I got some Bowman Brothers and tasted it and hated it. Almost poured it down the drain. Didn’t try it again until 6 months later and I really enjoyed it then. 🤷♂️
I have come back to the bowman brothers bottle a couple times since I bought it and each time have enjoyed it a little more. A but reason I did this side by side was because I had poured a glass of the bowman brothers and left it out for about 30 minutes before I came back to it and thought it was amazing. It makes me think that if it gets some air and opens up it is a really enjoyable pour.
You should compare the John J Bowman Single Barrel to the Blanton’s, when you find it, since they are both single barrels. I have bought 3 bottles of John J Bowman Single Barrel in N Illinois in 2023. Two bottles were $45 and 1 was $54. The Blanton’s I bought this year was $69.99. 🥃 (I like the JJ Bowman SB better than the overrated Blanton’s)
Completely different. Was hoping for something close to Blanton and was let down. Some may really like Bowman Bros, but it sure doesn’t remind me of Blantons.
Bufalo Trace is much better. The Bowman Brothers Small Batch is subtle, it opened up a little more form me with a couple of water drops, but Buffalo Trace would still perform way better than Bowman Brothers Small Batch.
Nope, after distilled in Kentucky, Bowman Brothers Small Batch bourbon is distilled again in Virginia at the A. Smith Bowman Distillery, and then aged there as well. The distillery is known for its small-batch production. They source their batches from Buffalo Trace.
I've got a bottle of Bowman Brothers Small Batch, and I was disappointed... I wanted to compare it to a few bottles at the same price point, so I've tested it against Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey 101, and Old Forester 100. Bowman Brothers Small Batch failed against each one of these bottles for me. If someone considers buying only one bottle, I would recommend Buffalo Trace or Old Forester 100 if you prefer a sweeter side of bourbon, or Wild Turkey 101 if you enjoy oak notes. I will not buy Bowman Brothers Small Batch anymore.
Just got the Bowman the other day. Mine is straight up strawberries and cream. Pleasantly surprised.
I’m jealous. Blantons is $120-$150 and BBSB is $60 (on a military base) in Florida
Bowman Brothers Small Batch vs. Buffalo Trace would be a better comparison IMO. But great video!

I would love to get my hands on some John J Bowman but it is super hard to get in Oregon but I can get Blanton’s weekly.

How does the Bowman Brothers compare to other Buffalo Trace products?
I will be shooting a blind with the bowman brothers and a few of the open buffalo trace bottles I have soon. Stay tuned for that one.

davevogelsang6791 where exactly did you find that John J Bowman? I’m in Wisconsin and haven’t been able to find this stuff!
Exact same Distillate.

Same mash bill. Shipped to Virginia. They run it through a copper still an additional time- then age it on site in VA. It's similar-but different
