I would say yes. There are. But not enough to discourage you from using obs to record. I use a combo of both in my content depending on the situation and I’m guessing no one can tell the difference. It is really subtle.

Q: Is the size set in OBS for Settings|Base(Canvas) and Settings|Output measured from the top left of the screen, or is it picking up those from the middle of the screen? (I have a 24" wide screen, and I know I don't want to capture it all, but I want to make sure I understand what OBS is trying to do.)

When I select my Camlink, I don't get those options to configure beyond a dropdown that just has me select a preset -- any ideas on how to activate those other settings like configuring video, etc? I'm on Mac

I record short clips and edit them in an editor. Obs is a recording and broadcast software. It’s not an editor. I would always recommend you script everything though. It gives the best results.
How can I record my music video and audio all together without latency on OBS. I am a new user of OBS. I am unaware of mic setting too. I am using wright's WR 800 mic and laptop camera to shoot my instrumental video ( Indian percussion TABLA)
It is because your laptop is having trouble encoding at the bitrate and resolution you are recording at more than likely. X264 is a great encoder but most machines can’t keep up recording with just x264
On time frame 9:32 you had infinite windows; window within a window, within a window, onwards to infinity. That is my problem with OBS. How did you get rid of it?

The hardware encoder was never finished and should not be used for live broadcasts. It seems to work ok for just recording. If you use it life it will just stop working randomly and you will end up with sound only. Use x264
Michael, I've done a good amount of live stream tests with streamlabs obs. The problem I'm running into is that after I share a video, my screen gets slightly pixelated for around 15ish seconds. Is there any way around this?

As I rewatched some of my test footage (such as ua-cam.com/video/imhJfL1NHP0/v-deo.html ), I realized that my pixalation after I showed a video in my screen wasn't actually due to my stream settings in Streamlabs OBS, my computer, or internet connection. UA-cam just hadn't apparently finished processing the video! I've been doing test footage and then immediately looking at it for review to make sure my stream will be good, but I forgot if the video hasn't been fully processed by UA-cam, it's not going to look as good as it will after being fully processed. When I went to the part of my video after I played the video in the stream, I didn't look pixelated now that UA-cam finished processing it. By the way, I got some cheap headphones for my Blue Yeti based on your recommendation to use headphones when having guests in the stream. Thanks a lot for your help! I plan on using your trick to add comments into a live stream with Streamlabs for my upcoming live stream, too, and I've been testing out that feature in preparation as well.
Nice video. The audio is not keeping up with my lips. My lips are also going slow. Towards end of video the recording audio starts playing again so I have 2 audios playing at the same time.
1. in the "sources" window click the + button, choose window capture. Then click the cog button at the bottom to select the right webpage. 2. If you got the webpage showing in OBS then you need to select the part of the page you want to record. You can click and hold to drag what you see to center it. Another thing you can do is click the corners to stretch it bigger and smaller. The crucial one is holding down the alt key before dragging the corners. That one lets you crop out the part of the screen you dont need. to improve the frame rate and cpu usage you can switch from 1080p to 720p if you see the option.
Hi, Why am I not able to hear the audio that is coming from a media source (video) in OBS preview? I was able to hear the audio of any medias uploaded on OBS previously but something suddenly went wrong. I have tried many solutions to not avail. As of now no audio is coming from media sources uploaded on OBS. This is driving me crazy and messing out my streams I've been stuck on this for over a week now and I'm close to giving up. Do you have any other solution to offer?

I am a bit lost because I followed this advice, but my video quality captured through OBS looks diminished in Premiere... Is this happening to anyone else? I tried to record the other day and couldn’t get the audio synced to save my life. It was so frustrating. I adjusted the advanced audio preference numerous times by changing the milliseconds and when I thought I had it right I tried to record again and then again the voice didn’t line up. Any suggestions?
My recommendation is to use the source from your camera as track 1. That will always be in sync. Then on track 2 use the audio source you want to use for the video. Make sure to add sharp visual and audio ques like a clap that are easy to synch. Then synch the audio in your editing software so it lines up with the camera audio. And remove or mute the camera audio.
2nd UPDATE I deleted OBS completely and reinstalled it. As long as I don't click on scene it records wonderfully. Still working on getting the lag out. Look at several tutorials and still lagging. I try again later today. This will be day 4 trying to get this to work right! LOL Great tutorial. UPDATE. Tutorial useful but did not work for me. Now it want record anything. LOL Back to the drawing board. I unfortunately bought a new webcam that came with no software! You'd think that designers would no better. How can you use their product without software. No wonder I got a great deal. Next time I'll stick to name brand products. So after scouring the internet for compatible software I came across OBS. Again where are the instructions! LOL I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the ball that Lucy is playing with and missing it as she wittingly pulls it away knowing he's trying to kick it. LOL Anyway, I'm so glad I came across your tutorial although I think this version is not the latest. What I downloaded is OBS 26.1.1(64) You might want to check for updates if you have not already. Depends how you use the footage. If you are playing clips and giving cometary and takes about the action you are adding something unique to the content. If you are just playing the original you will get strikes most likely.
"...irregardless of your monitor size..." no such word. It's simply regardless. but if you say irregardless you have two negatives. Unfortunately, my version of OBS studio appears to have different menus than yours.
Pretty sure recording UA-cam videos for rebroadcast is a violation of youtubes terms of service. That content is owned by that youtuber. There are plenty of ways to download it directly though. So why would you record the screen?
have fooled with this enough, do not see anything that says "use custom audio device" at 7:57. cannot get audio to sync to video, not even webcam audio. won't be using obs i guess.

To be honest after watching several videos you just have to try it. Everything I've learned was thru trial and error. I've found a lot of ways of doing things that wasn't what I was recommended to do from a youtuber. These videos are just guidelines you just have to willing to try things out. I'm still learning my videos are FAR from perfect, but they're better than what they used to be. Good luck, wish you nothing but the best💪🏿

Yes. You can record in any resolution you want.

You can do 4 k by just typing it in properly. On both the canvas and output.

Yes. In sources it’s audio output capture. On a pc. On a Mac it’s more complicated. I did a video for Mac a few weeks back.

There must be something obs does not like about that source. You could try re encoding it using something like handbrake into a different format.

You can raise the quality with settings. But I record directly to the camera card as well for the best results unless I’m doing green screen work.

You must have virtual camera or ndi broadcasting. Turn them off in tools and the settings will be available.

If you're using an usb mic then i would recommend usiong Asio4all, as it will reduce a lot of the latency between your mic and pc.

It can be. Do 10 videos with it. When you finish the 10th video you won’t remember why you thought it was complicated. :-)
have fooled with this enough, do not see anything that says "use custom audio device" at 7:57. cannot get audio to sync to video, not even webcam audio. won't be using obs i guess.
These videos are meant to be edited. It’s so easy to sync audio in post I’m not sure why this would be an issue if you are using it to record.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr Yeah, but I can't even find how to add custom audio source to the webcam, and there is even lag when using the webcam mic. There must be something really wrong .

To be honest after watching several videos you just have to try it. Everything I've learned was thru trial and error. I've found a lot of ways of doing things that wasn't what I was recommended to do from a youtuber. These videos are just guidelines you just have to willing to try things out. I'm still learning my videos are FAR from perfect, but they're better than what they used to be. Good luck, wish you nothing but the best💪🏿
