@@nestor.valentinoDepends on which you're after. To me, Sinatra does a good job but technically; Great control/technique. But Judy... She puts SOUL into what she's singing here. You can feel what Judy is singing about while also getting a tuned, controlled sound. Sinatra puts voice to the music. Judy creates an entity that is living those lyrics. Stark difference. Both are great performers, but I can't help but believe Judy more than Sinatra.
🎹 When I was a pianist/singer in New York City in the late 60s, Judy came in and she got up and sang with me for 2 hours. I remember it as if it were yesterday. She kept her hand on my shoulder the whole time. It was a small, pale hand, with a Mickey Mouse watch on it. 😢
I always love on the Judy Garland Show when the frame is filled by her face and the voice, the charisma, the emotions are so massive THEN the camera pulls back and you see this tiny person, smiling and bowing humbly. God, she is so wonderful.
Stunning rendition of a classic that's been performed by many great singers. But Judy performs Ole Man River here with her whole body and soul. Just breathtaking. Wow. 🙂
I've said this before and willl again and again: The entire performance is superb but when she Judy sings the ending "And Old Man River....." with her head to the right and open throated belting it brings to mind what I've heard Whoopi Golberg saying: "When Judy Garland sang, god spoke"
Sometimes in her older days, her performances were sometimes better or worse than others. But once in awhile , she literally pulls out all of the stops and delivers a performance that leaves you a little breathless , it’s that amazing . This was one of those performances . I literally take a breath for her whenever I see this performance .
She sings this song from her very soul with such anguish and pathos. A daring interpretation for a song performed by male vocalists. This is why she is a legend. The color is just lovely, gives the performance a whole new life.
Good if you like singers that can hold lines and emotional kick-in-the-gut notes without seeming to breathe oxygen, and leave you wanting to weep in joy. I recall Ethel Merman's line about Mary Martin, "Eh, she's okay, if you like talent..."
Pure talent. What power! Her humanity allowed her to empathize with and speak for the oppressed. No one could fake such compassion. Amazing performance. I wish I were there. Thank god for film to allow us to experience her magnificence.
Such depth in the lyrics and the performance is Godly. Judy was one of a kind. I keep trying to think of what an equivalent star would be in these times and I can't pinpoint a single one. Gaga has proven herself talented for example but nowhere near as endearing or characterful.
Someone (can't remember who) wrote, "There was Al Jolson and Judy Gar!and. Then the broke the mold." If you are a relatively new fan, I suggest watching her 1962 appearance on Jack Paar. Unsurpassed. Garland at her funniest, wittiest and in perfect voice. Its on UA-cam somewhere. Thanks.
I truly and sincerely hope that when someone (and I am sure that it's going to happen one day, hopefully soon) financially supports the colorization of the 26 Judy Garland TV shows, that it will be by you! Your meticulous dedication with so very much love and perfection makes me ache for this to happen asap!🤔🤗💌
I want to thank you again for especially colorizing the song from Judy's TV series: "I'll show them all" ! You took your time and did this especially just for me!!😳😯😊🤗 May God always bless you for the love that you send and give to everyone in the world today!!😇💌
You are absolutely the very best of all the many colorized videos/movies etc that I have ever seen. Could you possibly colorize the complete Steve Allen and Judy duet when he and she are singing his songs from his broadway musical "Sophie"? You did such a great and outstanding job when you colorized "I'll show them all" from that clip (and I must greatfully say you did this just for me!!!) . I can't help thinking and wishing how wonderful it would be if you did colorize the complete segment. I know I am asking a lot but if you could do it, I and many hundreds (or probably thousands) who love and are enjoying your excellent and superior work would all be so very thrilled ,(and greatful)!🤗🥰💌
Thank you for stopping by. Judy is amazing! Only recently rediscovered her again. It's strange how music from childhood comes full circle at a certain point, with all the more meaning than before.
She suffered, yet gave us so much with her natural talent- that amazing voice, her dancing, she was beautiful and wonderful. Loved her.
To me, the best performed song. By anyone. She’s at the very top of her game here.
Can't decide which version I like more: hers or Sinatra's?!

@@weremyjiggins89 But how about that 13 second sustain tho (by Sinatra)?
@@nestor.valentino Again, technically impressive, but I'm after the meat, not the gravy, so to speak.

That curtsy at the end says everything. Judy knew. She nailed it!
As no less than Frank Sinatra himself said “Judy’s the greatest. The rest of us will be forgotten- not her”.

she was fine in this era.. . it was really just the last 2-3 years that it was touch and go.
Some people channel greatness from some divine source. Judy was one of those artists.
She looks so beautiful.

❤❤she looked beautiful, aside from her unbelievable vocals.
Astonishing. I was born in 1981 and only know Judy from media. This is a wonderful project and thank you so much for bringing me closer to her.
And that's how it's done!❤️
This is the best performance ever!! Of any song, anywhere!! Simply perfection!! An Academy Award winning performance.
One of her greatest performances...
... she was a genuine and definative artist whose life and legacy continues to influence future generations because she still matters.
Her and jolson the greatest singers of all time
My heart. My poor old heart. Wracked with our Judy. My dear heart. You're stll here
America’s little sparrow. Absolutely astonishing.
This is my favorite performance by far. Her emotional connection to this song is readily apparent.
Pure talent. What power! Her humanity allowed her to empathize with and speak for the oppressed. No one could fake such compassion. Amazing performance. I wish I were there. Thank god for film to allow us to experience her magnificence.
Genius is FOREVER.
One of her top live performances. She sings this as if she has lived every note.
One of the greatest performances ever...unmatched!
Epic and powerful

One of the great performances of all time. Easily.
Stunning! Thanks for doing all the work, and posting. We need her now.
Absolutely. I would love to have someone of her ability now. Losing her was a real tragedy.
Just definitive. Astonishing.
Masterpiece! Channeling all her pain into art. The colourisation brings you closer to the performance.
Gotta disagree, especially with the cut at 2:01; the original black and white was spectacular.
Love her messin with her hair , do it up right , love it
Like a Mama singing her baby to sleep...got to love it
The emotion and feeling...Tears in my eyes. 💞
You go Judy!!!!!!
An eternal woman among others...
Powerful
Pure magic

I like that o think of her like this, too!
