- I've owned my $4,000.00 honda for about 7 years now and get questions on why I still drive it or "when are you going to get a newer car." So here are the real reasons Why I drive a beater car and why you should too. Enjoy

Why I drive a beater part 2

I'm with you 💯 percent. I'm close to retirement so I'm looking forward to get something newer since I'm also financially stable. I wanted a manual transmission but they are basically non-existent in any newer models.
I only ever drive used affordable cars. I have no debts. 😊
I do doordash and one time I delivered groceries to this million dollar home, it was beautiful but in the driveway there was two old cars. One 2002 Buick and one old Cadillac. A old lady answered the door and I complimented her on the home and she told me her and her husband bought the home 7 years ago. I joked around and said "with this nice home you have some nice cars too", and she told me they bought those cars when they were new and kept them since. After I talked with her for a bit she told me that Buick has over 370k miles and I didnt believe her until she showed me the gauge and it started like it was brand new, I ended up leaving that house with a whole new perspective on life.
Cool story bro. Seriously that’s the kind of stuff that gets you that mansion. I forgot who told me this I think it was my dad, people who have nice cars have cheap homes, people who have beater cars could very likely drive it back into their mansion. That’s why I love my tacoma and will keep it even after the wheels fall off
Lil old lady Buicks are gold. I had a sweet old lady who kept her husbands park avenue running like new and brought it in every 3k miles for an oil change. I would have been comfortable taking the used oil from that car and putting it in mine, still golden.
Were they white? I’ve noticed that a lot of white Americans generally do not care about the car they drive, they’ll have beautiful homes with an average car in the driveway, but minorities will usually spend a lot of money on cars, even when they really don’t have much money, they will buy a nice car to try to seem rich

@@rah.248to some people,,, car's are just transportation doesn't have to be fancy,,,as long as it is reliable,,,
The biggest flex is no car payment. You pay yourself instead of the bank every month😅
You pay to car service instead of yourself having an old car. Thats correct to say.
It’s my humble opinion that I think it depends on the car. In 2010, I bought a 98 Subaru forester for 2800 it had blown head gaskets and needed a new engine. $1500 later , the car got new head gaskets and a used engine. That being said I drove the car trouble free from 2010- 2018. After the engine replacement, All I really did during that time was maintenance. I took that car from Massachusetts to California where she finally died, due to rust from the New England winters. So I spent roughly $4500 on a used vehicle that i kept driving for about 7.5 years. Not a bad deal. In my humble opinion.
I’d rather do that than take on a car note.
Cheers
@@BigFishbone1 Maintaining a car is nowhere near as expensive as having a car payment on a newer car.

Definitely prefer used the way the market has gotten lately. No car payment and you can learn about fixing stuff if you aren't mechanically inclined. Win win in my book

Well put. A used Si is a good car to tinker with
I sold my civic before the market crash i wasted like 3+k on that alone man

@@TheGerbsteve it was an 08. it had minor frame damage.
I don’t drive a beater but my car is approaching 10 years old and the car looks brand new. If you take care of stuff, it will take care of you. Especially true for cars.
Wash once a week, oil changes, simple maintenance def goes a long way !
Great Philosophy" I will not work just to pay off my car."
🤙🏼
I totally agree. It's better for you to own the car, not the other way around.
Yep! Pay CASH buy what you can afford, and do what repairs are needed.
New truck/SUVa are like house mortgage nowadays.
exactly. imagine how many people work at a job they hate just to pay off a car or a house. with those payments gone, and an emergency fund in place your job options open up immensely. for instance im certified in OSHA, 30, 511, and ground safety, all i need is a first aid course and i can go onto a construction site as a safety officer and get paid a salary of over 55k a year but im perfectly happy living and working at a hotel as its maintence making a little over 30 K because there are no big payments i have to make besides insurance and rent and the job is really laid back
I'm 30 years old and I've been driving a faded acura integra since I was 18, my wife absolutely hates it and doesn't want to be seen in it but it's still runs good so no need to buy a new car
That’s amazing. Necessary sacrifice indeed, to spring jump ahead of the herd that spends like drunken sailors. Good job. I’ve gone through 40 beaters, fg2 civic si is my 41st. Made enough money tinkering and fixing etc. them all to offset all my car ownership costs.
Lol she views cars as a fashion accessory
Feel bad for wives that ended up marrying cheapskates and have to deal with all that embarrassment of being shuffled around in old POS. You only live once man. Work a little harder for a promotion or work a few hours a week on a side gig and get her in a decent vehicle. Show her some appreciation and not deny her her dignity. What a crappy life.
@zfunk9 she has a nicer car, that's just what I drive to work lol. I'm not really a big car guy it's not worth paying 30k for a car and higher insurance bills to me. I rather buy another property than a car tbh. I just don't wanna be like most people be stuck with car note with high insurance bill
@@ericzz93 wait yeah that makes sense, why buy a more expensive car when ones working fine, just bc it's fancier, unless it has features that you really use? Das some materialistic bullcrap right there
These cars are insanely reliable and well built. Mine 2010 fg2 was 5 owner when i bought it. Its been wrecked multiple times. Side gig door dash car fir a while long commutes road trips. Curbs, road hazards, amd It still drives perfect at 178k ac blows ice cold. No shakes or noises. Incredible
Indeed! 5 owners, wrecked, and it still runs. Sounds like a great car to me
I refuse to wake up and maintain a bank for years.
You said it I would rather ride a bike than pay the bank and I did for three years in a row
It’s one less thing to worry about
The bank gonna win while u stuck making payments

That’s changed man. You could get a hood car for $4k pre pandemic. These days that $4k car would go for $7k. Beater car is really anything below $8k.
Exactly, if you want used you gotta shop between 5k-7k. The days of the 3k beater are over.
The cash for clunkers probably didn’t help… thanks again government. 🙃
That's OK. His point is just to do it instead of sacking yourself with a never-ending car payment.
@@markwegner6100 agreed, actually looking at the market you can get something decent with 100k miles for around $4,000.00 if you look hard enough. Just gotta do your research and know what car you want. I’m seeing scion tc with about 100k for $4000, pre pandemic it was around $3,000 so it’s not that crazy. Its amazing the differences in the reality of daily life between countries. I live in Brazil and i would kill for a Civic Si and i can safely say that i wouldnt be the only one. Its an absolutely amaizng machine and i hope that i can afford one by the time i get my financial life in place. A beater car here would be something like a 98 Corsa, an 1.0 Clio or some national cars that you would only find here. A 2007 Civic already gives you bragging rights.
é foda cara, esse caro para eles é tipo um uno para nós kkkkkkkk, pqp mano
so true in my area the ones with bragging rights are in 80-200,000 dollar sports cars or my 31k mazda cx5 with soul red crystal paint 😂 Looks super expensive but costs the same as a top of the line new honda civic
Same thing in every latin american country. Honda is semi premium over here, definitely not cheap
Brazilian here. I believe Brazilian take better care of their cars than Americans because servicing your car is more expensive in the US and buying another car is relatively cheaper.
I still have my Fusca 1980 in Brazil and a 2013 Focus in the US. Both can be considered beaters but they are paid for and I like them very much.
Americans have no idea how privileged they are.
It’s crazy I have the same exact car same color same year and I paid 4K for mine and it also needed a clutch 😂 had it for 4 years and I love it. Can’t beat the k series man
You got a hell of a deal
There once was that saying “K is the way.” 😎
bought a 2000 toyota camry with a 174,000 miles for 1800 bucks this year. most perfect and reliable car i've had.
I swear Toyotas are Amazing! I’m going to drop a part 2 to this video soon and show my rav4 I picked up!
@TheGerbsteve I have 4 vehicles. 2 older 1 old & 1 newer. I drive 3/4 vehicles. 1980 sierra grande, my daily 92 tercel, my FUN car '10 IS F & my weekend/mail grabber '20 mirage. I got enough vehicles to last me until I die 😅
You got a deal bro. I paid 1800 for my 98 camry a year ago with 235k. I'm the second owner and the guy I bought it from had every oil change, service, etc written down. Runs great!
That’s a steal nowadays
Please do. Rav 4s are cool.
New cars break down more than older cars too. I’m a tow truck driver and I tow a bunch of newer cars ands I can’t imagine paying 1k a month for financing a car and paying full coverage. I rather take that and fix my old cars lol
Likewise! $1k/month to a car you don’t even own 🤦🏼♂️
Im also a tow driver and I will say that this man is telling the truth. Newer cars are worse.
@@Fa5_Parris I always laugh when I see a new, expensive car on the side of the road. Some people refuse to learn.

Stay under the radar a bit, you know 😎
I just like the idea that beaters you can buy a car that still have most of their life left for a fraction of what they were new. Plus the thrill of the hunt, finding and testing driving cars, the negotiations, the time. Like I'm just a car junkie weirdo. But I love that excitement
Yes. I have gotten some very good deals from used cars.
i got a super clean 2000 100k mi acura tl in green for $3300. it did feel like a high grabbing it from the marketplace all things considered
It's the closest to being a scoundrel in star wars as it gets funding a deal that dealerships would drown upon because they'll receive no royalties.
Nah man, I can relate. There is a good feel walking away from a deal where you made out. One of my plans when I get more space is to buy a bunch of used, fix em, sell em, etc. I'm a car weirdo as well, it's exciting
Dopamine hit different haha
My 2010 civic si 123.000 miles . Runs great . Keep on Tucking !
Also love my beater civic. Mines an 09 si, its an awesome winter car and I have fun fixing all the things the previous owner messed up. My summer car is a 2020 toyota 86 and it is the first car I got new and it goes into the garage for the winter.

@@Amor_Fati_ and then there is this comment. I think this is the most important thing! 🤛🏼
In the American landscape, where roads wind and dreams converge, there exists a humble chariot known as the beater car. Its weathered exterior tells tales of countless journeys, while its steadfast spirit whispers of resilience. Like a seasoned traveler, it navigates the highways of life with grace, embracing each scratch and dent as a mark of character. With simplicity in its veins and freedom in its heart, the beater car offers a sanctuary from the pressures of modernity, where the cost of ownership is measured not in dollars, but in the memories forged along the way.

Nostalgia might be another reason to buy a beater car. Cars bring back memories of a car we had when we were younger
That is a good point. When I was younger, when I first got into the car scene, I was around a lot of civic si’s and preludes..
2013 Honda Accord 123k miles. reliable and drives well. will have for another couple of decades. over half a milli stacked away before 30!

The Civic Si is fun af to drive. they got that old school feel.
Exactly, more mechanical with some nice tech
Ford 11 years old 126K miles. Im good to my ride and my ride is good to me. Living beneath your means is liberating. Inflation is a budget killer. My paid off cars is an inflation buffer.
I never have understood why people constantly buy new cars. I bought a '91 Civic Si in 2004 when I turned 18 and was finally able to go get my license myself. (My parents were useless btw.) Paid $2000 for it and it was in phenomenal condition, with around 60k miles on it. Been driving and maintaining it for 20 years now and it's just about to roll over to 300k miles. Wouldn't trade it for anything. If the original engine ever goes, I'll swap another one in and keep driving it.
My beater is an 04 CRV with 231k. Always reliable. Never fails to start. New cars are nice but this one is payment-free

I drove a 2006 Civic EX coupe for ten years. Lasted 266k miles before a major oil leak needed to be repaired last month (costed more than the car was worth). But I absolutely will always love this generation of the Civic. Timeless design and near bulletproof engine.
That’s a long time. I’d say you got your moneys worth out of it. I agree, love this civic generation and engine simplicity 🤙🏼
I guess you have to ask yourself if what you paid for the repair would buy you something as equally reliable. Probably not these days.
2008 Galaxy Grey FA5. Bought in 2018 in Texas at 107k. Currently living in Ohio, and just hit 180k this weekend. Clear coat was shot when I bought it, looks horrible now. Accidentally backed into my Jeep, has a silver base model trunk right now. Did bolt ons and hondata at 140k. Only time the car has let me down was when the starter died around 160k. Besides regular oil changes, I did new Exedy clutch, hybrid racing CMC, spark plugs, coolant, valve adjustment and more around 145k. About to do a suspension refresh. Car starts right up every time, still gets 28mpg average around backroads, and is FUN to drive. Insurance is roughly $60 a month for a 25 year old. And it’s PAID OFF. I couldn’t imagine spending money on a new car, anything else would feel like a downgrade and I would spend way more money on payments, insurance and maintenance. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. This car is a sign of wealth and happiness through being frugal and finding enjoyment in something simple. Very well put about putting money into investments instead Gerb. 8th gen owners know what life is about!!!
I just bought my 2001 Civic EX for $2900 cash. needed two new CV Axles but other than that she's doing so well. Now i just find myself adding nice things like roof liners and things of that nature, but it is SO much nicer and way more fun than a new car. I'm connected to older cars.
Had one for a few years, good car. They get like 35mpg too! Older cars will never outgrow me 😎
@@TheGerbsteve True said brother! i ran a claybar over the paint the other day and used a rotary buffer and WOW what a difference in the paint. Took 10 hours but man was it worth.

I have an 08 Civic. Love it. Mine still looks new inside and out, around 160k miles. Perfectly maintained, even a transmission fluid drain and fill every 35k miles. I also have a FJ Cruiser with just 85k miles. Got the FJ about 10 years ago, and the Civic about 5 years ago. Bought the FJ when it was 2 years old with 17k miles on it. Bought the Civic when it was 11 years old with 120k miles. Got the Civic mostly to keep miles off my FJ for daily driving. Ended up loving the Civic. Love the FJ too, but only use it when I need the space, during winter, etc.. Paid cash for the Civic, paid 6.5k out the door (one owner with Carfax and perfect maintenance). No car payments in 10 years, and I hope for another 10 years.
Beater cars are the best 🚙👍.. I totally agree 💯. I drive my old Laguna 3 DCI 2007 .bought it X2 years ago for 4200 dollars . It's done now 160000 kilometers, and it's been great . I have changed only the front wheel bearings and worked on the brakes .. it starts every time even in the harsher Swedish winters at - 23 degrees 👌🤣.
-23 is nothing
To me it is.. think the coldest it gets here is 0 degrees, but mainly stays around 25-35 degrees in winter months.
There plenty still on the road, depending what state you in. I have 08 manuel i drive everyday. Parts are easy to find a cheap to work on. Better gas mileage, run forever if you take care of it. Nothing better driving a car that paid off 🙌
How is that a beater car it looks nice to me. Come to the hood to see a real beater
Guess I just based it on the price I paid for it and the town that I live in. It’s paid for, has fade, rust, etc.. everyone in my area drives high end vehicles, such as bmw, Audi, Mercedes..
Yes, it’s totally relative. That’s a nice car, in no way a beater.
Right. That car does not fit the description of a beater. It's actually nice.
First thing I said when I saw the thumbnail 😂
Agreed completely. The uploader of this video is really dumb. I hope he gets sent to a third world country to knock some sense into him.
nice vid. Great reminder to me. I got a 12' civic myself. 267,000km on it. Clear coat fading, one speaker dead, some rust here and there; but she's still my baby.

I had one back in 2008! Loved it!!!! Brought back so many memories 😅
Great video!!! In the past 45 years, my wife and I have purchased 13 cars (the first two were POS when we bought them). Current pair is 20 and 10 years old. 7 of them have been new (including the 20 year old one), 5 have been used. When "it's time" we compare the cost of new vs. used for the model that we want. A lot of times, a new one makes more sense than one that's a couple years old. I'm too old/inflexible/lazy to fix 'em myself, so there is a benefit to new. The fact that we keep them so long probably makes it a wash. We're fortunate that we have a local independent shop that is honest and takes really good care of us.
My car is a 2001 Honda Accord but I bought it used in 2003. It is September 2024 and it is still with me. The inside looks fantastic but I have done some repairs and it still runs good.
I sold my Focus RS and Camry both of which had payments on at the top of the market. I have an FA5 with full bolt ons that I bought for $5k in 2019, and daily 2009 Nissan Murano I got from California for $4k which I keep rust free by spraying fluid film on the undercarriage. Full coverage for both cars is less than $120. Planning to get another FA5. People don't realize how much money you throw away with car payments + insurance.
Fluid Film ?
Yeah, protects underbody from rust & corrosion.
"I'm trying to build wealth" Pretty good reason to drive a car for a long time. Don't let yourself be fooled by marketing, old cars (specially japanese like Honda or Toyota) are perfectly fine for everyday use.
Cars these days all look similar and don't have that raw experience unlike newer ones. Your car will turn more heads than a newer Si. Its styling aged well, sounds better and will still gap the newer civic. The satisfaction of beating a new $20+K car is such a great feeling too.

I bought my '99 Camry in 2000 and it's still my only car, 362k miles on it. Runs and drives great... Has mostly only needed regular maintenance. But I have always been a nut with never going long between oil changes. I don't watch the miles. I watch the color of the oil. When it turns lite brownish, I change it! Because it's never had dirty oil in it, the motor doesn't dirty up the new oil either! When I take the valve cover off. To do a valve cover gasket. The top of the head is clean, no sludge buildup at all. Compression test last year, all cylinders equal and well within spec...

Yeah and these days cars need to stand the test of time before people even think about buying a brand new one, or sorrow may ensue especially the first year of any redesign.. My 1988 Chevy Cavalier Z24 is quick enough to keep up with traffic, its V6 sounds real nice, handles decently, has awesome rear view and gets decent mileage despite its 3 speed trans and has so many engines to choose from, like the 3100-3400-3500-3900 V6. They are very easy to install and bolt directly to the transmission as well as many of the transmissions found on other GM cars, manual and auto. Manual conversions are easy.
For 250k miles it still looks pretty good. Sure many people would call that a beater, but you can't beat the financial freedom you get when you have an older car if you are lucky to find a reliable one. I've been done with car payments for a few years now, and don't worry too much if I need to put in $2-3k in repairs per year as that is a win compared to $6-9k year on payments. Not only that, when I have a brand new car I worry about where I park. So a beater can also give you emotional freedom. I remember back in my car payments days and I wouyld pull into a parking spot next to a beater and almost feel envy, LOL! Plus you've got an SI, those are NICE!!!
For many people, having high end cars is a hobby. Much more than just a means of getting from A to B. We want a certain level of engagement/driving dynamic that many older cars can't deliver. Buying a used car will almost always be a better financial decision though. An important distinction though, is that simply because something is not the smartest financial decision you could make does not mean it is a purchase that you would regret making, or that it is something that isn't in your budget. Not the smartest financial decision does not always equal not worth buying. In many cases, the thrill factor and engagement many cars these days offer is priceless. Nothing wrong with buying a cheap/older car though. Just depends on what you get enjoyment out of in life.
Seems like an ideal ride dude. I'm just in a weird spot where I wanted a Supra (can't afford that LOL, yet i'm $24K into my 88' and no engine mods and she needs paint!) and my daily is an 01' Celica GT-S. Paid $8K for each, and it's TOYOTA, they are just fine, but I'm not okay with that, I want them to be as good as possible or better via aftermarket. I'm in a stupid amount of money in these cars and neither would be as fast as yours, but I think at 117K and 145K miles, they will be around for most of my life. Most would not buy crazy niche cars like this, but I adore them everyday and it's been worth the struggle and cost. Having something dead reliable and unique is something to be proud of!
here in OZ I was always amazed how many people purchased new cars, to drive 2 miles to the rail station each weekday ,in order to catch their train to work. Roasting in the high UV Aussie sun until they fade. Back in the day when I had to commute to the city , I bought a 3K old used 4 cylinder to leave at the car park , while my V8 Clubsport waited for the weekends.
AZ? Yeah, so you're paying for the car to sit the majority of the time lol. Let alone dropping $3-5k as soon as it's driven off the lot... Not hating on anyone owning new, I was just never appealed by purchasing new... 4 banger ftw!
Same here 2007 si with 7 accidents and two times totaled but I love it still 8k rpm vtec kick in best Honda ever made
I have a 2010 Accord coupe, 4cyl 465,000kms. Black on black. Very minimal maintenance, and it still runs great.
Good stuff 🤛🏼
I recently bought a 2020 civic si. I love it more than anything.
Really want to drive a newer one
I’ve driven a 2008 Audi A5 for ten years. Not only does it run faultlessly, but it still looks classy. Great car.
Audi's are great looking cars for sure!
I have the 2010 Civic LX. 176,000 miles all put on by me. The best thing about keeping a reliable beater car forever is you understand the maintenance schedule and it is generally understood by all mechanics how to work on your car and relatively cheeper in costs to maintain as well as there is ease of finding parts.
Nice.. yes. You know what you did to it and when. Also what upcoming work or maintenance it will need.
Proud owner of my 2002 MK1 ford focus 1.6 liter petrol (UK version) and the engine is absolutely bombproof if you keep on top of the basic maintenance. Bought it in 2020 for £600. I've done around 40k miles since then and it's never let me down. Starts first time. Every time. Best part is the engine is made out of metal so will outlast many newer cars which contain low quality plastic components
I have a 2012 civic with 205k miles on it. I bought it at 100k, haven’t had to do anything but routine maintenance. Still runs like a dream. Best part is no payment. All my friends have trucks they pay $700+ a month for.
the main reason i love driving a beater is because i tend to have OCD with new and shiny things and i would probably obsess over it and be scared to let people in it, or let pets in, or even move stuff around with it. I would be scared to damage the interior.
with a beater car the interior is already damaged, so i stop caring, it saved me a lot of stress. i bought a reliable cheap car from 2006 a few weeks ago and i absolutely love it.
I have a 2009 Honda civic i use as my beater daily and you most definitely still see these cars on the road today. I also have a 2018 Toyota land cruiser and that is my weekend warrior and that is the car you don't see much of today
Exactly and seeing a car on the road that is "older" is always a good sign. Is that similar to a 4 runner ?
@ kinda but definitely beefier.
@@TheGerbsteve my apologies. I didn’t realize it was an si and yea your right you don’t really see them to much compared to the regular Honda civic that I have . I have a lxs sedan with 85k miles
My 2004 3.0 accord has 235,000 mile. Runs awesome and still gets 30 mpg.
I have an 05 corolla xrs 6 speed. I still use it. Work great and fun to drive much like your si! Long live the high revving 4 bangers! 🤘🤘
Will always want to own a high revving 4 cylinder. Easy to maintain and a blast to drive !
I'm in the UK and own a 2004 Civic Type R with a K20 I love the thrill of VTEC, it does cost a bit in maintenance but a lot less than financing a car and insurance is half the price of a newer cars. I love that they are getting rarer on the roads I don't like to be in a car where everyone around me is driving the same car. I think the main thing I like about it is because it costs so little to begin with when someone bumps into it or scratches it I wont have sleepless nights about it compared to if the car cost me £30,000 for example.
Still pounding the pavement in the 04 Camry v6 XLE proudly. I have another car but that car is for me to enjoy and clear my head. I actually like pulling up and having the cheapest car I get a Lil kick out of it
Camry are such bullet proof cars as well! Glad you're rocking a yota, Love my rav4 as well
@TheGerbsteve yea it's not going anywhere any time soon either.
The nice thing is we as consumers have the privilege to choose. Buy a new car or a used one. Some people love to buy new cars because they love to show what they have, but are owned by the bank. They are okay with debt and paying interest to the bank. That's fine because cars go down in value as soon as you take it off the lot. I'm fine having a paid off car 2007 Lexus (with cash) and not giving any money away to the banks.
Yup love my beater car acura Rsx cheap and easy on gas, for fun time weekends I drive either my 370z or my MK5
You're a very smart young man to drive an older, affordable car. It's very good to eliminate car payments and depreciation on a new car and use the savings to invest as you say. I agree it's fun to dive into a repair and accomplish it and have your car running like new. Kind regards and all the best!
Thank you kind sir! I have been educating myself a TON lately on investing and making my money work harder for me. I think it is important that everyone figures that out. When I have enough money coming from my dividends, I may spoil myself with buying a new car. Yes, especially if you have a passion while doing it. Thanks for the positive feeback, thanks for stopping in
My best friend has an '11 Si sedan he bought new. Tires, brakes, spark plugs at 200k. That's it!
It has well over 200,000 now and he has driven it hard its entire life, basically every single day.
Absolutely awesome cars. I'd like to have an Si coupe at some point.
Love hearing the positive things about the 8th gens! You should definitely add one to your collection
Used all day bro, either low/ no payments and fun to drive cant beat it 🤘🏾
Perfectly put
I always wanted that gen SI. One of my fav cars.
i actually attempted to purchase a 2009 black civic si coupe (new) back in 09, but the dealer was charging markup so i ended up with a 2009 scion tC 5spd (for ~19k) and i'm still driving it today. no car payment for the past 10+ years, lets me easily max 401k, roth ira, hsa, and build wealth. agree with everything you said! new vehicle prices are absurd today smh.
Tc’s are still nice, little cars. Sounds like you are ahead of the game! I’ve been working on my Roth, brokerage, crypto, and HYS myself .. let’s build wealth and then pay for something we really want in cash 💵 😎
I drive 99 honda crv. JDM engine couple of years ago. Running like a champ.
@@David-be1ox that’s all that matters 💪🏼… having a good running car takes off a lot of worry.
Respect man, I literally drive an 07 8th gen. Black fg2 si as well haha.
Clearcoat failure sucks but I figure eventually I’ll sand it and paint myself but it also has my si underestimated by look lol
I totally agree with this strategy. I’m guilty of buying cars from dealers but I would always get a car at 15k or less to keep my payments under 300. Now days I’m buying older cars and paying cash.
Cash is king 🤛🏼
Bought my Si new in 2008 ,I still love driving mine as well .Still 100% stock .My paint work is crappy but all else is perfect .
Sold my "sports" car a couple of months ago for a gas saver... loved my old car because of the look but hated the cost of maintenance. The "new" car really changed my perspective on owning a car. At the end of the day all cars do the same thing, take you from point A to point B. One thing I wish I could go back and do is tell my younger self "buy the gas saver".
I bought my 2011 Toyota Prius new. It has 167k miles, has been paid off for ten years, and will go another 150k miles, easy! THE BEST car I’ve ever owned. Love it!
I always wanted a Prius for the hybrid features and 50mpg!
I bought a black 2012 S.I. coupe that reminds me of yours, just next generation.. that had about 136k mi. on it at the time. Now it has 211k mi., most reliable car I've ever owned. It was the replacement for my '91 CRX that got t-boned by a drunk. I've been tempted to upgrade my lifestyle but it's good to be reminded of how agonizing a car payment can be.
Nice! 9th gens are nice, love the interior. Just keep up on the little things and it will keep running strong. The k series is one of the most simple, over engineered, reliable engine that honda produced imo. Sorry to hear about the crx. People can never have nice things...
Sweet ride. I've still got my 2002 142K Dodge Stratus that I'm riding till she don't wanna ride no more. I hope I can take it to 200K! Saved so much money over the years just keeping the beater. I am remote WFH so I only use it for small trips anyways, (maybe put 3-5K miles on a year) expect to hopefully keep her many more years. I have had to do some maintenance replacement parts but it's still much better than spending thousands on another car. Car still works great.
I do the same, daily drive a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT. No car payments, I know the 6g72 engine like the back of my hand, I can literally do any mechanical work required for it. Love the car, love seeing people drive old cars. If only I could get my wife on board (she drives a 2022).
Old car gang represent 💪🏼… get her on board 😎
