-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... - Фільми й анімація
I can't stress enough how popular this song was. We all had it. And after what, 40 years? I still knew every single word of that and sang right along. Fun times.
Great comment.
Same. I sang along with every word.
So did I sing along...lol...saw them in concert in 76/77(?) right after we bought the tuna piano album.
Indeed. Songs of my young adulthood.
Me too, with the sing-along.
Just one more example of when the BEST music in rock-'n'-roll was made!
And they put on an amazing concert too. Saw them three times in Philly.
The guitar work on REO's "Roll With The Changes" will blow your mind.
💯
Yes. That One/Two punch on the album with Roll With The Changes as it transitions into Time for Me To Fly is one of the best ever two songs in a row!!
Plus the piano and organ solo
Dare I say the entire song is S-tier?@@edwardbrewer2860
Guess you never heard of Gypsy Woman's Passion or Sophisticated Lady? Gary will blow your mind on these two songs...back when they were a rock band.
“Roll With The Changes” from the same album is also awesome
I'd rate Roll slightly higher than Time, but both are killer songs.
Yes please. By far the best REO album.
Yes,Yes, Yes!!! “Roll With The Changes” is a song A&A need to hit next from REO. Gary Richraths guitar work on that song is impeccable.
I grew up a block away from the bass player Bruce Hall in grade school. Got to hang with his little brother who I believe is still active in the Champaign-Urbana music scene.
Yes, a real Gary Richrath solo.
Great song and solo by Gary, who I think wrote the song. Might be wrong about that, but that should definitely be the next REO song they cover
One of the most underrated bands of the '70s and '80s. Try Roll With the Changes.
I'd say overrated.
Ok Fellas, ok....well settle this with pistols a 20 paces.
@@michaelgallagher3640 Just remember it's 20 paces, not 21...
Oh yeah! This is what they used to call a power ballad. And REO Speedwagon were masters of the genre. "Take It On The Run" is even better.
There is no point in doing well that which should not be done at all.
Yup!
@@jonsoule7421Lol - right...well all things being subjective I guess the fact that High Infidelity made them a household name everywhere kind of proves you wrong.
@@VicMikesvideodiary In no way does it prove me wrong. History is replete with vast swaths of ignorant people doing and/or believing ridiculous things. Also, "a household name everywhere" is a vast overstatement. More like "unfortunately aware of everywhere".
@@jonsoule7421Well I did say all things are subjective. Belief though has nothing to do with musical taste, and the fact that you are unwilling to admit your belief with this subject, that you hold it to be flawless and 100 percent true, only shows how narcissistic you really are. And narcissists should never be trusted. And if you are going to try to present yourself as intelligent at least learn proper grammar, this sentence makes no sense "More like "unfortunately aware of everywhere"."
"Roll With the Changes", "Don't Let Him Go", "Can't Fight This Feeling", "Take it on the Run", "Ridin' the Storm Out" (live version) and "157 Riverside Ave" are just a few of my favorites from them.
Love Riding the Storm Out, powerful, fast and energetic. 👍
Live version of “Riding the Storm Out” is a must. It’s easily 82% better than the album version. Pure S tier joy!
Can’t Fight this Feeling is super close to this one for me
@@tjtampa214 Must do the live version, though.
A great sleeper rocker is Don’t Let Him Go. Richrath rippin it.
You know what I like about you guys? I'm almost 60 and so many of the songs you review I remember from when I was in high school. I would never track them down on my own to listen to them, so I just come here and relive my past. Thanks!
I'm 63 and I love not only watching them react and talk about the songs i grew up with, but that they do not stop the music to talk...they listen to the whole thing first. Classy.
Get Pandora free where you can pick your own stations that play all of these oldies!
I'm 62 and it reminds me of when me and my friends would sit around and listen to whatever album somebody scrounged up the money to buy...hearing that shit for the first time...@@grumpy1616
haha me too!
Up next for REO - Roll With The Changes!!!
REO is a criminally underrated band. They have a ton of great songs
If this is an A+, Roll with the Changes is S every day of the week and twice on Sunday!
Gary Richrath was one of the most underrated rock guitarists. He was so good. I saw them live several times back in the 70s, and Gary was always the highlight for me.
When I was 16, I wanted to be Gary Richrath!!!😂❤️🤘🏻
Roll With the Changes is the tune you *need* to hit from this album. Great guitar, great keyboards, awesome lyrics, rockin' tune!
Gary richrath is underrated guitarist. R.I.P.
Agreed!!!
Time to do Golden Country, LIVE version!! Has one of the most EPIC guitar solos in rock history. And, meaningful lyrics.
The lyrics still ring true to this day!
Studio version much better than live.
You guys reacted to the studio version of Riding the Storm out, which pales in comparison tho the Live version from "Live: You Get What You Play For". Another one to hit would be "157 Riverside Ave"
Roll With The Changes is killer!
Roll With the Changes!
This song STARTS with energy level at 10, and just goes up from there!
Do Roll with the Changes next - you will love it!
"Roll with the changes" - top 10 rock song for me. Hit it!
You'll LOVE Roll With The Changes. Also, Ridin' The Storm Out, live.
Live: You Get What You Play For is one of the most underrated albums in the Rock and Roll Universe. Every song is a banger. Every. Single. One.
Amen
This is true.
157 Riverside Avenue ✊
You. Are. So. Dead. On. Brother.
Golden Country from that album… just wow
Roll With The Changes is a great REO song!
Golden Country. that needs to be next.
So much yes!!!!❤❤❤❤
That entire 1972 REO TWO album is fire. "Music Man", "Like You Do", along with "Golden Country", all from that album are still played by REO in their recent concert tours.
Picture it. 1979, an 18 year old Grumpypants and his friends driving around backroads in Dave's orange Camaro listening to REO on 8-track tape, while smoking things we shouldn't have oughta. Great times.
Craig Powerplay 8-track player?
Naw man, it was Jeff's white fastback Mustang, and I don't know how all those dents got in the road signs.
No it was Gary’s blue Camaro,RIP
I can see it. 80's kid right here. I was listening to all of this!
This was me, but it was Tom's shitty little VW bug and we were blasting Boston. And I was only 16.
"Roll With The Changes" and "Golden Country" are essential REO Speedwagon.
Ya gotta do "Roll with the changes". It's pure fire! 🔥
REO has a great history. That album is a classic. Try Roll with the Changes, Back on the Road Again, Tough Guys, Take it on the Run, Golden Country they are all good.
Roll With the Changes is an absolute banger. Check it Out.
agree!
seconding this. absolutely love that song. been learning the drums
Yes!!! Great song 😊
I wish they had hit that one first, but there's something to be said for not _starting_ with a band's biggest hit.
You can't beat the opening to Roll With the Changes.... That piano riff is killer!....
ROLL WITH THE CHANGES!!! 🎶
Roll with the changes is my favorite off of that album.
Roll With The Changes. Gotta do it.
Roll with the changes will blow your mind. All time classic. Two scorching guitar solos and an improbably astounding Organ solo
Some great REO songs: Roll With the Changes, Keep Pushin, Like You Do - all bangers! ✌
I never met Gary Richrath, but I played in a band with his son for about three years back in the late 2000's. He's one of the coolest cats, and I'll always cherish those days. It was rare that we covered any REO during that time, but we played Ridin' the Storm Out a couple times, and it was insane.
Roll with the changes excellent song from these guys ❤
Perfectly somber and empowering. The line, "But you still make me feel like a thief, You got me stealin' your love away, 'Cause you never give it," is a solid gold lyrical expression.
And the rest, "Peeling the years away and we can't relive it." So good, and so sad.
@@idalily3810 Yes. I don't think a band like REO Speedwagon receives enough credit for their poetry in lyrics.
Real artistry for sure. Don't hear a lot of that these days.
I have to second everyone saying "Roll With the Changes" it's one of the best! Then, "Don't Let Him Go," "Keep On Loving You," "Take It on the Run," and the live version of "Riding the Storm Out." All top stuff!
"Roll With The Changes" should absolutely be your next REO song.
This album was the start of their transition from straight up rock to top 40 rock/pop type music. Their lead guitarist Gary Richrath wrote or cowrote a lot of their big hits and always added some great guitar solos, but he was more into the rock side and left the band in 1989. You must hear “Golden Country” from their live album You Get What You Play For. Gary Richrath wrote and originally sang the song. His solos on this song are epic!
I wish I had another "thumbs up" to give you.
Terry Luttrell helped write Golden Country.....The lead singer when REO was still a rock band. I was listening to REO when they still had and edge. Before Crownerd turned them into a teeny bopper band
@@BlazinRiver1 yes. I think I first heard them with Kevin. I know I had their album with Terry also. Hearing “Riding the Storm Out” first by Kevin I think affected my reaction to Terry’s version.
@@BlazinRiver1 They would have never had a gold or platinum without kevin.
Kevin made them all rich. Thats why they begged him to come back after Littrel quit.
They already reacted to the live Golden Country version. Alex said it was "meh".
He knows he likes it, but his pride wouldn't let me be right when i guaranteed he'd love it. So he automatically hated on it.
Yet he pretends to like every wack song requested, to not lose any subscribers.
Now he's liking reo Speedwagon and wants to hear more. 😒 People need to believe me when i guarantee they'll like a song.
Now they should react to Golden Country on UA-cam. But do the studio version because Kevin sounds like a woman in the live version. What an embarrassment 🥺.
I hate the live version because Kevin's vocals suck in the live one. Plus the studio version is how its supposed to sound.
"You can tune a piano but you can't tune a fish" was almost certainly taken from George Clinton and Parliament's album Motor Booty Affair. Who knows if he was the first to make the joke, but REO definitely heard it there.
Before you guys ask what is next, "Roll With the Changes"...my favorite.
Awesome tune, still gives me goosebumps! This was our graduation theme song for class of 81.
Makes me wanna cry
And I do not even know you
I AM from the same era
So the sentiment from the memory you are sharing is so beautiful
✨🤗✨
LOL mine was Freebird. 1982.
Funny story, after this graduation, they made it mandatory the band play all graduation programs... good times
Class of 81 👍💕
Cool!
Graduated in 81 as well. Our theme song was not quite the chart topper (Kermit the Frog / Rainbow Connection) but who am I to throw shade at the Green Crooner?? 😅
Love REO SAW THEM 6 times in concert, this song was dedicated to my ex, the lyrics fit to my situation perfect. I said to him Time for me to Fly remember me when you listen to that song 😎 Gary R RIP was and still is music to my ears when I listen to songs he played. Another Album to listen too from them Is Nine Lives
You still gotta hit more from them from their live album "You Get What You Play For". REO's strongest point was being a hard rock 70s LIVE stadium band, with their classic line up. You're really not hearing what made them popular until you go there.
You could NOT have said it better. REAL old REO was ok, they were still trying to develop their style (and find the right singer.) In the 80s REO was ballads ballads ballads...meh. But in between, around You Get What You Play For, that was REO's sweet spot, when they rocked as hard as anyone on the planet. Damn I loved them back then...& the one album that was unbelievable before Kevin Cronin, w/ Antiestablishment Man, Gypsy Woman's Passion, Sophisticated Lady, Prison Women (none of which was EVER played on the radio, but all of which blew all their ballad-y stuff away...man, you know what you're talking about. I always wondered if REO's gradual descent into Ballad Hell contributed to Gary Richrath's gradual descent into his own kind of hell, & his eventual exit from the band. Oh well. It's all history now. Sorry for rambling on a bit, man...take care friend, Andy C
Yes!
Saw them in concert at Pine Knob Mich. 76/77,, and St the Sports Arena in Toledo..
Great Live Band and show.. excellent..
👏👂🍬
@@andychisarick6879 really old REO is Terry Luttrell..😏
Michael Murphy sang an album or two I believe...
@@andychisarick6879 Three albums…Kevin Cronin had laid some vocal tracks for the "Ridin' the Storm Out" LP before he got fired, but they re-recorded those with Mike, and "Lost in a Dream" and "This Time We Mean It" were all Murphy. Then the label was all "you have one record left on your deal, make the best of it" and insisted they bring back Cronin (on the theory that "T.W.O." was their best work, which I agree with, your preference for the debut aside) and despite Gary's abortive attempt to recruit Gregory X. Volz, the label got their man.
Kev does love his stage patter, though. I do think he's a big part of what makes the live album so great.
Gary Richrath is a criminally underrated guitarist.
Roll with the changes is great song from this album. Golden County is great song from them from 1972.
Don't Let Him Go, Keep on Living You and Take it on the Run. All great songs.
REO Sppedwagon was absolutely great. I rank them right there with Journey.
I am so glad ive been able to see them play this live 13 times! And im only 34.
Graduated from college in 1980, and my classmates and I were definitely into the chorus of this song. "Time for me to fly. It hurts to say goidbye...." 😢
REO Speedwagen excelled live. Check out their live album “You get what you play for.”
I love this song. My other favorite by REO Speedwagon is "Roll With The Changes".
My first concert was REO Speedwagon when they toured this album 'You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish' and I have not seen a band who out did them in all the concerts that followed. Kevin Cronin had the audience in his hand as he talked to us and told stories throughout the show. Just an amazing front man.
REO Speedwagon are an awesome group which are still going strong to this day. Their nusic will never die. They are a definite main stay in music my 24 year old listens to them and had the honor to see them in concert when they came close enough to our area.
“Roll With The Changes”, “Back On The Road Again”, and “Take It On The Run” would be my choices by them. All top notch bangers.
Dolly liked the song so much she covered it!
This is an S tier for me. Fits my life in the early 80s well.
In the day it seemed like REO had a new song at the top of the charts every day for 5 years. Great band.
Roll With the Changes should be on your list. That song is an instant mood boost!
Back on the road again is my favorite REO song! Actually it’s my favorite rock song period!
I will never meet you, but I pretend we are friends. You help me relive all of the nights I had friends over to listen to music in the way back.
Thank you for what you do.
I hope you enjoy yourselves as much as we do.
I gotta say this I miss Gary saw then last year Dave he a good player but Gary's smile when was laying it down just beaming. The jam on 157 Riverside Ave is priceless
One of my favorite songs for over 40 years. The only thing I ever criticized it for was not letting Gary have a bit more solo time with it.
Thanks for rocking it guys. I suggest coming around to Foreingers Debut album. Starrider is an epic song off that album, although there isn't a bad song on it.
The 70s and 80s produced some of the greatest rock-'n'-roll...ever!
REO is one of the many underrated bands from that era.
Their concerts were awesome!
Even being of 60 years old I singing along and i remembered every word.
Wanna hear them really rock?? Gotta hit GOLDEN COUNTRY.
This is a forever classic
REO was very popular and fire in the 70's, my favorite is "Ridin' The Storm Out" and "Golden Country." "Roll With The Changes" is also good.
This is *one* of REO's greatest songs. And it's my Favorite of theirs. More songs that I enjoy
Roll With The Changes
Don't Let Him Go
Take it on the Run
Tough Guys
Back on the Road Again
That Ain't Love
...And on their softer side
Keep On Loving You
I Can't Fight This Feeling
I Wish You Were There
One Lonely Night
Sorry for the long list, its just that REO is one of my favorite bands
I'm going through a marriage breakup right now. This is the song, oft repeated on classic rock radio, that finally made me pull the trigger.
ROll With the Changes and Say YOu Love Me or Say Goodnight from same Album. Back On the Road Again is a real BANGER!
In the 80s I tried to think I was "too cool" for REO Speedwagon. I was like "R.E.M., not REO" but the older I get the more I really really love REO Speedwagon and their songs. This one, Roll with the Changes, Take it on the Run... they're AMAZING songs. So glad I matured. :)
You guys have SO much REO Speedwagon to check out. I've listened through their entire discography numerous times and a few songs I highly recommend that the casual listeners likely won't know are "I Do' Wanna Know", "One Lonely Night", & "Back In My Heart Again". Highly recommend the music videos for the first two.
Excellent album.
Blazing Your Own Trail Again.
Take It On the Run.
Loved this song since I was a kid, but it hit a lot deeper after dealing with now ex-wife’s borderline personality. 🙂
I feel you bro. That’s the worst
REO is definitely known for their ballad but this band can rock
You guys will love their song Roll With the Changes
Golden Country LIVE. You've never heard anything like what Gary does to his guitar in that song. And the lyrics are so relevant decades later.
Way back, I remember listening to them on the streets of Champaign Illinois the first week of school at the University of Illinois. It was in the middle 70s. The band members were engineering students at Illinois in the late 60s and they had some great songs in the early to mid 70s.
Spent 18 hours on a bus riding half way across the country with my classmates shortly after REO visited our town on their High Infidelity tour. That was in the days of big ol' boom boxes. I have no idea how many batteries were used but we listened to this album the entire 18 hours, over and over and over. RIP Gary Richrath.
It is amazing. I haven’t heard this song in years and listening to this song is so nostalgic, brings me right back
REO was the masters of the “Power Ballad”
"Back on the road again" has the best guitar solo's
"ROLL WITH THE CHANGES" 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Roll With the Changes is their good times S-Tier banger. All your REO reactions have been the build up to it. Let er rip, fellas!
Couple suggestions for you guys. "Even The Losers" by Tom Petty and "It's In The Way That You Use It" by Eric Clapton. Both are songs most people don't think about off the top of their heads because these guys are legends with so many hits. But they're bangers and I'd love to see reactions to them. Peace!
Don't Let Him Go is for sure a banger. Must listen!
REO Speedwagon has another killer relationship/breakup song called "Take It On the Run." PLEASE check it out, it's a great song!
Also, "Roll With the Changes" will just melt your brain. One of the most epic organ solo's ever.
REO was never taken terribly seriously by hard core rock and roll obsessives like my friends and me, but I do admit their songs have aged wonderfully. I crank them up when I hear them in the car today. They had quality.
"Roll With the Changes" (has a great organ solo) and "Back on the Road Again" are two of my favorite songs by REO.
"Roll with the Changes" is one of my fave Karoake songs to sing, esp because Kevin Cronin's unique singing style is so imitatable (note how hard he sings his Rs...so midwestern!) This is fun, and as others have said was just SO ubiquitous for awhile. They have a lot of very solid tunes, kind of in the same family as this period of Chicago and Little River Band and Styx.
Loved this song when I was in high school .
"Roll With The Changes" is the obvious next choice. Another fav of mine is from an earlier album (REO/the cowhide album), called "Keep Pushin'" Both total bangers.
i’m 32, was introduced to this song by my mom as a child, later in Ozark as an adult, then in the bret easton ellis novel ‘the shards.’ this song has been haunting me and my millennial mind for years and it’s always such a fresh sound.
REO , golden county, take it in the run , so many great songs from this group, I have been to over 7 of their concerts , what a time to be alive .
One of the best breakup songs ever. The first few chords grab you instantly, the the perfect words.....
Back in the day, their big concert closing number was always: "Ridin' the Storm Out"
Back in the day they were a rock band with Terry Luttrell singing and writing. They Crownerd joined and they turned into a teeny bopper band
gotta give golden country a listen...rock anthem...
also saw them half dozen times great live ..underated band for sure
I was born in 1965 and a lot of the music I loved has been worn out and ruined by radio airplay. This song will never be ruined you could play at five times a day everyday, I also feel the same way about California dreaming, or the Chain, Refugee, and a couple other gems. What I really like is when these boys make me see something again or in a new light, and it's like every discovered it all over again
157 Riverside Dr. - Live. REO albums are cool, but they are BEST live IMHO having seen them 4 times live. THEY ROCK
