This song and Lullaby really amaze me. Not even because of Maynard's voice (that is innately the best element to these songs), but because the lyrics are beyond simplistic.
Maynard didn't need to write something elaborate and poetic like he always does, he just wrote a sentence or two and embellished on it, and it made hypnotizing music.
Notice how Maynard sighs at the end. Listen closely to the buildup and you hear him sigh.
The little details in his music are amazing.
Best part of the song.
There's that little breath right at 1:05 which just fits _perfectly_ with the lyrics.
This song ended most nights of hours of drug use. This song also helped me end using drugs. Thank you APC.

I .love how you can just hear snippets of other songs from this album at the end of this track :)
The quiet stuff at the end are lyrics from some of is other songs, like at first you can hear "unmistakable noise i was hearing" from Thinking of you, and you can hear him say "my will" from Rose, which is the best song ever made.

Perfect end to an epic album . I got this album when I was 15 the day it came out . there aren't many albums that emotionally resonate with me .18 years later and and its one of my top 5 fav albums of all time

Anyone else think it would've been perfect if right after that sigh, The Hollow started playing? That would've been a kind of horrifying turn of events to drive the theme of Over in even more. It'd make the listener feel like they were trapped in a cycle. I think that would be brilliant and disturbing.

Shortly after the two minute mark (which I agree he says "unmistakable noise I was hearing"), he says "I am, I will" and that would be from the song "Rose" on this album.
After that, it's really hard to understand. It sounds like he says something about jumping and the note he holds toward the end I believe is the word, "free". Other than that...

It's weird that the sigh that comes in at a little past a minute seems to speak volumes in this song. I don't know if it was Maynard simply expelling air or if he really was trying to drive home the frustration of the song. Maybe I've just looked way too far into a tiny insignificant noise that the mic was never supposed to pick up in the first place...
The Tool song "The Patient" has that same tone to it. I remember another song that gave off the same vibes as this song in a way and it's the song "Disposition" also by Tool.

Edit: and listening to it again, I feel about 99.999999999% sure that any sound that was not meant to be picked up would have been edited out in production :)

Have you ever argued about something with a person? And you think you resolve the issue? But a week later the same damn problem comes up. And you're like "I thought we talked about this? We've been over this before!!" The way he sighs at 1:04-1:05 seems like he is exasperated at having to go over it YET AGAIN. Just a thought. Who knows what it means. And I like the montage of all the songs at the end. Kinda cool.

Sometimes I want to die just to see what it feels like. Must be a great feeling since you only get to experience it once in a lifetime. Leaving all the fake things that surround us in this world from friends, family, love, trust, news, government it goes on and on. I feel like the only things that are real is hatred, suffering, pain depression, and loneliness. Till the time comes I'll kick back enjoy what little time I have left I this world and see what's in the other side when the time comes. Be happy live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment of it for now. It doesn't take much to be happy just be grateful for all the positive things in your life. Sometimes the people you think are happy and care free are the ones who suffer the most. They keep it bottled up inside and try not to make other people feel the same way they do. Anyways I'm not suicidal or anything just going on a rant and talking out of my ass. Goodnight.

Just for the record Tool is the greatest band ever and Maynard is the best songwriter ever. I actually made a list of who I thought was the top 25 greatest rock bands and A Perfect Circle made the list and Tool got the #1 spot. I love Maynard's voice and both bands.
