Passed on this year at MSRP: Elijah Craig 18, OF 1924, 1792 12 Year (twice). Bought a 10 year ECBP Toasted Barrel for $100 and it is the second best whiskey I had this year next to GTS. Better than Blantons SFTB. I would buy a back up
I would never have that Cartoon Whiskey on my shelf, Caribou crossing is everywhere in michigan and only $49 (not worth $20 to me) .MWND is $149 here and is sitting on alot of shelves 🤔. Just left a liquor store that had 3 Russell's 15 bottles yesterday and sold them to one guy for $500 ea.😖, Saw a few of the Savage and Cooke bottles in the case for $99 the bib is pretty tasty and I just picked up a 113 proof cask strength finished in zinfandel barrels for $59😉 Cheers and Happy New Year 👍 🥃💯
You are correct the Willet wheat isn’t worth $80.00 let alone 200-300. I got offered OFC for $2500 at a store in California. More than 1k for a bottle of scotch or bourbon is tough.
On the old label and new label Rare Breed, if there are any differences, they are very slight as per the bottles I have. Rare Breed is one of my constant stock bourbons so they had better not mess with it! (Unless it was to change the product line to non-chill filtered…)
I would pick up that makers mark set. I have only tried the 46 and og version. Like you said it’s crazy that they have that 2019 pick part of it still.
The green is higher ABV and more herbal while the yellow is lower ABV and a little sweeter. I totally agree that they are not the best on their own, but a Last Word is one of my go to non-whisky cocktails. Last Word: (Shaken, strained in a Coupe, Cherry Garnish) 1 oz Gin 1 oz Green Chartreuse 1 oz Maraschino Liqueur 1 oz Lime Juice
I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison of the different Heart Release batches, which I know there have been at least three of. I'm guessing the first released batch was the 111.7 proof, which I've seen three channels give negative reviews of. Guessing the second released was the 112.0 and the third released was the 112.6. There seems to be a *lot* of difference of opinion on The Heart Release and I'm thinking it may be down to batch variation. (I haven't run across anyone comparing two or three batches side by side so, to my knowledge, whoever does it would be the first.)
@@Best_Overserved_--_No_Ice that’s good to know. I would love to do that as I am a big makers guy. I knew there was two but had no idea there were 3. The hunt begins.
@@TheWhiskeyCove, The 112.6 release is flying under the radar. A channel that reviewed the 112.0 said that it was "bottled in June and is the second release of The Heart" which makes me think the 112.6 is the third release. I haven't been able to find any channel that's reviewed the 112.6. And could find only *one* online 112.6 review, and that was an October 31st blog post. There is one California liquor store advertising specifically the "112.6" proof release -- listed as a "New Arrival" -- but it's pick up at the store only, no shipping. I do know of a reputable liquor store (that I've ordered from before) that ships and shows online a picture of the 112.6 bottle but you'd probably have to call or email to confirm that's the bottle they have in stock. Sale price is 65 and shipped it's 85. If interested let me know and I'll email you the name of the store.
@@TheWhiskeyCove, I don't think I've seen any bottle elicit more negative reviews than what I have seen with the *111.7* Heart Release batch ... Just today another channel came out with a review of the 111.7 where they said "don't waste your money." They finished the review with, "I will take Maker's Mark 101 over this. I will take Maker's 46 over this. I think this was a big letdown. I think this is a marketing ploy. I don't think this has anything to actually stand on besides them putting some magical words on a new label saying 'Oh, this is great, we're gonna charge you $75 and f*** you up the a** with it.' 100% that's what this is. That's our review. Don't buy the bottle." Still thinking of going back to that store and picking up that 111.7? If I had a channel and had all three batches I think I'd title the video "Maker's Mark Heart Release: All Three Batches Compared." Like I said before, I haven't seen even a two-batch comparison anywhere.
@@Best_Overserved_--_No_Ice yep as soon as they got bought out, their quality took a nose-dive. Not surprised by that unfortunately, that's how things usually go.
Wohooo an old fire cooler just chillaxing? That’s some cray cray right there. Welcome back bourbon lovers. Looks like crazy is slowing down.
Keep it coming I say.
Another great video. I agree on passing up on the Weller 12 and Hancock for the specified prices. Blanton’s regular by me is now $89 retail.
There’s no end to the high price blantons will peak at. I was ok with $70 now I’m not picking it up anymore.
Another great video. Glad to see some bottles and prices starting to loosen up a bit!
More to come we all hope. Cheers.
Please continue these. I appreciate seeing prices.
I’m glad you like it. I will keep posting. I think I’ll do the part two.
If only everyone passed on these horrible prices. Great vid Patrick!
It would be nice to see things come back down to earth wouldn’t it?

What was the ask on the 1924
There are 2 bottles of Savage and Cook (in the picture with the Pinhook Collaboration) that are definitely worth a look. Cheers!
Yeah I’m always looking for good ones to try. Thanks for the heads up.

That is crazy for the Russell's 15 but that’s what can happen when demand sky rockets.
Great vid. Hancocks was available locally at total wine in NorCal for 62 and i still passed 😅
Sometimes you just have to walk away, right?
@ absolutely. Great vid, I really enjoy these!!

When I tasted that willet it came across very spikey and dis functional. It could have changed by now but for the price it was rough.

I may even go back and get it just because that 2019 pick interests me so much.
Should’ve gotten the green chartreuse! That’s stuff is impossible to find now. I also passed on an OFC 2005
Thanks for the heads up on that one Thomas. I’ll pick it up for the bar if I see it again for sub $75

Gotta have Green Chartreuse on your bar. How do you make a Last Word without it?

Good pass on those Fortaleza. Those prices were nuts. Maybe the blanco but the repo was double at least.

That Basil Hayden's Rye is the old labeling. If you notice they have taken the 's off of the name.
Yeah it looked like an older one from a few years back. I’m not sure if it’s any good though.
Makes me laugh we can still get Eagle Rare in the UK for £38 ($47) Inc taxes 😂
700 ml bottle though right?

@TheWhiskeyCove Exactly. In a sea of NDP's it's ok. Copper and cask and back bone offer a better value then 90% of the market imo
I've seen MWND all over Denver the past month. Nobody is buying it, way too expensive now.
Yep same here. It’ll stay like that for months.
