World class sound at an affordable price!!! That's what it's all about. Great job!!! At a recent audition, I heard one of best sounding systems that I've ever heard in over 25 years in Hi End Audio. The system consisted of a pair of Magnepan .7 speaker, a Rel T7X sub and a NAD M33 integrated amp. The sound that this system produced in that showroom at the audition was nothing short of "Intoxicating." With Maggies and the right auxiliary equipment, you don't have to spend a million dollars in order to get million dollar sound. That's what makes Magnepan so unbelievably special. I ordered the Magnepan .7 speakers and a pair of the Rel T7X subs. I'll be powering the Maggie .7 speakers with a magnificent Hegel H390 integrated amp.
Hey, Ken, I also have the Maggie's. 7's speakers I did the Magna Risers stands and Stereo11 fuse and jumper upgrade Your Hegle H390 is a good match! As you know, Maggie's love watts/current I drive mine with an old school Class D Spectron musical MK lll amp & ARC LS15 tube pre amp 500watts@8ohm 650@4ohms and 1,200 watts@1ohm and 65 amps for 500 milliseconds
I auditioned the LRS+ with Hegel H360 in store as many YT reviewers were suggesting the Hegel combo. I was disappointed , it was dark and weak for me. To get a full volume of encapsulating sound the highs just hurt my ears. I was nearly put off the Magnepans altogether. So then I tried the audio shops suggestion; the Musical Fidelity M5si and it worked so much better. So that's what I bought. Sounds even better at my home with my room treatments.
Schitt and Magnapans are a great paring! Would love to hear it again with a Vidar 2 and MP-200 and upgraded phonostage. This is pretty great! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Sir. I ordered the LRS+ back in November (6 month wait) and was being told by friends they sound thin and I wouldn't like them. Your video has changed my mind. Can't wait to get them.
I have a LRS+ and Musical Fidelity M5si (270W@4Ω). I auditioned the LRS+ and Hegel 360 (following much YT advice) in store and was so disappointed (dark, weak sound) so went with the suggested MF. I feel the LRS+ has great clarity, not thinness. I did add the resistor to attenuate (this worked better than EQ adjustment) the high frequencies which were too bright for me. I initially compared it to my older B&W speakers with a treble rich piece of music and was surprised to note; not a big improvement. So I tried a mid- bass piece for comparison and this is where the LRS shone. It has clarity over the whole range and left the B&Ws sounding muddy in their supposedly strong area. The LRS+ are not a forgiving speaker. They require high current amps and will reproduce faithfully what you feed them; shit in, shit out. You may find a big difference between recordings. Newer or remastered recordings do well. I'm now spoilt by these speakers and just can't stand a bad recording, knowing the excellence you get from their rendition of a good recording. I find they also suit smaller ensembles too. You get a good feeling for instrument placement. The vocalist and certain instruments located in exact locations before you, between the speaker positions. You may need a subwoofer and some music that requires excessive bass won't do well, deep house etc. I've added room treatments and want to do all I can to get the most from these speakers. They have me excited, I love them.
This is a very good sound demo. You have done a very nice job with this system. Those who say you should have spent more on your speakers than the LRS with the cost of the rest of your gear have not heard the LRS. I have pair and love them. I put a single Rythmik F12SE sub with them and put it to the left of the left LRS speaker. I followed the Rythmik set up instructions at the beginning and have not changed it since as the blending seems ideal. The Rythmik disappears and the bass sounds like it is manifesting as a center image between the LRS.
LRS is a great speaker, just Pair it with an amp with plenty of current capability and a good damping factor.. These speakers are really a bargain, but don't make the misjudgment that you can hook them up to a affordable amplifier..
I've tried to drive by Maggie LRS with a Vidar...didn't work satisfactorily. Schitt's customer service is wonderful, and they've been very helpful - but this combination didn't work for me. I bought an old Bryston 4B, and that does the trick.
I have a Rega Planar 2 and the Nagaoka MP-110 feeding a Sprout 100 to Elac D2.0 B6.2 s with a Infinity 12" sub. It sounds pretty good. Ordering a Mani in a few days, and Plan on Getting a Freya + and later Upgrading to a Stellar S300 and Martin Logan EM ESLs. so this was very close to what I am eventually aiming for.
@@siodaze9567 Alot of people say these speakers arent good for rock but I'm looking for something that can play a little of everything and I would love to try out some maggie's because I hear the soundstage is amazing. What's your opinion do they sound good with rock or even rap maybe with a sub?
@@kyrobbins8696 sound stage is very incredible. It’s like they are playing in front of you. I do add a sub for rock or indie music. Have a ELAC S10 powered sub connected.
@@siodaze9567 Thanks for the video. I just ordered the LRS’s yesterday. If you don’t mind, could answer a few questions on your setup? If not, I understand. Are you using one or two subwoofers? Are you only using one Schitt Aegir (40 watts into 4ohms)? I know the damping factor is >100 into 8ohms, so into 4ohms it has to be Less. Sounds Like your getting good volume. What stage are you using the Freya+ in (passive, differential buffer or tube)? Anyway great video and with your choice of Dire Straits you could not go wrong. I’m looking for a tube preamp and the combination Aegir, Freya+ and LRS are impressive. Finally, are you using a separate crossover, the crossover in the subwoofer or none?

I have 3 pairs on order. 4 month waiting list currently. Will try mounting them as atmos speakers. If not satisfied, will use them as surround backs, if not satisfied will use them for my bedroom set up, if not satisfied......well you get the idea.
You need to keep them out in the room for the best sound..If you put them next to a wall or a corner,You aren't going to get the sound quality that they are capable of....
The Schitt amp does sound clear and smooth. And the price is so very reasonable. You could spend $3000 for an amp that would not sound nearly as good. I have never been a fan of these speakers though.
the result is just magnificent 😮 sincere congrats and I am quite envious i have a weird question i wonder what frequency have those powerful drum kicks if anyone knows have you tried the speakers with pipe organ music like Bach toccata e fuga maybe? can they go load without distortion or a sub is advisable? thank you so much kind regards Gino 😊

It might "power" them but it is not a good fit. icepower amps don't really get maggies to their full potential. Even the XTZ EdgeA2-300 (a other icepower amp) at 300W per channel doesn't get the LRS to sing.
@@JC-lk3oy Thanks! I think I’ll get the Sprout, pair it with Elac bookshelf speakers for now, and then buy separate mono blocks and the LRS’s in the future. The Sprout can be used as a pre-amp then. It’s gonna be fun!
That’s the problem with these guys, other than required gobs of power, they only sound really good on great recordings. Feed them less than stellar, ie Crap, and the sound is unlistenable. Bottom line is, great sounding inexpensive speaker but needs the best equipment and the best recording quality to be its best!
Used a McIntosh MC312 to power my LRS, very disappointing, they sounded like crap! Used the Emotiva Gen 3 XPA 2, unbelievably great sound. Also, the Emotiva cost was 1/7th the cost of the MC!
A bad recording sounds like crap on anything. And if you have a system that makes crap sound good or enjoyable. Then great recordings are going to sound horrible....you are only going to get out of a system the quality of signal that you put into it....
