- In this video tutorial, we go over how to paint metal in photoshop. Painting metal digitally, as with painting metal traditionally, is all about how the metal reacts to light and it's environment. The big difference is, while painting in photoshop you get the use of layers. You can use the knowledge gained in this tutorial for concept art, character design, to paint armor, to paint machines, etc..
Now this is a comprehensive guide to digitally painting armor in a stylized way. It's biggest difference towards other tutorials is how I teach you to render the light and environment reflecting off the metal. The way I teach here is my favorite way to paint armor in photoshop, for example.

Yes, it's stylized, BUT, the rules are REALISTIC and that's why this piece of metal looks believable. And I just love the method of "sculpting and carving" the shapes, so satisfying.
This tutorial is so good that its the first video with 0 dislikes I've ever seen.
