Thanks for taking the time to comment, I’m so happy you gave it a try and you enjoyed it 😊. As far as the having to add water it may be based on your elevation, I’m about 100’ above sea level and the higher you go the more liquid you need to add (1-2 tbsp per 1000’). Not sure if that’s the case for you but just thought I’d mention it. Thanks again for watching and commenting 👨‍🍳

Glenn have tried a lot of different french bread recipes. This one was so well explained and video was awesome. My loaf came out just like your in the video. It was crusty on the outside and oh the inside was soft and sliced beautiful. Changed your menu made red chile with pork and fresh cooked pinto beans . wow i too like chile and soups with french bread. Though i still make homemade tortillas i prefer the bread. Will be trying your white chile it looks delicious.

Thanks for taking the time to leave such a great comment! I’m glad you enjoyed the recipe, making bread is much easier than most people realize. Some red chili sound good 😋. I grew up with homemade tortillas and love them, but there are some meals that just need a piece of fresh bread. Thanks for watching! Let me know what you think of the white chili.

Pro tip - water , yeast and sugar. Mix that up let it munch away. Give it a few mins should start getting semi foamy. Then you know yeast is good. I do similar I used double everything and make one big giant loaf. It rises for 2 hours. Then taken out loaf formed, back on pan, rise another hour and then it’s ready for the egg wash. Comes out really nice, I’m using 00 flour, I’ve used ap flour too, both seem the same I guess.

Excellent presentation and the camerawork was spot on. I’m curious though as to what volumes/masses of ingredients you used. If you want to appeal to a wider audience might i suggest you also (perhaps in brackets) use metric system measurements. Yes, I noticed in the video he said 2 but the list says 1. I just made 2 batches of the dough not knowing which to do. Seemed like the one with 2 tablespoons had a better dough consistency. I will let you know which one turns out better.

So, I noticed several things with my loaf that had 2 tablespoons of oil. The dough held together much better than the other loaf with only 1 tablespoon of oil. It rose better so my loaf with 2 tablespoons was much bigger and fluffier. It also baked much more evenly for some reason. And last, it was much softer and had a better texture then the loaf with only one tablespoon of oil.
One other thing I will mention but not having to do with oil is, I had to adjust the baking time. Neither loaf was quite ready after 25 minutes. So I put them in for 12 minutes, then used the egg wash again and baked for 13 minutes, then used the egg wash a third time and baked for another 10 minutes.

Honestly I’ve never tried. But I have heard that yeasted bread dough can be frozen once it is shaped after the first rise. Let me know if you try. Thanks for watching!

I haven’t posted anything on this channel in a while because I’ve been working on another channel I have that is more of a passion for me ua-cam.com/channels/pWquuZsxf_shuOAWcIWMew.html The funny thing is since COVID my cooking channel really started growing because of the bread recipes. I though that you should never add salt with the yeast in the fermentation stage but only in the flour mixing?

One packet of yeast equals 2 1/4 teaspoons. The bowl is greased with olive oil but really you can use any kind of cooking oil or butter. The corn mill is for texture and to help keep it from sticking to the pan. Hope this helps, sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for watching 🙂

Hey, sorry to hear that. Sometimes the recipe needs to be modified with either less or more flour based on altitude. You can always add a table spoon of water at a time till it becomes a good consistency. Sorry I didn’t catch this comment in time to save your dough 😔. Hopefully it came out well for you. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." -John 3:16. @@cookingwithglen152I am glad that you got out of that life and have stability and a family, God is good. My concern is that we don't invite Jesus into our life to go to heaven, Jesus died for the remission of sin, was buried and rose from the dead the third day so we can receive the free gift of salvation through believing on Jesus.
