Oh, and to think he only wanted to use that voice for rapping when he was a teenager! Glad he went through his musical evolution and reinvented himself.

Stromae born in 1985, he lived with his dad until he moved back to his origin homeland Rwanda, where henwas later killed in the Rwanda genocide in 1994 when he was only 9 years old. Stromae later found out what happened to his father when he's 12yo as his family could not hide the fact of his father's death anymore.

He always writes about things that happen in real life that aren't rosy and wonderful. It's usually a story from a certain viewpoint (or multiple viewpoints). One of his big inspirations is Jacques Brel who also sang these kind of emotional songs, but without the beats and the synthesizer. Raw stories of pain and life. My dad loves Jacques Brel. I love Stromae. :)

The language Stromae uses in his songs is poetic and fairly high level, it is not the French you use when doing your groceries. I am a native Dutch speaker living in Brussels who uses French in everyday life. I admit I have to read the lyrics in order to fully understand them. Conclusion: do not worry too much about your French.

His trademark is upbeat beats with tough subjects.

He grew up with his mother in Belgium because his father died in the Rwandan genocide in 1994 when he was only 9 years old. The title "Papaoutai" stands for "Papa où t'es ?" which means "Dad where are you ?" in French.

The message of the song is how to grow up without a dad … the boy in the vid fantasizes a father. It appears for him that it should be normal to have a dad… so he made his own.
Stromae is a writer singer producer musician complete artist. He is his own genre 😅 Joyful music for deep and dark message… Here in Europe he’s a pure genius ! The lyrics are just outstanding

Watch and react to Stromae's concert Racine carrée in Montréal. On parle francais à Québec, n'est-ce pas?

    Hey Kev!
Thanks for the try. For the next time just remember that in French the s after a consonant like for the double s «ss» is pronounced as a c (chanson)
Really like you channel so today let’s register
