  • “Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning.” Devoured by his curiosity, Christopher C. Doyle, in his talk, constantly questioned the stated facts of history and literature. He tried to answer the unanswered questions regarding the Mahabharata and other histories of the world through scientific explanations and reasoning. Christopher C. Doyle is an author who transports the reader into a fascinating world where ancient secrets buried in legends blend with science and history to create a gripping story. His first bestseller ‘The Mahabharata Secret’ was a great success and now has a trilogy under its label. Mr. Doyle is one of the first Indian writers to upload an online novella for his readers. Before he embarked on this literary adventure he pursued a career in the corporate world and is a graduate from St Stephens College and IIM Calcutta. Christopher C. Doyle’s books are a beautiful mosaic of science, history and mythology with a dash of Dan Brown which makes him the most adored fantasy writer in India.

I would like to include my point of view in different way. May be you won't like. I always feel - mahabharat is story of earth with its birth, different stages and last hybernation period. Different characters and mentioned kingdoms are matching with existing different locations. All incidents are matching. Only need to think and imagine. Someone had wrote mahabharat to alarm next human kind so that same situation will not happen again. But we are still trying to find proofs. Need to read, visualize, imagine and compare with existing situation....

It might not be necessary that all those knowledge would be useful. We might get something but the notion that previous era was very bright than today is not correct. Just like the highways built in 1950s were magnificent at that time won't stand with highways of 2022. Just like the Padmini was considered as symbol of status, it isn't today.
I am all in for the researches in past, but it is more important to invest heavily in the future. Although in the past India was all glory and advanced among other countries, such India wouldn't stand against a third world country of today.
I still hope such researches take place and we get something useful.

My dear Christopher C. Doyle, it was an interesting talk, as can be expected from a good fantasy writer like you. Before you could attempt to take the name of Mahabharat, with also your doubts on it's reality, you ought to know about the time scales that are attached to these Scriptures. Being an Indian you would have attended many Hindu Poojas & Rituals. If not please do. At the very start of the sankalpa, the Pandit recites -
"Vyvasa manvantare, kaliyuge, pradhama pade, Jumbu dweepe, Meru dakshina dikhbaage, etc". In simple words, this is nothing but giving co-ordinates in time as well as the physical co-ordinates of the place of performing pooja, with respect to Meru near Manas Sarovar. You must examine the time co-ordinates 1st - It says in Vyvasa manvantar, pradhama pade of Kaliyug, means 1st quarter of Kaliyug which is 416,000 years long in time period. 1st quarter means 104,000 years. As per your science
it's put conveniently without evidence that this Kaliyug is only 5000 years old. Which means before that was Dwapar yug, which spans over 832,000 years. And Mahabharat belongs to Dwapar yug. Before that was Treta yug which spans 1248,000 years, and Ramayan belongs to that age. Prior to that we have Kruta yug spanning 1664,000 years, when King Satya Harishchandra lived. Size of humans- during Treta yug, Roma's time, average height 24 arm lengths and lifespan of around 2500- 3000 years. Dwapar yug, humans were 14 arm lengths and life span of 1500 - 2000 years.
Kruta yug + Treta + Dwapar +kaliyug = Maha yug.
    72 Maha yug = 1 Manvantar.
Today we're in the 8th Manvantar called Vyvasa manvantar, 28th Maha yug. Aren't these mind boggling figures. Every yuga the Human Race starts a fresh and reaches a peak spiritually and technologically also. A time will come when the earth is wiped out of the entire civilization and restarted, wherein the Lord uses selected living creatures, plants etc and brings them to the new start. The carrier of one of such transitions was what you call as Noah's Ark.
These are all well documented in what you call Hindu Scriptures. Vedas were from the start of human race, in the 1st manvantar. Very surprisingly they weren't written by any human being, they were given to the Sages and Rishis by word of mouth called Sruti, by God. So it's impossible for one to get the handwritten evidence of them.
There's a lot for you to know my
dear, for your fantasy you should have chosen some fairytales and not Mahabharat, as Hindu's, rather, I must say, Human Beings most sacred text Bhagawat Gita is connected to it.

We cannot say the events of Mahabharata never really happened but the way it has been described in the epic Mahabharata makes us believe it never happened but the thing is we need not think it really happened or not instead we should learn and apply the teachings of Mahabharata in our life.

But in our schools we are mainly concerned with the political history and therefore, for a layman history is static, boring and factual. In the Skanda Purana is Sri Guru Gita, 182 slokas. It is the secret chant of the mystery and importance of the Guru in one's life. "The Guru is not the vyakti; the Guru is the Shakti".
So said Swami Paramahansa Muktanada, Ganeshpuri, India. Shishya and successor of Sri Bhagavan Nityananda.
In itself it is a lifelong study. Every day it reveals more levels of understanding while burning karma.
Of course, it is recommended that one have initiation by a Siddha guru, who awakens the disciple's Kundalini energy by a process known as Shaktipat (descent of the Shakti).
Sri Swami Chidvilasanada (Gurumayi) is the current head of the Siddha Yoga lineage, Saraswati order of monks.
It is a path of tapasya intermingled with great bliss!

Curiosity is important. More important is the scientific methodology and approach to answer them.
Good presentation, which mixed well researched facts with speculations.
    Here are some counter questions:
    1) Who said that the events described in Mahabharata took place 5000 years ago?
Taking a cue from Balarama, he had the iron plough. Iron age in India started about 1600 BCE. That makes Balarama breaking the hard soil of mountainous regions with the iron plough about 3500 years ago. Prior to the invention of iron making, all civilizations were based on the flood plains of rivers which had soft soil and did not require iron ploughs. Iron becomes important when humans move to higher grounds, into moutains and forests. Iron enables humans to cut down trees and dig up the harder mountainous soil. Even with bronze (which followed the Copper age) this was not possible.
    2) Yes, Denisovans have been recent discoveries. However, a civilization that used high-speed drilling tools would have equally sophisticated technologies for food production, travel, civil construction, etc. It is highly unlikely that such a civilization would be using high-speed drills while living in caves and making a living through hunting and gathering, foraging for food in forests.
    3) How could a civilization that claimed to have weaponry that are seemingly similar to our modern day nuclear weapons, ploughed the land with bullocks and iron ploughs? And, also appeared to have had no technology that made living more technology-oriented? No microwave ovens or computers or fax machines at home and offices, but with an ICBM in the quiver, that too carried on a warrior's back?
    4) An army capable of shooting missiles, but chose to fight on horse and elephant backs? No mention of tanks and armored cars, bombers and fighter jets?
Either these were excellent products of human imagination - which is a strong possibility because we humans have the ability to imagine that which does not exist. OR, Eric von Daniken?

      Fantastic analysis. But imagine this:
We talk about the origins of Humans at 60,000 BCE and all the anthropological study is after that date.
Srimad Bhagvatam states that there existed 4 Yugas of life existence since the formation of Earth.
Earth is 4.5 BILLION YEARS old. Do you what was going on in the daily life of Earth in general, at maybe say, 800,000 million years ago? And that is exactly what Srimad Bhagvatam states, that there have been 3 entirely different human civilisations before us!
Maybe Mahabharata did not happen at 1600 BCE but in one of the previous human civilisations at 800,000 BCE?

Well Infact This is true , let me explain it by an example , Gomphothere 4 tusked animal extinct about 2millions years ago so it must be there before that say 12m explained by palaeontologist and This animal is mentioned in Shri Valmiki's Ramayan Sundar Kanda [4.27.12] which explains all these events are true but just to acknowledge whole world as Sanatan many historians talks about rise around 10k BC and Many Indian Left Minded/Western historians never goes in that area instead they coined term mythology to our Real History . They praise Islam built our Nation and Colonization due to British but in fact all were Santana untill Kaliyug 4th phase of cycle happened

@@nevermind7183 actually when lord hanuman entered the kingdom of Lanka, he found something very amazing. He saw some 4 tusked elephants guarding the doors of fort along with some giants. He was confused to see them as those were not found in india. Later, he kills them.
Now, hanuman is described as a monkey but the problem is that he knew all the vedas and vedangas. He knew politics and speaker like others.
The ramayan must have been happened when different races co existed. Hanuman and the vanaras must have been some ancient specie of the past.

"We don't know but we think", this quote is what every detail of every discovery throughout our human history has been based on. Notable is the fact of which within the global community of highly educated archeologists and experts. If evidence is not consequential, the preference to submit a thought or guess as evidence obtained is that of which forms our education in such subjects. If the truth was told (in which I would urge everyone to believe is an impossibility) the validation of human history against those of higher education would uncoil for millenia. TRUTH OR TRANCE

The drill hole in the bracelet bears a striking resemblence to the drill holes found throughout megalithic structures. Holes that show absolutely no indication of being done with sand and a bronze tube, but rather a spiral or toolmarks implying a high speed bit was used. The Denisovans, by all indications, were massive people. Megalithic structures worldwide show a similarity in both building technique and in architecture, and on a massive scale. Most of those very same megalithic ruins have been re-built and re-purposed countless times over the aeons, and they show this clearly. Every culture and society has mythology that includes giants. We would certainly have considered a race seven or eight feet tall on average 'giant'. Given the interior of every continent was filled with a myriad of megafauna predators {lions, sabre toothed cats, cheetahs, bears, and all in giant size} Sapiens wouldn't have lasted a minute in any settlement that wasn't well fortified or underground. We would have lived along the coasts at river mouths or on islands, because we've always used boats. Those settlements are now 420' down, under the sea. Recent DNA studies imply Denisovans interbred with Sapiens as recently as 15,000-30,000 years BP. Just before the ice sheets melted.
