I couldn’t agree more. What a great suggestion. I was panicking when it started splashing when the bottle explicitly says that it’s an irritant but the instructional video did not suggest removing the nozzle. Thank you!
Thank you that was very helpful. Just a question - is it also possible to descale the machine with White Veniger or Lemon juice in absence of the Delongi Descaler? Its impossible to get the Descale Liquid in Nepal.
it should say on the side. Depending upon the version of descaler you might use 1/5 to 1/3 of the bottle. The bottle used in my video was divided into 1/5 markings as shown at 00:33.
To anybody who owns this machine. Remove plastic from inside of stock handle, saw it off or get aftermarket one. Plastic in stock one drastically changes taste.
Good day. Orange light for descaling is still NOT flashing. Can I still descale without descaling flashing orange light signal as it has been 4 months since I last descaled ? Please guide .
Somehow we have put the descaler through the machine without it being in descaler mode. We followed the manufacturer video tutorial before finding your video 😂 We have flushed it twice, so do you think it’s ok to use? We plan to follow this video once we’ve bought more descaler. Thanks!
You 'can't' descale it properly without having the orange light flashing. Your machine will be 'stuck' so you need to reset it, this will likely immediately invoke the orange light as it is likely that it needs descaling after 7 months. To Reset Default values This resets all menu settings and programmed quantities back to the default values. To reset the default values, proceed as follows: 1. Position the steam spout over the drip tray 2. Access the settings menu: press and hold the (Steam) button for 10 seconds until the three buttons flash in sequence: 3. Turn the steam dial to the down position; 4. Press the Single Cup button. The three lights flash simultaneously to confirm that all original settings have been restored. 5. The and lights flash to indicate that the steam dial must be closed again (O symbol). When the steam dial has been closed, the appliance is ready for use.
if you went correctly through the process correctly, then the dedica requires another descaling. This can happen if it has been left too long. If it happens again contact Delonghi support.
Read the manual: No water in the tank ~ the tank is inserted incorrectly and the valves on the bottom are not open ~ the espresso boiler outlet is blocked ~ the Coffee filter is blocked ~ Limescale in the water circuit - are all options shown in the manual
I ran this same sequence and still get the flashing orange light. Unscrewed the metal filter and gave that a good cleaning. Then I ran a 2nd descaling process. Still the flashing orange light. I am using 50-50 mix of water and white vinegar.. I’ve had this delonghi espresso machine for years and have done this many times in the past. I’m baffled why it still flashes orange
According to Delonghi the flashing orange means it still needs another descaling. I've never had to do more than one descaling process. Make sure that the steam wand knob is turned 'off', i.e. pointing towards the front.
YT won't allow me to post a link, but search for "Why your delonghi dedica 680 won't finish descaling in less than 1 minute". In short: hold the flashing button until it stops.
I found that the rinse must be a full tank of water and let it run to empty. First time I did this I stopped the rinse just before it emptied and the yellow flash would not go off.
@@HelpfulPhil by rinsing I meant running the water through as instructed after running descaler through it. Think I figured it out - I wasn’t filling the water to the MAX FILL line so I was stuck in an endless loop!
@@michael-kq9un not totally sure I understand the question, but I would run the cleaning through both outlets, but you can run more of the one which is used for your expressos.
@@HelpfulPhil Sorry, could i just clean the part where the coffee comes out? because i never use the switch. i never use the nozzle where steam comes out.
@@michael-kq9un you can try. The hot water uses the same pipework and the rocker switch simply diverts the supply to the steam nozzle. Cleaning the nozzle may help clean that section of the divertion pipework.
Hi after i descale and rinsing my machine is not working anymore... when i try to make an espresso rather than water coming out of the filter. Water will start sputting out of the steam wand instead
Quite likely, check with cafiza that it is suitable for these types of machines, then follow all the usual rinsing protocols and I'm sure you'll be fine.
My coffee machine stopped the descalling process half way through, the lights gone off however It didn’t use all the solution and I’m not sure if the machine is clean enough for me to actually make and drink coffee 😢
I had the same problem, I stop rinsing after first refill, but I had to fill again with fresh water but I stop the process. You can start again the descalling process even if the orange yellow lamp is off. Send you the link: ua-cam.com/video/t-AjNGFF16M/v-deo.html
Rinse out the rear container a couple of times (or however many makes you happy). The system only prescribes for one rinse cycle. Coffee is far more 'poisonous' than the low levels of decaulking liquid you will be encountering if you go through the correct cleaning processes.
@@HelpfulPhil because, wwhen i start the machine and wait until the lites stops blinkin and i press on the one ore two cops button the machinee runs a litle moment and then it stops, when i puch the descale button also vijf seconds it also starts descaling but also for a little moment.
Somebody get this man a job at Delonghi, he's done a better job explaining than them lot
So much clearer than Delonghi’s tutorial! Thanks!
That was much more helpful than the manufacturer's manuals and video, thank you.
OMG thank you. Spent half a day trying all sorts of things. This worked!
I tried Delonghi's tutorial and it vaporated the solution all over the kitchen. Thank you for the clear instructions. It worked well!
This job sits on my to-do list for months... Today is finally the day, thank you!
surprised you didn't do this for months, most coffee drinkers have a coffee every day
@@MILKMANKEZ you can make coffee and drink it even if the machine needs descaling, it is just not very good and the taste deteriorates.

I appreciate it.
Your video is more detailed and concise. De Longhi’s cuts some corners so I appreciate your video, thank you
Simple & easy to understand, especially the button sequences

Sir I salute you for saving my morning today 😅
Still the best! Still coming back to this tutorial since 2021! Thanks Phil!
Best video ever for cleaning this machine
Thank you. Best video on this topic on UA-cam. Much better than Delonghi, too! Greetings from New York City:)👍🏽🇵🇷🗽❤️
Must clearer and helpful video than the official one!
Thanks Phil
Best video for descaling
Thank you, worked well unlike the de Longhi official video which if followed results in the machine not realising it has been descaled.
Thank you so much for such a good and well explained tutorial.
very helpful video, much more helpful than the one made by Delonghi itself. thank you!
Good clear step by step video. I made it a favourite and use your guide every time I descale. Cheers

Well explained. The question is it recommended to use demineralised water???
For cleaning- no. You must use a proper descaler. For coffee, your choice. I use filtered water.

there is no fixed time for this - just switch it regularly during the process. Use what feels right!
