I think that's because the crews doing the work often don't do the prep/setting up of signs, barriers and lights if the works are planned and due to take some time. Different for minor works or unplanned, emergency fixes where they'll usually rock up prepared. I imagine if they outsource the prep to another company then it's less hassle to not juggle dates ... but not less hassle for road-users. We call them 'Maries' - as in Marie Celeste - no persons found on board!
I say, how dare you tell off the young ladies of St Philomena`s school, you oik. And come on, at the Purley carve up, you`ve got an electric car. You could hold your own over the standing quarter at Santa Pod, so the Audi should have been in your dust. I've been having fun watching from Ep. 33 over the last few days and I have to say the videos have got better and better over time, you even swear less nowadays🤣🤣🤣 I agree with you about the blind woman pushing her kid out into the crossing when you have green. She is one of the new breed of UK resident who take no personal responsibility for their actions and if something happens it will ALWAYS be the other persons fault. Talking of driving, if the last clip is in London the problem is the proliferation of immigrants who have never taken a UK driving test and who drive on their Iranian or Afghani or international or African licence (or no licence at all in a lot of cases.) The Met police have been told (by Sadiq) to not bother them cos they never pay fines anyway😋😋

I'm quite wary of pulling over for emergency services now. I try and leave it til late and even then you have to expect someone to decide to overtake. I'm sure the drivers are trained to look out for this.
Hi Tony, I see women Al the time pushing their pram into the road to check if it's safe for her to cross! I have also noticed that, although people pull over to the left for ambulances and fire engines, they don't bother for police cars. Another great video Tony. Hope you get over the dreaded lurgy soon.
I've seen it many times, pedestrian (often a woman) standing on the pavement waiting with the pushchair in the road. What is worse I've seen the pushchair rolled through the gap between parked cars & there is no way they can see if the road is clear.

I had new learner driver today and before moving off I talked to him about the total disregard of drivers for other drivers. This was to emphasise the need for all around observation. Within 2 mins as we stopped at a mini roundabout an Audi from ahead turned right without signalling. Tosser!

With regards to the junction previous with the lack of crossings on one side. It is a common feature and we have one near us like that as it enables best flow of cars and pedestrians. I notice the other three have crossing points and the consensus would be that pedestrians can safely navigate the three crossings but it still enables vehicles to proceed through the junction
I know it sounds a bit backwards but it does work and even crossing the road like those school children did is safe when everyone is going straight on
Have faith (occasionally) in our road planners, they do get it right sometimes 😁

Exactly! That's the crazy thing with LDC is that he uses the horn when it is not appropriate, but when it could be useful then he doesn't! I do wonder if in real time that he wasn't aware of the pram and motherand that it took him by surprise. If he did see her, was aware that she was going to cross yet moved off (when the lights were still red and amber) is both negligent and appalling.

Here in North Notts they seem incapable of removing yellow diversion signs. The signs are up weeks after the roadworks have finished and there are so many now that often they contradict each other as one set of works replaces another. Answer is to ignore all diversion signs unless it says 'Road Closed'.
Greetings from Kent, your bad day is an every day here. The driving is so bad here that I think I am in a different country, on the motorway they all drive on the right and if you catch them out doing something wrong its your fault, feels like some days I am going to have sore hands.
That one way is from Peterborough and on the left where the new houses just before the castle used to be the district hospital

I remember being drilled with the entire school in assembly (c.1954/5) 'At the kerb, halt. Look right, look left, look right again, and if the road is clear, quick march!". I uas informed that many years later this was deemed incorrect. Maybe when I am in Poland but in UK...why? We drive on the left?
We had the same when I was at school in the mid ti late 1970s. We would set up a road and crossing in the playground and have the green cross code drummed into us.

Talk about lane hogging....I was on the M1 bank holiday Monday, road works caused a 50mph limit. I was in the inside lane which was completely empty everyone else was in lane 2,all doing 50 so no overtaking. Thought of you Tony.

Kids at my local secondary school walk down the middle of the road daily, nothing gets done by authorities or even have it spoken about at the school (3 of my kids go there so i know it hasnt been ) we have had kids hit by cars when the child just stepped off the pavement with their back to traffic without even looking backwards to see if cars are coming.

When we’re out in public, we ALL have a responsibility to adhere to the rules. Whether you’re a driver, a cyclist and yes, even as a pedestrian. We all have our own rules and responsibilities to abide by. You don’t have to like them but you most definitely do have to follow them. I shall now dismount this high horse of mine. It is a tad high though.

The car that runs the red light at 12:00, there's a big secondary school on the right on the opposite side of the junction, behind the shops. I know, because I used to go to it many many years ago. Difficult to tell whether it's a school day or not. Obviously, there don't seem to be any kids around. But whizzing through red lights and generally misbehaving on the road near a school is a bad idea.
It was a Monday during Halve Term.
the learner driver has got a useless instructor as they should of braked for the learner before the parked car and told the learned to be more observant. Always been told too look ahead for possible issues be instructors so im putting the blame totally on that learner drivers instructor.

8:48 if she had crossed by the give way lines, you should yield as that is a side road joining a main road and pedestrians should be given priority, irrespective of the lights as there are give way lines.

You are probably too young to remember this, but when I was in school I joined the "Tufty Club" which was a Government campaign for road safety, Then they came up with The "Green Cross Code Man" who looked like some Super Hero, but today you see very little about using crossings and other road safety issues, even though the traffic is far heavier than it was when I was a child.
If I remember, I'll check the MOT out on that car in a few days time

Test date 4th Dec 2020, Repair as soon as possible (minor defects): Windscreen damaged but not adversely affecting driver's view.
This then appears on each MoT after that one, so obviously not fussed about getting it fixed even though it says repair as soon as possible.

@15:05 All those road works, with no actual "roadworks" being done, this country has gone down the toilet, as for the crap driving the standards are definitely dropping, with that Driving instructor @14:34 the signs are all there for the standards of driving to continue to decline until carmageddon finally happens. The Government should do something but they won't due to the fact the motorist is a huge source of income for them.

I am wondering about that Cycle box you pointed out [19:33], many bicycles are now electric (motorized) and a motorcycle is also motorized, so can the motorcycle use the box or not ? if not then surely the electric scooters and bicycles should also not ? and then what if the motorcycle was electric ? I had the volume up so loud the voice-over was deafening and I still heard no Siren ! I can just hear it with my PC Speaker volume at max but is was much quieter than the voice-over !
I could hear it on the video, just, but experience with my dash cam says that it's audible in person well before it's audible on the recording.

2:08 there’s no legal requirement for pedestrians and, in this case, cyclists have to wait for the green man. It’s a do not in the Highway Code not a must not. If there’s a red cycle adjacent to the red man, then cyclists must wait for the green cycle signal.

2:45 What in God's name is the 2nd lane even for? Turning back? I can honestly understand the confusion, from the way it looks and what I understand from the rules (even though they apparently seem to change at every roundabout, because why would you be consistent?), the left lane would only turn left, and that right one would go straight. But I guess what seems logical is never actually what it is so what do I know.
It is known technically as terrible road markings, I personally have never seen anyone use it not even a q-jumping Audi 😂,

Every 8 years for the new USA DL. It’s a joke too, because you just update your information and address and pay the $25. They need to see my birth certificate each time. Lol, my birth record won’t ever change. 😂😂😂

It should at least be every 10 years when the licence card expires.
Renewal tests should at least be free for the first 10 (or however long the initial renewal launch is) years to encourage all re-takes too. Insurance should then give you a licence discount based upon your continued competency, especially if a renewal is required more frequently.
Alternatively like some drivers do, just cut out the new one from the back of the cereal box once the current one runs out.
