give Lego a break for the helmet hole wrong photo. They do listen to the fans and have us another cheaper battle pack with 4 clones !
I don't think lego is doing this thing on purpose I say it's a error with box art. And if anyone was paying attention to it they would notice the gaint hole on the side of the helmet. Also what other lego set took advantage of fan demand?
A Dream finally come true. The REAL battlepack. Shame that it's only $20. I miss those days when battlepacks were $9-12
8:42 you accidentally switched the helmets of the heavy trooper and the specialist trooper lol
Man I can’t wait to hear you mention the antenna being wrong on the box in every video for the next two years just like the gunship box!!
Maybe they should just get it right 🤷♀️😂 they get paid to do a job and then don’t do it. Nobody ever held accountable there.
@@MandRproductions I mean yeah it was a mistake, but it gets annoying when you hear about a random mistake that is very insignificant all the time
@@LegoheadMCI mean it’s not a mistake. They did it intentionally. Tho I don’t care as much as the kamas. If they just skip on quality they should probably just make the set like 15 dollars which is what it should be instead of 20 or include kamas
