When I was growing up in San Diego in the 70's, we'd visit my grandmother in PB. She'd send us down to the bay to catch halibut. Great to see them trying to restore the population.
I think a one month a year 3-fish daily keep regulation (no size restriction) would help recreational angling/tourism a great deal. Imagine catch & release angling ten to twenty 19-24" halibut in accessible shallow waters for the public to enjoy 11 months a year.
If the spawning habitat or nursery ground for the halibut is desiccated why don’t they push more for habitat rehabilitation measures. Sure fish will go in, but will they contribute to the spawning biomass or just die? They lived in a controlled environment their whole life and now your dumping them all at once and expect them to survive.
@@chrischapoteau3263 fuck you hell ya it does... A 22" hali is super fuckin small i even throw those back... i think something over 25 is worth keeping... throw the keepers(22") back let them get bigger and badder bet your fishing lvl is 23 fuckin nooob/poacher
@@MNthrT i bet I do I love on the east coast where they actually get big unlike here in silly ass San diego. And I still don't care wyd cal game warden on me 🤣😂😂 I got tickets with them from yrs ago Idc . Lol this will make your stupid ass happy though. I don't keep what I catch anymore no way bc im to lazy to deal with the process unless its gut hooked then its bait 😂
All them people that came over boat and had their children here that are fucking everything up. Damn colonizers their like an invasive species that doesn't want to admit it😆
Exactly. The also need to learn to release the ones 30 inches and over and let them breed. When I keep a Halibut from the surf it’s usually between 24 and 28 inches. Best eating size in my opinion.
Wish there was undercover game warden in long beach ca we give lot of trash others without fishing licenses keeping dollar bill size halibut some bullshit 🤬💩
Seaworld: We’re releasing halibut in Mission Ba-
Local Anglers: Say no more
I went fishing there and i caught two in 45 minutes, obviously they were undersize so i let them go, but it was sooo cool.
You didn't see me in the back scooping them out as soon as they put them in? Lol
I WILL DEVOUR
It’s projects like THIS that I don’t mind paying for my annual fishing licenses. Great job everyone!

Thanks to dishonest fishermen that keep undersized
This should be a multi billion dollar Federally funded program. Highest priority
Looks like a couple years down the road there will be some dinners coming out of Mission Bay. Good to know.
Good, the local fishery has been taking a pounding this year. Everyone always wants to know where to catch a halibut or how to.
Or a lot of under sized 🤣
Lol ik I'm taking notes
You Monster, is that what you took away from this rescue video!?!? *hides garlic butter and bib*
@@otroflores91 best place for the biggins, toxic san diego bay and the beaches!
We need more of this throughout the state. Let's go for 5,000 a year.
Wow! Even the native halibut moved out of California.
Why is there no nursery habitat now?

If the breeding nursery is diminished ! No amount of realease will bring wild numbers up
and it taints the gene pool
Looks like I’m having Halibut tonight
My exact thought lol
The small ones they just released?
@@chrismartinez5163 perfect pan sized fish
Where they are releasing them, is the same spot they found a human skull last week lol
I guess someone objected to the release?
Stocked halibut now huh. Lol.

Last year they released 2300 halibut into the bay, why the huge downturn in numbers??????

who ever eats stuff from mission bay is safer eating in TJ.
When everyone in San Diego is getting skunked so they need help to catch fish lmfao!!!!!
Now, how about some clams for Pismo.
All that raw sewage effluent from Mexico is killing San Diego's ocean ecosystem.
Do you have any idea the amount of pollution we are doing to our own waters? It’s not just Mexico, that’s ridiculous.

there's a human skull in there right? omg for sure these halibuts will have thick meat. hehe.

I catch and release 100%🙂
😍
No Beth, they didn't do that so you can eat it🙄
@@centeguahan3760 huh?
lol now they're stocking halibut........oh god. poaching is a problem no doubt but the seal populations don't help the cause much.
I feel like seals are killing way more fish than we know. Especially in harbors
mother nature doesn't need help. Mother nature needs us to get out of the way.
So then move out the way
Yeah cause global warming! Lol Mother Nature will end it all when she’s had enough and nothing will change that
Need to put the halibut on lockdown so they don’t get the China virus they are Californians halibut after all.
We need u to shut up
