I’ve been watching all the Actor round tables and such, and Adam Sandler has been to every single one of them. They’re campaigning him. I think he’s gonna get the nomination, because Cruise doesn’t seem like it’s happening.

I loved Maverick very much, I saw it twice last year, one of the best movies of 2022 and Tom was great, as usual!
But definitely not Oscar worthy, he really does not need that anyways he is already a name in the industry like his name itself is a film production already :D
Adam Sandler just pulling Ben Affleck's Tender Bar in my opinion. 5th spot on Oscar will be wide open, I think Paul Mescal's Aftersun is still a possibility

I’m so glad babylon got in, there were so many amazing supporting performances in addition to the main three (jean smart, jovan adepo, pj byrne, tobey, li jun li, samara weaving are all scene stealers)

Overall I think SAG did a great job! There are a few I would change based on personal preference, but all the noms make sense. I understand Babylon Ensemble - they liked all the performances and thought they worked well together, but when it came to individuals for best actress/actor there were 5 individual performances they liked more. Same with Women Talking.
IMO:
The reason for the Babylon ensemble nomination: probably recognition that a) with the crowded fields in this year's acting categories, and b) even though some people were not a fan of the movie itself, voters felt that the acting in it still deserved recognition.
The reason for the Women Talking nomination: recognition for the acting when the ensemble cast probably cannibalized each other in terms of getting individual Supporting Actress nominations, especially when the passion for the film isn't as strong as EEAAO and Banshees to garner multiple noms in a category.
This is an exciting year. It's nice to have each show doing something a little different. What this does is makes the BAFTAs that much more interesting. The BAFTAs are out before the SAG Awards???? Because I don't see (BAFTA) them going along with half the supporting actress nominees.
I think Ana de Armas will get in at BAFTA but Michelle is getting in that Oscar race. The older crowd is going to go for Fabelmans as much as they can.
But I wouldn't mind if she didn't
It's exciting that Paul Mescal could get in. There is space for that. So that's super cool.
As long as Jamie Lee Curtis gets in at the Oscars I am happy. If Angela can hold on.. I'm even happier. But Jamie hasn't been nominated ever and she had a great year. Halloween Ends was the movie I needed to see this year and I loved the ending.. didn't love the beginning.. but it was the only movie I was looking forward to. So.. I saw EEAAO after all that jazz and I love it as much. I hope she's in. It's a true supporting role and it's so well done. C'mon Jamie!!!
Rooting for Jamie to get that nomination too but Halloween Ends was terrific! Beginning and ending.
Hong Chau nominatio helps Brendan Fraser a lot.
I now feel confident enough to put Ana de Armas in my predictions. Hollywood seems to really like that movie. Colin Farrell spent like 30 seconds of his GG acceptance speech just raving about Ana de Armas
To be honest, I HATED the movie, Ana de Armas deserves it. She gave a transformative performance and all of the faults of the movie had to do with the filmmaking and writing, not her acting. I’d be happy if she got nominated.
In a weird way I feel like she's this year's Kristen Stewart. I think she definitely has a stronger chance at Best Actress over some of the other candidates.

I think their just looking at the performance in isolation from the movie, Ana getting in just means they like her we don’t know how they feel about the film itself.

Women Talking is getting lost in the shuffle. I think it might’ve had a better chance if it was held off and campaigned in 2023. If they would’ve campaigned Michelle Williams in supporting like they, she would’ve swept. Best actress is too stacked for her to compete in.
Hong Chau’s nom is so incredibly deserved!! Hoping that she makes the Oscar’s lineup. Also think that her nom could bode well for Fraser here as it could be indicative of actors’ support of The Whale.
Guys you need to get better or else you'll all be coughing till Oscar night.
That said, love Stephanie Hsu and Hong Chau making it. Would have preferred Dolly De Leon also getting in but I'm happy. Also Danielle Deadwyler still alive, awesome. Adam Sandler, wow.

it gets brushed off simply because its a sports movie sadly, i prefer his performance in hustle than uncut gems even though its less of a change in his acting style

All the bread crumbs were there for Ana DeArmas getting the SAG nomiation. GG nom, Bafta longlist, netlfix outreach, SAG screenings praising DeArmas. I thought it woulda been at the expense of Deadwyler but im sad WIlliams missed. Also Cruise is still not out of this race. He'll get the OScar nom, but i was hoping he could do an upset win at SAG. Ana de Armas deserves to be among the nominees. Can't wait to see her among the Oscar nominees as well. It's so so so deserved. One of the best performances of the year. Kudos Ana!!!

SAG has a tendency to nominate non-favourites. So expect to see at least one nom in each category to get replaced at the Oscars.

Have you forgotten that House of Gucci did last year and still didn’t get an Oscar nom for best picture? Honestly I think Sandler getting in is good for Mescal. Cruise really needed this and if he couldn't get here, which is much more mainstream and blockbuster-friendly, hard to see him getting in the Oscar. Mescal is the only other one who will be in two televised awards.

Paul Mescal also has been getting all the critic award nominations for “Aftersun” and if he can get that BAFTA nom, I say he has the last spot.

There are a lot of nominations that I would love to see happen that aren’t happening in any bees award nominations reveal. It is cool to see Adam Sandler get the nomination for hustle. I hope he actually gets the Oscar nomination. But where is the love for devotion or the Northman or the menu?

@@user-oq1bk9px8k I disagree entirely I feel Margot and Danielle in particular were much more stronger and had more dynamic to their performances where all Ana did was cry a lot in the film especially being a hardcore Marilyn Monroe fan and knowing how much a dynamic/complex person Marilyn was. It’s not a 100% Ana fault it’s more Andrew Dominick fault for his portrayal of Marilyn but still overall based on performances vs performances Margot, Danielle and Michelle were stronger and more dynamic

Dolly DeLeon absolutely steals Triangle of Sadness and should be nominated. And if the Oscar’s ignore Stephanie Hsu, then the evaluation criteria is out of wack. I think there is a great chance she does make it.

Paul Mescal being the hot talk on the internet and just everywhere for the last month or so makes it much more likely for him to get that Oscar nomination. Everyone and their mothers are going to watch his play and then they invite him for dinner and stuff, like Angelina Jolie

I want Dolly De Leon, Stephanie Hsu, Hong Chau in the best supporting actress Oscar nominations to make it more diverse, I think the Oscar will remove any of these actress: Kerry Condon, Angela Bassett or Jamie Lee Curtis.
Honestly think in all the chaos of finding people to fill slots 4 and 5 in Supporting Actor that Eddie Redmayne can just sneak one of those slots. He's the 4th most prominent nominated actor in the major precursors. He's only missed CC and has a good shot at making the final BAFTA nominations. At that point, he'll have 3 out of 4. At worst, he'll have 2.5 out of 4. That seems like a good bet.

This year might have the record of most first time nominees at the Oscars, with everyone for supporting actor except Pitt, everyone for actor exept tom cruise, everyone for sup actress except bassett, and deadwyler, and yeoh
love top gun but i think overall acting wise cruise isn't strong at all compared to other nominees, he's great in the movie overall but performance wise i think sandler in hustle was even better. Cruise may not be able to snag a nomination for actor just for his dedication to the craft and the love for top gun, director may even be more likely than actor despite no nominations for kosinski

The newly expanded membership where practically the cleaner at the film studio now gets a vote means the whole thing is now just a popularity contest. Hence you get wins by the likes of Black Panther. It's half way to the People's Choice Awards.
