    I double the line,make a small loop,twist it twice then fees the big loop through for my patternosters.Then I cut one of the legs off and attach hook with uni knot.
    Any reason you use unlocked blood knots?I find they let go under tension on big fish and would always lock them.I use uni knots solely now.
    Great work.Keep it up.

    Love your simple explanations...why would the red tubing and bead improve catch chances? Cheers.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  2 роки тому +1

      It just acts as an attractant and the change of colour can grab a fishes attention. Its really personal preference whether you need them or not. I have had occasions where the rigs with the beads were getting more catches.

  • @bobking4031
    @bobking4031 2 місяці тому

    When you loose your hook and fish you will realise when doing a blood knot it pays to lock it by passing the tag end back through the loop then pull it up. I find it better when using red tube and bead put the red tube closest the hook with the bead on top it makes a diffrence

    Cheers

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 роки тому +1

      We generally go as light as we possibly can, this will be determined by the tidal flow and depth. If I'm fishing somewhere that's 3-5 meters deep and not to much tidal flow than size 1 is OK, it means the fish feels less resistance when they strike which is good. If your baits aren't getting to the bottom than go slightly heavier.

    Hey mate, any pretence on having sinker at swivel vs sinker down to hook?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 роки тому +1

      I tend not to have the sinker down near the hook, my reasoning for this is it add resistance when the fish takes the bite it may feel the resistance on not get a clean strike. not to say it wouldn't work but that's what I've always thought

    • @nolixss694
      @nolixss694 3 роки тому +2

      @@fishingmad yes I agree, I only do that to use it for when using a small sinker (size 0-1)as I’ve found fish don’t feel it but then when using bigger then that I always have it behind swivel.

    Would you recommend a running sinker rig or a paternoster rig for fishing in Western Port Bay, typically in the north arm area, using 1/0 black magic KL circle hooks?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 роки тому +1

      Id start with a paternoster as the tides are strong and that will ensure the baits are down the bottom

  • @teddykara8628
    @teddykara8628 3 роки тому +1

    How do you use the running sinker rig in the water?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 роки тому +1

      Just cast into the water, the running sinker will move up and down the mainline freely allowing the bait to move naturally. Its a very effective way of catching many fish species.

    Hi mate,
    thanks for your video. Just a question. Do you use for the line braid or mono and in which size.
    Thank again

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  2 роки тому

      Mainline i usually use braid generally between 6-10 lb. However as its for fishing with bait it can be cheaper to use mono again 6-10 lb. Braid is much more important when lure and plastics fishing but i tend to use it for most of my fishing.

    Another awesome video Alan!! How come you use two lines to make a paternoster ? And why’s one a different colour ?
    Cheers

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the positive comment. I was using different colours just to make the video easier to understand. usually I would be using the same leader. I find using 2 lines to make the rig is much tidier. I have another way of making 2 dropper lines using the one piece of leader but then the lines where the hooks are become doubled up which is really messy and i think the strike rates are less. I hope that helps, let mw know if you have any other questions.

Blackrock is great for snapper, squid flathead, stkilda great for flathead, snapper, snook, mount martha exceptional for squid and salmon, port melbourne amazing for snapper. I hope this helps.
