FINALLY back with another video! In this video, I walk you through the process of how I made the squat rack since I already made it months ago! Follow me on IG: nelson_ftw
Hey guys! Let me know what you like or DON’T like about this video! I’m still trying to figure out the best format, so don’t hold back. I wanna get betterrrr~
Thanks nice vid mate im gna try build this also. How much did it cost all up? i mightve missed it if you mentioned it. And did you use a vice to bend the brackets into shape or did you buy them like that?
Instead of wheels, think of this. Make leveling feet. Get a 2”x2” plates, threaded 1” long round insert and large diameter bolt that matches the threads of the insert and 2 nuts. Drill hole into plate and then weld threaded insert flush with plate. Weld plate to bottom of uprights. Next is making the foot plates. Weld a nut to the middle of the plate and screw in the large diameter bolt and weld bolt in place. Now you can screw that foot plate into the threaded insert. Unfold the rack and unscrew the foot plate by hand or use a wrench on the nut til it makes solid contact with the ground.
Thanks for adding the quick information early on! That’s what I was looking for initially but I ended up watching the whole video. Looks like a great setup!
Hey man I like what you did, nice project!! For wheels I would use locking caster wheels, you know the ones you can lock with your foot, that would give you more security. For holes I recommend use a "step drill bit" instead a "saw drill bit" it's easier. Thanks for the video!
You should upload more of your projects. It's cool that you made a folding squat rack. I would like to build one but i got to figure out where i should put it lol. Since i live at home and my parent's garage is horded with stuff.
Maybe a way to help keep your pull up bar a small bit higher, notch out the top of the vertical bars where you got pretty existing holes into a "U" style cut so your bar can slide down into place VS. sliding through holes.
Thanks for the posting this video. I thought is was well done, and interesting to watch. I'm looking at possibly doing something similar for my garage. Just had a quick couple of questions: How much is that budget mag drill, and what is the make and model?
Just found your page..... If you weld a long bolt to the bottom near the wheels you could use it as a drop down foot, this way you can keep the wheels.
If you don’t want to spend money for magnetic drill then small, bench top drill press will work if you put it on the floor. Nice rack by the way. Keep training, keep welding, keep making UA-cam videos.
I have a practical question because i want to build this rack. You talk about making it 4 feet deep, that means the width has to be 8 feet or am i wrong? Otherwise the rack cant fold next to each other. But that is too wide for any barbell, how do you fix this problem ?
This is awesome! I did something similar out of wood but I gotta admit this is a better long-term option. (I made a video on it, check it out if you'd like)

How much did it run you?
Around how much money you would say you spend on this rack?
You are the kind of guy that everyone wants as friend
Your DIY rack is the best I've seen yet. Thank you.

My other friend is having the same problem. We're thinking about building the kind that's in 2 pieces. You just have to be careful with reracking lol.
Good job great for ideas

Sick rack man hope youre still shattering those anonymous prs lol
Great video and beauty bike
Thanks for the posting this video. I thought is was well done, and interesting to watch. I'm looking at possibly doing something similar for my garage. Just had a quick couple of questions: How much is that budget mag drill, and what is the make and model?
It's the Evolution mag drill. It's expensive.... but works like a charm. lol
Just found your page..... If you weld a long bolt to the bottom near the wheels you could use it as a drop down foot, this way you can keep the wheels.
I think you made the right choice using wheels, how else would you do it?
i needed this before i bought one kettlebell for $250
Where did you buy the material from? Like the rack itself. What size is it? And the mechanism that swivels to the cross beams, where did you get them?
How did you make the joints or where did you buy these?
Nice 👍 😍
💯✨
Do you have any Drawings or messurements how to build this??:) its rly rly Nice would love one in my garage.
I can't believe 4 months have passed since the last one
I KNOWWW, I'M TERRIBLEEEEEEEE
Second dreamiest eyes in the JK fam.
(Kyle still numba one).
That handsome bastard Kyle is so god damn beautiful tbh.
Number one Issa 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡Gina Darling🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 of course!!!! Great video Mr. Nelson
What did you use to bend the metal for the L brackets and J hooks? Where did you source your raw materials? What was the total cost?
To bend the metal, i put it in a vice and smacked it with a hammer lol. Then I welded on the L shape bend.
Do you have a link or know where you got those end brackets to mount it to the wall?
I made them! Just welded a couple rectangles together and drilled a hole lol
How much weight do those wheels take?
Where did you get the Hinges from and pieces that hold the bar up?
Made them! Just looked at a bunch of pictures of retail ones and tried to copy, lol.
If you don’t want to spend money for magnetic drill then small, bench top drill press will work if you put it on the floor. Nice rack by the way. Keep training, keep welding, keep making UA-cam videos.
So no wheels?
I have a practical question because i want to build this rack. You talk about making it 4 feet deep, that means the width has to be 8 feet or am i wrong? Otherwise the rack cant fold next to each other. But that is too wide for any barbell, how do you fix this problem ?
I figured, the pivot point would be offset from each other by a couple inches. That way, they can fold on top of each other.
Can you add the link to everything please????
Do you have a purchase list for this build?
I don't. Unfortunately. It was kind of a spur of the moment build.
You can make a very simple jhook with a bolt
I thought about this! I wanna try sometime and then make a video maybe lol
@@nelsonnguyen4811 are pretty easy and effective
🖤💪🏽✅👌
What would you say the cost was to make this?
Couple hundred maybe.
How come you don’t like the wheels?
It doesn't feel as solid when you want to shake it around, lol. I don't hate it, it's definitely nice to roll out every morning.
Take my money
Which exercise is king of all exercise?
So how much did this build cost in total?
Maybe.... $200 with the bench?
GREAT VIDEO!! seems cost of 2"x2"x6ft STEEL are $45 ea,,,is to me better pay $130 for one
