I thought this was a very cool way to pay homage to Eddie and I’m sure it would’ve sounded much better with better audio. Don’t get me wrong no one will probably ever list C.C. on their Mount Rushmore of axemen but imo he’s very underrated and had some great riffs that sold millions of records and put asses in seats!

Glad he was able to watch little kids on UA-cam play the easy part of eruption and learn it. If you add all of the band poison up, you get almost a full talented person.

I grew up loving guitar solos, but times have changed and now they just seem like so much wanking. CC has some cool solos in the context of songs - good melodic stuff. In that context, solos are still cool.

B league is not an indictment of their skills or talents, they simply aren't great which is much more than technical proficiency on the guitar, and guys who do instrumental albums have a much easier go at showing off their chops. But I'd say none of those guys are great songwriters. Rhoads..van halen were great songwriters using two different approaches. Cc is very good, he's certainly not technically great, but he's certainly better than the average guitar player. I don't even insult musicians on their musicianship when I can't even play an instrument at a passable level, buts really a relative comparison. Malmsteen..Vai ..Sateiani..impellitteri, all highly skilled guys, but not great songwriters
I’m not looking at it from songwriting standpoint obviously, but Yngwie has written some very good songs early in his career like on Odyssey and Marching/Rising Force, now he’s just stuck in wash, rinse, repeat cycle . As for Vai he is a very good song writer had an excellent album he wrote with Devin Townsend in 93 ish called Sex and Religion, Passi and Joe while maybe not a “lyrical songwriter” when you think of memorable ear worm “radio” hits has a ton of very melodic guitar melody driven songs that frankly if radio want locked into vocal Songs only would be incredibly hit for sky like Mystical Potato Groove Thing, Satch Boogie, Flying in a Blue Dream, Summer Somg and Crush of Love are all extremely memorable if you’ve listened to them with the same ears you hear vocal melody types songs.
CC can be outplayed any day Guitar Center by a number of 15 year old. Not saying he’s terrible he’s just very average the licks he cops from Eddie are so obvious and not as complicated as most would think of you play and he doesn’t even play them All that cleanly or that well lol 😆 Props to all these band lA for staying relevant although all are legacy bands now as nothing they’ve released in the last 20 years is all that good or played much at all.
