Lol. But it's so much fun watching my buddies lift their rods straight up. I tell them all the time but they never listen so for me it's a blast. I might show them this video unless I'm feeling cute... Haha
Pro tip... in order not to break your rod don’t assume your wife is holding the door while you walk through with a brand new rod... went from a 7 medium heavy to a 6’4 heavy.....
It is true that dry carpet and fish slime don't mix but it is also true that in many tournaments nets are not allowed so there is a certain level of practice and technique involved to be successful in landing fish this way. When done correctly, boat flipped fish can be released unharmed with minimal if any exposure to the carpet. We do appreciate your attitude towards this. Nets come in very handy. Especially if you can find a net like the frabill conservation series that doesn't damaged fins and has a smooth rubber coating. Thanks for the comment-
Great vid!

I shall now only refer to it as boat flop instead of boat flip. Great tip. Thanks!

Excellent instruction! But I catch so few fish over 3 lbs where I live, I'm still not going to try it on anything over about 15-16" :)

What was all the soft plastics that he had. Who makes them and what are they called?
How about using a net ant not let the fish flop all over the deck.

How do I grow a stache that epic. You make Tom Selleck double take that bad ride!
I broke one of my rods high sticking a fish once. I use a net or grab the lip on every fish over 5lbs. I'd never flip an 8+lber.
Jeremiah Giles a big one, nice 🎣👍🏼💪🏻
