A few years ago I remembered a smell, a perfume from the 1970s a girlfriend wore. I didn't smell it, there was nothing in the house that reminded me of it, but my mind conjured the exact aroma I hadn't come across in decades. In doing so a rush of emotions impressed themselves upon me, including how I felt as a teenager. Most memory is parenthetical, a jumble of incidents and anecdotes that define the past in the present. This on the other hand, was like being there for a few moments, an old me hidden but perfectly preserved in the current one. On what psychic backburner had that been bubbling away?

@@borderlands6606 I remember a moment in my own life where I remembered a perfume that was from very early childhood, that took me back as well, I was walking on the road going back home when I thought I could smell it, the moment didn’t last very long but the feelings it conjured are still with me today, decades later.

Yes! This relates to the notion of qualia as the essence of consciousness, the sense of being there. Qualia memory is famously described by Wordsworth in 'The Daffodils': "When oft upon my couch I lie/In vacant or in pensive mood/They flash upon my inward eye/Which is the bliss of solitude". Qualia memory flashbacks can be triggered by a sensory input, smell, taste, sound, sight or feeling; they can be bidden or conjured up - or most fascinating - happen spontaneously. The sense of being there, congruent, a perfect match to the original subjective experience. Then that moment fades away, leaving a joyous sense of recognition. I have written extensively about this phenomenon on my blog (can't link in a UA-cam comment sadly). The most interesting qualia memory flashbacks are those which I recognise... but not from this lifetime.

@@MichaelDembinski It's the unbidden experiences I find interesting. It's possible to accommodate physical smells that trigger olfactory memories, but a memory of a smell is like a Russian doll of memory, Its completeness of place, language and emotion seemingly lost to time, is too exhaustive to be described as a "memory". There are no prompts or cues, just a complete other mental landscape transposing itself on and contained within the present.

Over 20 years ago working as a therapist with a process I’d developed that permanently and completely deletes negative traumatic memories I found that when two or more individuals shared a common traumatic memory that while assisting one person delete theirs it also positively affected the other’s negative memory even when the latter was sequestered and unaware of my work with the first person. This led me to the conclusion that memories exist outside of the mind/brain in some collective memory bank “field” and that the brain, like a cell phone, was simply a transceiver of such information.

That's fascinating! Has this happened many times? I suppose other possible options would be that the duration of time reduced the negativity associated with the experience for the other individuals not receiving therapy, or perhaps that they had some type of therapy that you were unaware of but a fascinating observation nonetheless. I am grateful and humbled by this process. It allows me to forgive ancient things and live more freely. This meditation takes me to what some call the Akashic record. I remember reoccurring "waking up" within a dream and saw that I was in "futuristic" space station being in a giant artificial gravity wheel having a fight with one of the doctors in white coats telling me: "it will all come back" (remembering) ... Seeing myself holding a fist as a symbol of resistance, what is happening to me ... Then slowly I remembered who he was and that I trusted him for a long, long time. Like I knew him for ages. That feeling of "complete safety & serenity" ... at that movement, I chose to accept anything they are doing to me was "necessary" for whatever purpose. I was laying on a sterile hospital type, comfortable adjustable bed with 4 people surrounding me. 2 on each side. One is pouring a jelly like liquid in to my face, another is injecting stuff on the other side of my head, and the other two were making sure I stayed in the chair-like bed.
Then I realized just before I "dozed off" that they betrayed my trust in them! ... This energy was SO strong it was totally imprinted to current "presence" here on Earth.
What I just explained here have two aspects: ... Somehow I know they think it is necessary what they do >>> and I feel/sense absolutely no "evil intent" >>> BUT they had to LIE to me to do things a certain way ... And that really pissed me off.
This is a reoccurring theme happened in so many different dreams/visions, and it felt like it happened in the future, sending me back to now here!
My whole life, am super allergic when people are not authentic, "playing nice" not being genuine ... and made it very clear to all why I feel the need to raise certain questions to learn WHY people behave in a certain way. Hence, psychology became like "breathing" to me. It is part of who I am now.
There is a pattern of having strong vivid "visionary" dreams, and mostly it is like getting an "upgrade" ... On average, I have them once a few years. But now I have them multiple times last few weeks ... So YES there IS something going right now and coming months.
What I have learned is that having access to "instant awareness" at the moment it is needed to have that kind of access ... is "totally normal" and extremely common in the "after life" or "spiritual world" hence there is no need for having a "memory" like physical Earth people do ... Memories can be altered because of our injected projections/expectations/interpretations mixed with emotions that are mostly traumas of the past, BLURRING (contaminating) factual unfiltered observations/experiences.
We assume we are defined having memories, and we are shaped through our experiences, correct? ... What if that is a form of self-conditioning preventing you gaining access to who you truly are?
How many different "workshops" & "therapies" out there that are about letting go of what is holding you back to live your life ... Going beyond the "eternal victim mode" ... "Poor me mentality" breeds more than often "poor me reality".
When we meditate and succeed to (temporary) become FREE from (judgmental) labels we use on almost anything 24/7 ... There is something inside ALL OF US that is beyond all "thinking" beyond all thoughts you had, have and going to have combined ... Same for all other people having thoughts about you, who you're "suppose to be" past present & future.
This "essence" is existence that goes much deeper than "having a memory" with all the "conclusions" & "interpretations" we are conditioned to have in a certain way.
Those who can not access "instant awareness" often depend on programmed behavior spoon-fed to them ... this could come from all kinds of self-imposed beliefs. Many of them are very helpful & useful to serve a specific purpose ... but not all!
I have created a unique "meditation technique" for myself and discussed it long time ago on Radio & TV Amsterdam in the mid 1990s getting lots of fascinating feedback from the audience.
Explaining that it may not work for you, but it does for me ... all depends on your attitude/mentality/self-imposed limitations etc. etc. ... If it does not work for you, I will not judge you being "bad" or being "dumb" or whatever ... Because I am fully aware that everybody is unique, having their own "spiritual journey" of "self discoveries" that is beyond having programmed assumptions.

Non-Scientist here - but can someone explain... In an entirely saturated, closed system - wouldn't time and movement itself naturally create morphic fields of increased probability through 'ontological hydraulics' - given that every action would affect everything else? The result being, that we end up as present-dwelling avatars of history. Or is that too simplistic?

Waking dreams are remembered but normal dreams dreams are not. My theory is Waking Dreams are a link to the other side therefore they are remembered in detail as well My take is they are real. I ponder as yet science only postulates where memory is located, Science presumes memory is Global. Why not think of memory is perhaps stored somewhere else than our brain. Could all of us have a connection of different depths to the collective. Our Brains are only receivers or have limited processes in terms of memory.

I think perhaps that when the brain is growing it perhaps matches someone else's brains “fingerprints” as it forms, and you are able to receive “memory” from the morphic fields that Rupert suggests, perhaps?
I think, with an open mind, that if the brain is a receiver of some sort, then as it morphs into an adult brain where it no longer changes form, i wonder if there is a possibility that it could match that pattern of someone else and then able to “receive” those thoughts or memories. I am sure that our brains are as different to each other as faces are, and we do often see people who are their doppelgangers.
Just an idea, of course. I do enjoy thinking outside the box, so to speak.

Local memory is stored in the gap between the topological edge of our physicality and the boundary of our energetic field. This is what we refer to as working memory, when in fact it's our ability to work our memory, from a conscious perspective. The topological edge of human skin works in conjunction with the boundary condition of the electromagnetic field, via Consciousness, to maintain homeostasis.

Perhaps it is how we are are tuned to map the world and impressions onto thought and word - that in this process much nuance is lost. I imagine the process, or skill, has evolved with the fact that we are extraordinarly social animals - that any nuance lost has been made up for with the blunt instrument of the word.

@@sr3d-microphones Hi. Yes. Let's see if I can remember it! The reference to reptilian minds was ... tell you what, a quick search on 'reptilian brain' will be more effective than me attempting to explain it. Very simply it is thought to be an older, deeper part of the brain, evolved in our very distant ancestors, and still functioning and carrying out essential tasks.
The idea was that perhaps the reptilian brain processed smells (rather than than the thought association that occurs in the higher brain). Olfactory senses being essential to our reptilian ancestors. Thus smells are handled differently to other memories. The mechanism is deeper hence the recall more vivid.

@@sr3d-microphones Actually, on reflection, I think the poorly explained mechanism in my original comment above is extremely significant. I've not heard the idea expressed before. I'll just add a little to it before I forget.
The idea is that primary to thought in terms of actual labels and words is feeling/emotion/vibe. When we think or recall first comes the vibe then there is a searching for a suitable word or phrase that is adequately close to the vibe to map on to it. The habit of mapping 'words' onto vibe is so habitual that we usually cease to even notice the vibe. Very young children experience the world in vibe.

Nonetheless one can walk down memory lane. Take my wife for instance, or at least that photo of a beach that reminds me of the walk I had yesterday, with my wife. Focusing on my wife evokes a very complex 'chord' of impressions, some impressions in that chord jump to the surface, some can be teased out if there is purpose. The process of how that memory, at first a hazy, borderless kind of emotion kind of morphs or maps onto the world of things and words is intimately bound up in the process.

The will is perception. That’s why when one says - Thy Will be done - what one is asking is a change of perception, a miracle. Surrendering the personal will to God has to do with surrendering the believe in perception and asking for truth to be revealed instead of assuming that it can be known through the mind.

    • @Yambataller
      @Yambataller День тому

To believe in the mind is making the mind God, or looking for salvation or truth where it can’t be found.
If we analyze the past, a memory is just how we perceived a certain event. It’s not necessarily what happened but only how we were perceiving it from a programmed mind in that moment of time; which only happened because there is an automatic recording system and an instant taking of authorship of the experience of the playing of the recording. It’s like a triple blind trick and we fall for it 99,9% of the time.
The ‘mind’ then is a recollection of programs trying to analyze recorded programs, and believing itself to be an object through different unconscious programs.
Even if one has a revelation of some truth, like love for example, the mind will take authorship of it and analyze it and make a distorted story out of it. The programmed mind distorts truth and project illusions. That’s all it does constantly. It can’t be trusted.
The Mind is actually silence and only a tiny bit of it is the thinking mind (ego) which takes all of the attention because of the vanity of ‘me’ and the fear of an imaginary death of the thing it believes itself to be.
The mind is a thief trying to play policeman. It distorts subjectivity into objectivity and that’s how it creates the illusion of separation, which all minds agree to, because they all have the same operative system (narcissism).

perhaps the solution to the di lemma is to stop looking in the place you thought the brain was and start looking where the action is that must be where the brain is/was/wool βε again when the battery located in the cranium dispenses the juice that the brains body lets said high level energy storage device know is happening through the sea which sees light sounds right and is the aether in condensed form flowing the show as the juice on the go aeither meets the message half way or some nonsense causes a short in the circuit and the same incorrect message turns the sane co muni cat ion into the same repet it ive heard that cat song before nonsense that only the lonely are ever asking for more of as cats meow from hot tin roofs in the heat of the night
the mind is in every cell of your wondering body and that big old battery located between the golden pillars of hera right there behind the eyes of the oracle horus wired into the horns of Ra where the vibratory picture of the frequency your salt water lenses just sent back through the pool of tears swimming around at the top of the bean stalk that jack runs up and down knowing in the stand that the in is out and the down is up when the left foot of some deep thinker lets the wondering you of you ness now in k what the temprature is in ten ways before the talker gets a complex number imagined and a unit tray sorted out for full ness of thought.
as with the nonsense that poor little old bobby sapolsky is babbling about people not being required to stop and think before acting because they are alive and that makes the thought process un knowable as much as it is for those who choose not to know it un control able.
substitute one word for the other and wala bobs your uncle...your mind is not located in the brain bucket shop unless the circuit which keeps your current flowing is shorted out as the result of too many nonsense ions bouncing around and consequently up against the idea of real reality that really exist in each cell down to the atom of your body that knows exactly how to keep you healthy happy and warm if only you the operator of the organs and thus the organ is mmmm would just shut up and listen to yourself speak with the ears you have to hear not through the head set that some bozo gave you for an X mass extinct ion pre sent present that if listened to often enough will kill you dead as a door nail sooner rather than later

Also Sheldrake how you have not looked into Remote Viewing is strange to me, you have mentioned it only once in your videos totally, Edward Riordan (also a UA-camr) is one of the best remote viewers in the world at the moment, it’s unbelievable what he can do. And lastly please check my playlist regarding supernatural phenomena. Cheers.

Memories are everything you are. Without them, consider what or who you'd be. If upon tomorrow you awakened with SOLELY your motor controls and understanding of English and speech, but NOTHING else... "who" would you be? Nothing. No one. A useless, empty and blank slate. And that's PRECISELY what happens when you're born; you can carry nothing beyond the void veil.

"Before I start, I must see my end. Destination known, my mind's journey now begins. Upon my chariot, heart and soul's fate revealed. In time, all points converge; hope's strength, resteeled. But to earn final peace at the universe's endless refrain, we must see all in nothingness... before we start again."

@@Novastar.SaberCombat all the other animals don’t seem to know anything else apart from what’s in their awakening moments, I doubt very much they think what they did yesterday, unless they see something that had an impact on them in a past memory.
Are we fortunate to be able to have the ability to do what we do (with our abilities with memory), or is it an unfortunate accident that impacts everything in the animal kingdom?

It's complicated. One way to look at it is actually a little like the way digital drives have been programmed to handle data. The bottom line is that all too often, data files are fragmented and stored non-contiguously. The short analogy here is that your memory may not "totally, absolutely, perfectly" replay an event which you recall "in sequential order". In fact, it may even blend OTHER moments (sometimes non-related ones) into certain memories which don't truly belong, but somehow ended up "paired" with these events, triggers, etc. 🤔 It's not easy to explain because--like our dreams--both Time & Reality are FREEFORM during these moments. You may believe that you recall X, Y, or Z accurately, but unless you wrote it down or recorded it back when it happened... who knows what the truth of true is now!
      Must give us pause.

Ugh. Aristotle is the worst possible "place to start!" Aristotle changed a lot of the Platonic, Hermetic, Mystery religion insights, including what Memory was. Aristotle represents a decided left turn into the rational and the physical about which the ancients would be aghast. For the ancients, Memory was a spiritual being, or, at the least, created and aided by spiritual impulses. For the ancient Greeks, Memory was a goddess and the mother of the nine muses. Good on Sheldrake to get the conversation immediately back on track after this poor "start" so that we can end closer to the truth.

Very interesting concept the one of morphic resonance (MR)! I've never been convinced that the brain is a computer with a HDD for memory storage. To me it was a way of oversimplifying the problem of locating the memory; it was a shortcut by exaptation: a computer works like this, then, the brain must be the same or similar to a computer.
Moreover, MR could be a fundamental component by which tulpamancers access the memory of others by imaginaly personifying a particular individual.

The big problem with this is how easy it is in ourrl hubris to justify the means for very corrupted causality between the means and the ends. It's important to do no harm in the moment, in real terms, as much as is possible. That's our assignment and for someone with the outrageously disparate distribution of power and wealth, for a man like Elon, it's unfortunately quite easy to get lost in the woods.

    • @sr3d-microphones
      @sr3d-microphones 2 дні тому

@@loriw1234 seems like morphic fields are more likely as if the brain is a receiver of memory - then the buildup of plaques? Could very well be the stuff that inhibits memory reception? My own father didn’t recognise me, but knew I was someone important to him, so getting something from memory, but not full clarity. Some can focus on very early memories but the more recent ones are impacted, the more you think about it the more this seems a likely reason if indeed the brain has a receiver of some kind, that simply becomes more and more defocused starting with the reception of recent recollection first, then goes deep and deeper into the brain as the disease progresses.
      Just an idea 💡

Terminal lucidity is a well-attested phenomenon, known to hospice workers and others. People with long term dementia will become talkative and coherent shortly before their death. It's as if their physical hard drive crashed, and their spiritual mainframe computer defrags the contents before setting it aside for more important duties.
