Bought this tonight. Came home and watched your video before tasting. $50 here in Orlando and doesn't do it for me. WT 101 70th Anniversary blows this away at the same price. It's not bad, but I'd be happier if I paid $35 like you guys did.
I see this MORE than Buffalo Trace but I've never picked it up because I've stopped buying low proof bottles after getting burned so many times by crap. But this review has made me rethink getting one. I've been holding out for the barrel proof but beginning to think I'll find Pappy 15 first.
Bowman Brother's is $36 and BT is $35 here in Nebraska. Just found your channel, I am subscribing and will be watching more of your videos. Thanks guys!
I think my brain just melted when they started talking about dimensions on describing a whiskey. Thanks a lot for reminding me I have a long "journey" of tasting and describing spirits! Lmao
The bottlings from 2021 were great (for a $35 bourbon). They would consistently beat out ETL and Blandtons. Haven't bought the most recent small batch, I can only hope it's just as good as the past bottles.
I had a polar opposite experience. Aroma was weak but with a nice caramel and generic bourbon baking spice hit and a slight ethanol The taste had a lot of grain and nuttiness. Lots of spicy black pepper/char. I did get a somewhat thick mouthfeel, but the balance was heavily skewed towards sweetness and the pepper/sweet combo was chaotic. The finish was pleasant but not great.
I have the Port Finished, the Small Batch, and the Single Barrel, and I was disappointed with all of them myself. None of them are bad. But nothing special, for my taste. To be fair, I'm not really a big Blanton's fan either.
This is easier to get compared to Buffalo Trace in so many states, to include VA. I can find the BW SB in VA, MN, GA, AL, KY, TN, IO and SD within 2-3 stores.
Great video. Thanks for reviewing a Virginian whiskey. Small batch runs 32.99 in the Virginian ABC stores and is almost always on the shelf along with the port finished. I buy my Virginian spirits in September which is Virginian Spirits month and there is a 20% discount - which would put the small batch into the same price range as Buffalo Trace. I do prefer the single barrel, which is $54, though it has been added to the state's allocated list and is getting tougher to find on the shelf. Also, Bowman has a Pot Still which could explain the different mouth feel you are getting.
I tried ordering this in my shop last week and the distributor said "oh wait sorry it's allocated. I have to ask my bosses up the chain if we can sell it to you." Spoiler alert, I wasn't able to get it. Yet here I am watching this video a week later and the you guys are reviewing it. The universe has a sick sense of humor...
I had always heard this was mash bill #2 triple distilled. I still haven't tried anything from Bowman, and I'm not sure why. I may have avoided because it was associated with Buffalo Trace, since I usually file anything from Buffalo Trace under the "uncultured swine" column. So maybe a little bit of that and triple distillation is kind of a red flag for me. It makes me think that they're stripping a lot of the flavor out of the spirit. I should still give it a try though.
Great video, Balvenie plzzzzz. Curiosity Public, if you don't mind me asking, why haven't you reviewed a Balvenie product yet? It's widely available, is very good quality (in my opinion), their batches are consistent, and I'm sure a lot of your viewers already drink it. It would be cool to see a drinkthrough (TM) of the 12, 12 American Oak, 14 Caribbean and either the 15 or 21. Expensive lineup but you've been there and done that. Love the channel, keep it up!
no particular reason - we just have a mountain of things to be reviewed, and it just hasn't made it to the top of the list yet. We will get to a Balvenie product eventually though!
Watching you guys hang out makes me wish I had friends.
You guys are great. First time i have watched you three. ill watch again.

I definitely buy this over BTrace. Have two back ups and is a great gifter. Bottle is unique also.
Why does Jules wear the same outfit in every video?

It’s everywhere. Buffalo Trace is never here in NC but this sits on the shelf. Great value.

I have bought that bottle in VA and AK and have seen it in several other states. Within a dollar of $33 anywhere I see it.
This is pretty much always available in Wisconsin when every BT product (yes even ancient age) flies off the shelf. I'll have to check it out.

I bought it for $29.99 in STL last weekend.

I did not like this. Maybe the pot still thing?
Just picked up one at $32 on a whim. Can't wait to try it now.
I live in Virginia and buffalo trace is never in stock but bowman brothers is always in stock
Nothing like a Sazerac ménage à trois. Got to visit there. They wouldn't say what is being re-distilled, but they do say this is 6 year minimum.
Great video, guys! Always look forward to your stuff

77 seems low considering the way you guys raved about this.
$32.99 in Virginia Beach. John Bowman $56.99 A. Smith Bowman Cask Strength $99.99 (Lottery only here)
Bowman seems to kind of fly under the radar. Only thing I've tried from them was the Isaac Bowman Port Finished, but I enjoyed it.
I like it. Reminds me of strawberries and cream but mine is a pick. Says it’s a single barrel but also says small batch. Confusing.
It’s $32.99. Here in SF.
32.99 in VA ABC.
the single barrel is better then Blantons.
You guys are cool
You guys liked this more than I did. I liked it a lot when I first opened it and then it turned into a weird oaky/funky finish.
It shouldn’t really matter DO single barrels
$27.99 at Woodmans, a little more at Binny's. Dutch, huge Maiden fan, 666, not a devil worshipper, love the shirt.
