Wow. Takeuchi too. I just visited your discography on Wikipedia. It is simply too impressive. Man, you are as legendary and important as an old classical composer, so hats off again.
I love Mariya Takeuchi so much! Her music is timeless in my opinion. I own a couple of her albums on vinyl, and her husband Tatsuro Yamashita is also a great Japanese musician!
'Sinatra, The Musical' looks like it's going to be fantastic! Thanks for the 'intro' from the Apollo Theatre! 😊 And, Katz's Deli brought back 😋 memories! So cool, thank you!
Hi Leland! So lovely music … shared it with my Japanese/ Rastafarian cupple … they are both painters…. So sure they will enjoy listening in the studio…..water here has subsided… and no rain in the forecast …. We got 20- 30 inches in some places… high and dry here…. But, lots of folks had to get out with canoes…. Crazy weather…. Glad to hear your trip to NY went well…. Katz is my favorite pastrami place also…… so cool rendition of “Thick as a brick”…. Love to all…. 🌹🪷🌹🪷🌹🪷🥰🙏🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻❤️
“New” old fan. Glad I found this channel. Lee, thanks so much for sharing your world with the rest of us. Your music lives in my heart. Truly. Keep on keeping on!
First thing I did at the end was drag back and listen to these once more! Classic Sklar bass part, starting on the octave notes at intro - I’d know it was you if I’d heard this on my own. It’s blatantly obvious to hear that Fly Away is a hit record, it is AWESOME. Your part I feel lends itself to a fretless bass and I think it’d have sounded great, I can just hear it! I always walk away learning of something new here, that’s why I keep coming back! That Dick Wagner thing was great too.
glad to hear that you leave your bubble sometimes to have a hang with people like kevin albinder. i heard of those famous pastrami sandwiches and if i'll ever make it to new york, i'll make it to katz's deli as well.
You're one busy guy Lee. Just watching this connecting in Phoenix. Back to Milwaukee tonight. Six years ago we were about to go to Maui, then the wife started chemo. This week was like a celebration that she survived and we are still living well. 😊

@@m1nn1s Hi Andy, my phone must have cut me off while I was here last. I keep plugging in phones and moving furniture around organizing stuff, in between.
Today’s selection reminds me of the clarity and simplicity in music production back in the late 70s. The Bass Guitar has as much presence as the Lead Vocal! The songs were simpler as well with easily identified chord progressions with straightforward melodies and themes. I assume Tina Sinatra’s Broadway Show showcases the incredible life of her Father from Tommy Dorsey, the Rat Pack to the Comeback. 125rh Street, I’m envious! One day I will “Fly Away but not today”!
I don't see my previous post...there was an article about Jesse Ed Davis in the New York Times on November 19. Because of you, Lee, I know who he is! Thanks as always for your wonderful channel and spirit!
Hey lee 👋🏻 great seeing you again. Songs were very good and that last song, in the beginning when she was singing those low notes I got a Karen Carpenter vibe and this is a massive compliment to her cause Karen as we all know had one of the best voices EVER. so needless to say I liked them very much. Thank you for sharing. Please take care sir. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey Lee sounds like you had a good time in NYC other than the rain. I'm available any time you want to talk about another book signing at Norm's. That's if you want to do another one. Have a good day! Bob Love
Interesting that you had never been at the Apollo either as a performer or as a guest. And the Sinatra dry run? Once again, evidence that you live a remarkable life. Hope Maureen feels better every day. Mariya: Pure pop! (David Ben-wa.)
Mariya Takeuchi, and Yumi Matsutoya!?! Everyone knows that your work is massively extensive - but I had no idea that you did so much with Japanese artists! Takeuchi, Matsutoya, Imai, Matsuda...iconic divas of contemporary Japanese music! Rock on!
Very enjoyable songs. Mariya has a lovely voice. Loved the arrangements and mix. You came through so clear, it was next thing to a play along. Love and Thanks ❤👍❤👍 Lol, spell check turned Mariya to Marinated.
Hey Lee. Yesterday I saw a new musical in Hollywood called Adventures in the Great Beyond. One of the actors. Connie Jackson , wrote she worked with Phil Collins. Does her name ring any bells?
😮😮. That busy 🐝🐝 thing is great, but get some sleep!!! She sounds great! Easy to see why she was a hit in Japan. Do you recall if she was a fan of Karen Carpenter, Brenda Lee or Patsy Cline? If you know anybody complaining about lack of seasons in our neck of the woods, let me know; I can set them up with a fall 🍁 raking experience-- they won't even have to pay for it!
For a guy who's a fan of straight ahead rock, the diversity of projects on which you've worked continues to amaze. A number 1 album in Japan. Incredible. I'm surprised you made your 1st visit to the Apollo. Didn’t see that one coming, but glad you did. Please get some rest. We are May babies & you're just a yr. older. With your work schedule, your bod needs that time to r&r. Your pace leaves me dazzled. ps: I hope any book orders possibly coming to Canada aren't impacted by the current strike by Canada Post. It's causing a huge backlog & general havoc right before Christmas.
My mother is in a process of three consecutive eye operations to try to save whatever is left of her eyesight. Not at all sure it'll help, but she's still hanging in there. Fixing that is above my pay grade, but what I can do is feed her my legendary lamb bhunna curry. And so I did, successfully, but then she came back with some great meatballs today. Guess it's in the fingers. 😋
Hey there, Hans. Anxious times with ailing parents...it's great that you're (actively) there. And as the son of an Italian mum, I recognize the appearance of some great meatballs as a really encouraging sign. Hang in there and very best to you both.
@@markcass4700 Hey Mark, thank you, hope you're well. Yes, so far it looks like I'll have to practise the Christmas songs so she can sing along with my uke. That is, if her hearing aids are still sufficient a month from now. We'll enjoy every meatball. 😉
