- Original survivor 1972 K3 Monkey Bike in excellent condition. First year with "soft-tail" rear suspension.
Specs are:
The Honda Z50A was the second generation of Honda's Z50 Series of mini bikes. Though its predecessor, the Z50M, was available in Europe and Japan a few years previously, in 1968, the Z50A-KO "Hard Tail", sometimes referred to as the "High Bar" or the "Slantguard", was the first of the Z50 series to be released to the American market. Upon its release this bike was considered to be a significant leap in technology in comparison to other mini bikes on the market at the time. This was partly because of its efficient 49 cc (3.0 cu in) four-stroke over head cam engine with semi-automatic transmission. Street legal lighting and lowered bars were added on the 1969/70 K1 "Short Tail", the 1970/71 K2 "Long Tail", and in 1972, after frame cracking became a growing issue, Honda incorporated rear suspension on the bike. The Z50A "Soft Tail" remained on the American market until 1978, when it was replaced by the Z50R. In Europe and Japan, the Z50A was renamed the Z50J in 1973, and remained on the market until 1999. The Z50JP is still available in Japan and through exporters in the United Kingdom.
My kids are still riding my 1974 z50, damn thing won’t quit, unbeatable
They are amazing! Thanks for commenting.
Exactly my first and favorite motorcycle I ever owned. I ride a Harley nowadays but would love to find a 1971 Z50A candy orange to buzz around my neighborhood. Congrats on such an amazing find.
I learned how to ride a bike on z50 had two of them red color 50 years ago the good old days.thanks.
I had the 50 and my sister had the 70. She still has both of them in the garage. Great memories, I can still hear my Mom and Grandma screaming to slow down😂
She wont sell them?
@@antoniorubio782 I'll probably end up with them, already have a clean 125m 3 wheeler from her, I've slowly been fixing everything on it, still have the seat to get re upholstered
Really nice z50!! I had one in the 70s. Now I want it back🤤
Man, I had so much fun exploring the woods on one of those when I was a kid. Absolute fun!
I wish I still had mine. It was the same color and everything, exactly like this one.
Me too. Exactly like this one. I could've just cried when he kicked it and I heard her fire up. Simplicity itself because her gears were just 3-down... didn't even have to squeeze any clutch.
We had one of those in that exact color I'm guessing it was a 72. Because of that, when I was little I said, "When I grow up I'm gonna get a motorcycle." Now I have a couple Harleys. 💙😄
Those little 50's are bullet proof, you cant kill um
I have one of those done nothing to it and works like a dream
Still cool 50 years later. Great survivor!
It is a absolute must for me to have this bike later on. I got a very simple but fast Honda CBF500 at the moment but for just exploring the local area and visiting nearby friends I would love to have a Z50, they not only look fun but as far as I know also drive well
My Dad bought me a used 1970 something z50 back in 1981, for 50 dollars. I was 11 years old in the fifth grade. I loved that thing for years until I got an ATC.
i never got a z-50,got a beat up minibike,,i,m 66 and still want one,,
DRINKING GAME!! Everytime he ses original you know what to do! 🍺
Hey Robert, be kind...we filmed this on "Originality Counts Monday"!
1972 for sure
After all, is this bike 1970, 1971 or 1972 ?
That's a sweet ride I think I like it better than my Night Train
I was driving this since I was 7.
How fast does it go? We just picked up the exact same model, and we are trying to restore it.
ill playbass to that
@@njdunkin same bro same 👍
It will do around 30 give or take a few mph...
35mph
That was my first bike!
Fonzie watched me jump the Snake River Canyon on one of those babies. I had a vivid imagination at 7 yo.
Heeeey!👍
I have one of these and they are really nice
Sweet lil bike.
Awesome bike! I am looking for a 1972 Z50 in Ruby Red, do you know of any for sale or where I might look to find one?
Beautiful...just Beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Thats a beautiful thing
Great bike thank you for sharing
Original oil?
Nice orig survivor a 1970, Im sorry a 1971. But the title says a 1972 lol
72 was the first year they had rear shocks aka softail.
Cut the guy some slack. The 80s were hard on brain cells. Lol great little bike!
It was indeed a '72 (first year for rear suspension). Sorry for the confusion, these mini's all start to look alike after a while...but they're all fun!
TriguyT110 mine was 71 w rear shocks
beautiful
needs a cam chain adjustment but really really nice condition
I love it.
Yo that thing is awesome
And 50 years later, the Honda CRF50F engine still looks the same...unreal.
Is this all original?!? 🤷🏼♂️
1972 first year for rear shocks......
I think trans is kicking in to gear to hard or is that just me? Btw that color paint its 1972 less its been repainted but its 1972 z50a k3 i have same exact bike i am restoring these engines do they all shift like that? I have ct70h to and that shifts really hard big clunk when it goes into gear. I noticed you didn't let it sit in first gear its supposed to be able sit still in gear mine stalls out looks like yours will stall out also way he jumped on gas. Let me know thank you
It was never supposed to sit still in first gear. If you want to idle just bring the clutch up till you're in neutral. The gears were 1,2,3 .. all down.
Heck. Even the gas is you guest it ORIGINAL!
Nice bike . Is it still available?
Very interested.
This one was sold on eBay but I have some other Mini-Trails. Call me at (724)502-0035 if you are interested in hearing about them.
Ok thanks
Is it for sale
This bike sold on eBay a couple of weeks ago. I have some others that I will be selling soon. Call me at (724)502-0035 if you are interested.
Thanks for your interest, Joe Felice
I have a 1969 im almost finished restoring. Might sell it when done. How much do you think they are worth? Your bike is in great shape btw Where did you get the front fender and headlight? How much did it cost?
We've been able to find the parts we need on eBay.
Is it for sale?
Thanks for your interest, we just listed it on eBay this evening.
what did it sell for??
Fantastic
Do you sell your restorations or just collect them.
No, I sell them on eBay. I have one that will launch this evening. It is a 1970 K2 in blue & white. Thanks for your interest.
Yeah but is it "all original"
I have the exact same one all original everything but mine's a 72 mine's all the same paint everything original tires whole 9 yards
Es muy linda, parece de juguete !! 😂
Those seemed faster when I was a kid.
Steven Koby probably weighed less then
That and i was probably only 8 or 9 years old. :)
@@stepaukob when I was 8 or 9 I had an 87 yz80 lol. But i remember these being really fun. My son has a crf110f and i cant help but recognize the similarities. ❤👌
Had an exact similar one. Sold it 25 years ago for about 50 euros 🤬
You could've gotten 10X that amount
Nice bike
Valves need to be adjusted way. To loud
