Following from my above comment, how did Ghana then ended up at its present geographical location? (Kwame Nkrumah was indeed a great knowledgeable man. He simply went back (sankofa) to claim our old glorious name. First West aftican empire to first west African country to snatch independence from the grips of the British. We great indeed.

    • @dan.S5050

Indeed, we've since learned - from our own historians in Ghana - that when Nkrumah proposed this new name for the Gold Coast, he 'hoped to imbue and restore some of that sense of a great warrior people in his new country'. He dreamt of present day Ghanaians leading the charge to reclaim and restore. He wanted this name to remind his country men and women of how 'great' we were as a people before and hopefully inspire the rest of the people on the continent to see ourselves as capable again - of anything we want to be.
This vision, I'm glad to say, is still largely imprinted into every Ghanaian today.
Ghanaians still see themselves as a 'hope', 'gateway' and 'star' of Africa.
Names do really make a difference.

@@diafarsouare3424 My bro, the oral history of the Akans states that after migrating from Kemet and Sudan, they settled at ancient Ghana. They claim that after several invasion from the Arabic Amoravids to convert them into Islam, they left to the Kong in present Cote d'ivoire. From Kong, they came to present day Ghana. The Akans left together with some Sonnike and Mande groups who settled in Burkina and Northern Ghana. This is the oral history of the Akans for thousands of years. It corresponds exactly with that of the Lady. The Akans can be lying about this. The name Gana for the kings of ancient Ghana has something to do with Nana, the title of the kings of modern state Ghana. Gana and Nana means the same thing. It means warrior king. Also I know, the Mande and Sonninke are not Matrilineal but Patrilineal. But the Akans who claim to have settled at ancient Ghana are Matrilineal. The Akans are not claiming to have founded the empire, but they passed through, settled there and even ruled at some point. The depictions of the kings clad in gold and sitting in palanquins are only found amongst the Akans of present day Ghana.

      Aloha ahiahi,
Not sure if I can be of help.
My best advice would be learn African. Specifically Southeastern and Eastern African.
My research has led me to South Africa, East Africa, and Madagascar Bantu populations, in regards to Pacific Islanders and African history.
      A mix of things:
      1) Bantu symbols found throughout Polynesia/ Micronesia.
Such as the garment in a Marshallese museum with Bantu African recognized symbols on it.
Or the popular Samoan tatau, that's a west african andinkra.
      2) Ōlelo Hawaii words that have been classified austronesian but are found throughout the Bantu language in Southeast and East Africa.
Ex: kuokoa, kamau, Makua, Tonga, Malama, Makena, just to name a few.
These are African Bantu/ swahili words. But also Austronesian Ōlelo Hawaii words at the same time.
      As far as Melanesia.....
I've only stumbled across the Ni Vanuatu people having a water dance similar to the Biaka pygmy people in central Africa.
There are also garments and traditional dance that is similar to Ghana traditional garment and dance. Found with Melanesians.
Check out Bantu in Britannica encyclopedia. Not the popular "majority theory", but the unpopular unknown "minority theory".
It speaks about the Bantu people arriving 2000 years ago and meeting a people who introduced us to a Malaysian crop we know as taro today.
(Bantu people have different names for it today).
      Just to get you started.
Lemme know what you find. I'm always searching for new info to add.

An excellent explanation of the ancient Ghana empires rules by kingdom, much effort is put into your talks, I enjoyed your educated forum. Maybe a modern Ghana can parallel the identity of the Ghanaian. How the carona virus affecting them?more day to day topics, destroying Africa 🌍. All other races know africa is wealthy in resources, gold, platinum, diamond so many minerals. Africa cannot unite until they get equal technology as to resources.

Thank you for this video essay, Doctor. Has any of the great African empires kept a written account of their empires and the key people involved?

The records have been distroyed by the Invaders to keep us where we are today that is the real truth. Just google the Shabaka Stone and where it is today. But Nature loves us so much and she has giving us great historians who are doing a great work but it seems our brains are hijacked so it is not easy for us to make good use of their great work done. The same with the Atifacts.
