Its good people that are unhappy are leaving. I stayed in Philippines for 3 years, Quite often i would meet expats that do nothing but complain. I tell them that Planes fly both ways every day. You should live where you like. I love Philippines and i loved Thailand 30 years ago, but I feel that Philippines is much better because it has not been ruined by tourism yet. Most of the chronic complainers try to bring their country with them when they come to Philippines I think that they will not be happy anywhere they decide to stay.

I agree. And it's every where. When I lived in Vietnam, they were there complaining. When I lived in Thailand, they were there. Now I live in way off grid in rural Montana and, you guessed it. There are those who complain about anything and everything. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to matter where they are from. Just who they are individually.

I have lived in the Philippines for over 12 years now, I am a British ex-pat but have no desire to return to the UK. The immigration authorities have really tightened the rules in the last few years, you can no longer leave the country for a few days and expect to be let back in. They will explain that you can't live permanently in the Philippines on a tourist visa, which is fair enough. I am living in Dumaguete and have been here for around 7 years, it is so safe and the people are so friendly, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I will be getting the A13 visa soon after I marry my beautiful partner, I was pulled over the last time I entered the country after 2 days in Hong Kong and told that I would not be allowed back into the country if I tried the same thing again. At the moment we are waiting for the marriage licence to be processed, you will find that it is not easy to go through all the stages of requirements needed, but if you want to live permanently here, you will have to endure. Of course, there is the option of the SRRV retirement visa, but that will cost you big bucks.. Hope this comment has been of use to any ex-pats out there, and good luck to you all....

Good information. I did some research on the immigration options before I came to the Philippines from Canada. With my limited funds and income I decided to immediately marry my wife and start the process for my 13(a) visa. After the long and complicated process I finally received it (probationary) after about one year. I am now waiting for approval on the non probationary 13(a) visa. This visa is an excellent option for people who don't have the financial means to leave the country and come back in, and also who can't afford the SRRV retirement visa.

As I recall Mark, you twice talked about leaving. The most recent time seemed to me came from frustration - no electricity for days, storm damage and destruction, roads blocked, lack of freedom of movement, income down as few people to interview, lack of travelling and maybe other reasons. The real question is how long will it be acceptable for the Philippines to lose about a third of the revenues they generate from tourism? I expect in 3-6 months they will change their tune. If not there are plenty of other places in the world to check out. But their actions in regards to covid have already dampened the enthusiasm of those of us who were contemplating moving there permanently. When I first came to the Philippines 12 years ago it was easy to leave and come back. I married a wonderful Filipina eight years ago and the fact that she wants to return to her country during the US winter is the only reason why I would return to the Philippines. Had I not married her, I would be looking to other countries for extended stays. The onerous Philippine bureaucracy is not welcoming to visitors and ex-pats. The ACR card expires in 5 years. I just showed my ACR card with my passport when entering the Philippines at Immigration desk at NAIA.

The unvaccinated should have known a long time ago that by not getting vaccinated would eliminate them from world travel. I knew this over a year ago when vaccines first started rolling out. I'll be arriving in the philippines June 21st hopefully travel restrictions will be less of a hassle by then, if not I'll still be on my way

I am waiting for the safe Novavax to be approved in the US. Japan has bought 110 million doses of it and the Philippine gov has bought millions. It is a traditional vaccine and not an unproven MRNA vaccine like Pfizer. No one know the long term consequences of the MRNA vaccines. I am also am waiting for the mask mandate to be dropped nationwide in the Philippines. If governments used science they would know that masks, lockdowns and MRNA vaccines do nothing to stop the spread of the virus

if unvaxxed folks are effectively quarantined 24/7 at home what made anyone think that tourists would be able to waltz in unvaxxed ? it would make zero sense on any level for any country/region to allow that situation.

Hi Mark. I am going to Philipines in start september. The ticket from Denmark was not very expensive, about 1.000 dollars. I dont understand all the fuzz about the covid vaccines. I have got 3 shots like 82 percent of all danes. You say everybody have the right to be anti vaccine and offcourse you are right. But everybody dont have the right to travel to every place in the world. 12 years ago I was in China and the demanded a hepatitis A vaccination, and I got it. So this is not new. It is very simple for I just get vaccinated and there is no trouble anywhere. Have a nice day in Philipines.🥰

Hey Mark, good info. Haven’t really seen much change here in Angeles city either. I did see about a week ago, about 15 new 10-12 passenger vans all lined up on walking street about noon. Thinking they were going to be picking up passengers at the airport to bring them directly here to AC. Don’t know if booked or wishful thinking. But haven’t seen anyone new on the streets daytime. Hoping to make a trip down your way still, maybe 2-3 weeks. Have to find out how many hoops I have to jump through first. So will see you around before long.
