I can always count on Mr. Silva to explain how to do things that are done correctly and last!
Awesome 👍 this video and the way you explain it is so helpful I did my kitchen and it came out perfect thanks brother
As usual a terrific Job. a lot of tips and ideas. Thank you .
Superb expertise! Thanks for posting!
Love laminate flooring! I used to hate it but now the stuff is so sweet to work with!
( accept the ultra fine saw dust) 12mm or 10mm just fly in...The weight of them just folds it right in...Don't know what he planed for that closet because it looked like an after thought...
Very useful!
You can also float vinyl floors on roofing felt. Goes down quick, looks nice. Easy change out in the future.
Great job real experts!
Great set of videos min this time of getting value for money from your own skills, this is ideal. Hope you are making some money on this
Can I install laminate flooring over a 3000 sqft area and gluing it down to prevent buckling/movement due to temperature changes?
Completed a basement floor today. .. it was a ton of cutting. ..the video by passes all that. You know how it goes..looks beautiful though.
thanx...
Great Video
I wanted more info about what kind of threshold trims and also where vinyl is meeting a hardwood floor
WHen this guy breaks out his scribe it messes up everything I thought I knew lol. Also, after watching it seems like a better option to use your own underlayment.
Should one board in the middle of the floor get accidentally damaged after the floor is all completed is it possible to replace the damaged board without removing all the flooring leading to the damaged board ?
If so would you show us how please.
Can anyone tell me the brand and specific product being installed in this video? I’ve been searching for a horizontal bamboo pattern like this.
Thanks
I have been putting down the laminate flooring however every time I do this the previous installation unhooks. please help me this project is taking longer than expected
This is a crack up to watch
Use waterproof vinyl planking in basements.
Very nice, helpful hints, tips & tricks... Thanks!
How do you finish the end pieces at the entrance, do they need to be sealed.
+shari johnston They get covered with trim.
Hello, where would I be able to purchase that small black trapezoid shape tool that you used to hit against the end of the plank?
Tapping block - Amazon
And how did they prep the concrete floor you left those details out
I have wood floor now can I put the vinyl flooing over it and do I need under sheets on it?
That's what I wanna too?
So the floor just sits there? Without being attached to anything or nailed to anything except for the trim molding?
Mars Sojourner
yes mars. staggering joints and the tounge n grove stop any movement.. the wood will expand and contract as Tommy said..why the premitter is held back a quater inch
Yep ... that's why it's called a "floating" floor
Mr where can i find the orange hammer and the blocks ?
hardware store? lol
Does anyone know why Tom didn't remove the tongue against the wall on the first course?
He actually put the groove side against the wall, but verbalized it wrong, possibly just from a little nervousness. When he pointed out the "tongue side" and "groove side", he was backwards. However, he did install it correctly.
At 1:02 He said that he started "with a cut pice when laying his first row" .....(can someone explain this to me) ..What are the measurements of his first cut?
The first piece he placed was cut shorter than its full length. The measurement doesn’t really matter, but I’m guessing maybe it was cut in half or only a 1/3 or 1/4 piece was cut from the end butting up to the wall.
You got the tongue and groove backwards when you were explaining what side you start with first
zachary dorsey thanks Robert
I was just reading all the comments to see if anyone notice that.
I'd heard that it is not recommended to install a hardwood floor in a basement (even with a vapor barrier). Is that not true?
I personally would use vinyl water resistant.
You left out the most important detail what is under the OSB board the subfloor ?¿????
Just taaap it in. Tappy, tappy😅
Just give it a little tappy? Tap tap taparoo?
So, what if there wasn't a closet to access to tap the last piece in??
Then you start from that end and work your way back for that grow. Make sure to brace the small cut piece or have someone stand on it as you tap the other pieces in behind it.
why not floating all the way into the closet? carpet for the closet?
Its a demo, not a makeover.
The quality of that looks like pergo shaped hardwood.
Groove side against baseboard
zachary dorsey thanks bill
I was told that the best way to install flooring is to use laminate floating floor on my wooden storage shed
Can I install a floating floor before installing kitchen cabinets? Then, cut the flooring at the cabinet line, remove the cut flooring, and finally lay the cabinets on the sub-floor?
You'd be better off just installing the floating floor after cabinetry is installed. 1) you'll spend a little less okn flooring.
2) the weight of the cabinets could prevent the floor from moving properly which could lead to separation issues at the joints.
If it's vinyl floor you can put the floor down then place your cabinets on that. If it's not vinyl then you may run into issues later with the floor not being able to move correctly.
I thought they glued them on the subfloor
We do. This floor will be fucked in a year from moisture entering the joints. Sooner if it gets spilled on. The veneer will delaminate from the plywood substrate. I believe he got bad advice.
I really need to learn how to scribe
some helpful tips for those attempting this.
DONT create a pattern, go with a random staggered pattern (it looks better and saves material + it can save you from difficult cuts such as door jambs)
Work a couple rows at a time to save time
Your first row is always difficult to start, I suggest using a temporary row to guide your first row in place.
To save material. Take the leftover piece from your cuts and use it to start the next rows. This is how it should be installed in the first place.
For an easier time, make sure the flooring you purchased is DROP LOCK
You will need a multitool to under cut those door jamps. A jigsaw and a table saw.
so little info about laying floor boards, people see this and they think they can do themselves 😄
you have tongue and groove flopped.. groove goes in.. tongue sticks out :P
You're the only one who thinks that.
Wondering why this video has 117 negative views. Perhaps they are just sadist.
N
Dude, I would've thought you'd know better. Moisture doesn't just come up through subfloors; it can come in under walls, too. You must run the plastic moisture barrier a couple of inches up each wall so the space between walls and floor is covered too. (The baseboard trim covers the overlap.)
Those home owners need to quiet it down.
just be mindful not to buy the cheap type. get the waterproofed one. if you buy the cheap one.... mop and dry. do not let the water sit
How to Lay a floating floor: First, find a boat.
Ha ha, five years and you got your first like ...
Laminat nije topliji od plocica.
That flooring & those baseboards are just hideous!!
Can't watch the video. Nothing but ads over and over and over...

Is your friend
NEVER USE A TACK HAMMER ON THE UNDERLAYMENT ! THAT'S ROOKIE CRAP !
Can you explain why? I'm genuinely curious.
There's a number of reasons why . Reason 1 - your ruining the moisture barrier , 2 - you're risking having noises when you walk on the flooring from the Staples in the underlayment
@@williammolchan3883 what do you recommend to hold it securely in place?
I'm a professional flooring contractor with over 25 years experience . For floating floor underlayment just use good quality duct tape on the seams of the underlayment . There's no need to fasten it to the ground at all . In my experience doing this for years the underlayment doesn't move and you maintain a perfect moisture barrier if you're using quality underlayment like a 3 in 1 Eva 3mm underlayment
It's not like carpet padding you don't staple it to the ground
Bad job. Should have removed the wall trim, then reinstall trim so no shoe molding. Lazy
That carpet is disgusting
