I recently purchased one and it is fantastic. At 75 yards I am printing shamrocks, i.e. 3 rounds touching. At 100 yards it is .400 inches with Hornady 17 grain. I am a lefty and this is just the most comfortable and accurate rifle that I own. Five stars all the way around!!

Good video! I have one I bought 7 years ago and never really dialed it in. It was one of those rifles I had to have but haven’t used it in probably 6 years. I’ll take it out soon as 17 hmr is about the only ammo available now.

I had the same one but in 22lr. I sold it without ever shooting it and bought a Ruger American Rimfire when they came out. I've often regretted selling it, but the Ruger seemed to make a little more sense for hunting. I wish I had the Savage back for bench shooting though.

Nice rifle! Just picked one of these up in left hand. Looking forward to shorting the life expectancy of my local coyotes, and whistle pigs.

Oh btw the 2nd trigger is called an act trigger. It’s a really nice feature to these guns. I love mine

It's great when you can adjust it, but lots of folks, myself included, cannot get lower than 5 or so pounds which isn't great for target or competition shooting.

You need to put oil your gun then if you have rust spots. Or you don't put on enough.? I have had blued barrels for over 20 years and and don't have any rust on my guns. Nice guns though. The trigger is called the ACCU trigger.

Do not make contact with your hands, and when you do, wipe it down

Anyone know the difference in the BTVS and the BTVSS? I can't find an answer anywhere....

My Savage BTVS in 22LR came with very poor craftsmanship. Although the outside of the Boyd's stock was "okay", the inside below the barrel wasn't even sanded, leaving numerous splinters over half an inch long, which can be seen but not sanded without removing the barrel. The barrel and action appear okay visibly, but the trigger guard looks like something you'd find on dollar store toy gun. NOT what I expected for a rifle over five hundred dollars.

I thought I was the only one… I got one in 17 HMR and it can’t keep groups for nothing. Running a new vortex gen 3 6-36 and vpm rings.. scope and rings are worth 4x the gun.. can’t keep groups less than 2 moa @100 yds.. Took it out of the stock tonight, tried to reduce the trigger spring and can’t back it out anymore.. things running around 7 lbs.. give me a break! Not to mention the stock is touching the barrel in multiple spots.. free float barrel? Junk stock, garbage trigger.. Augh.. I guess I’ll go start sanding.. and call savage tomorrow.. for ammo I’ve tried it all and settled on Hornady 17gr vmaxs… should have just gotten a cz? Starting to wonder. I was really hoping to have something I could hit what I was aiming at with…

Looks like the reviewer got a good one though. I’m assuming I got a Covid lemon.. even the bolt cutout on his stock looks nice and sanded. Mines sliver central..

@@grizzlygreene3529 Great response. Regarding your comment "should have just gotten a cz", I have this to offer; the CZ 457 LRP is well worth looking at!

@@grizzlygreene3529 The cutout on my stock is almost one half of an inch off center...awful.

@@anthonyfond5472 yep! I don’t think the cz is even that much more. Even if it’s a thousand I’d rather have it. I’ve spent probably close to 500 just in ammo trying to figure out why this thing can’t group. If I knew I needed to have a degree in gunsmithing to hit anything I would have never bought it. Also, I noticed the bolt cutout being off tonight as well.. lol mine is about a half inch off as well.. I’ll reach out to savage and see what their response is and let you know. Wish I would have came to this conclusion sooner but I had trouble believing it was the gun and not me. My FX AIRGUNS can hit pellet for pellet at 50 yards and are 100% sub moa. I’ve hit birds consistently out past 100 yards with my AIRGUNS.. not so much with the 17.. The only other thing I can think of is the wind conditions. If you pull up your bc calcs you’ll find the 17 hmr really moves around in the breeze. So, lately I’ve been waiting until it’s completely calm out and trying to zero it.. still can’t get it to group..
