I am aware that there's an editing blooper at 1:55 :P
Unfortunately when I tried to fix and reupload, UA-cam's copyright system picked up one of the tracks as the 'extended mix', not the regular version, and outright BLOCKED the video, not just demonetised. Thanks UA-cam, your copyright system sucks.
Rather than take the song out entirely, I decided to publish this version of the video with the editing blooper left in

I've been waiting for a review of this amp. Did you try the amp by feeding it a Single Ended signal? Pretty sure you didn't say but I assume you were feeding it a balanced signal. Have you ever heard the premium version? I wonder how much that elevates the sound. Thanks for all your reviews. I'm also interested in the Trafomatic Primavera. Particularly with the Susvara and 1266.

I'd love to try the WA33 one of these days. For now, the Benchmark AHB2 is my preferred amp for my 1266phi (non-TC), and I think just about everything you liked about the WA33 could be said about the AHB2 (minus the slight tube coloration). The superconductor cable upgrade helps with the vocals. If you email the folks at Abyss, they'll even make you an adapter cable.

Golden I would recommend keeping all stock tubes other than the 274B with a Takatsuki which will increase soundstage. But if you want the very best I have the Elite model and upgraded to the KR AUDIO HP (high performance) tubes which includes 4 x 2A3 and 1 x 274B (make sure you use all KR tubes without the 274B sounds dull), and 6C45Pi Electro Harmonix Gold-pin Tubes. This combination is mind blowing specially with the Elite version. It makes the stock tubes sound extremely grainy and dull and would never look back. I’m running mine with the Chord Dave/ MScaler and with a upgraded Sean Jacobs power supply. This is my setup Niagara 5000 > Innuos PhoenixNet > Innuos Statement > USB out to MScaler > BNC WAVE STORM Reference > Dave > XLR Woo Audio WA33 Elite with upgraded KR HP tubes. I will be auditioning a MSB Premier DAC with Ethernet and PRO ISL USB cable connection very soon.

Greetings. How did you find it with the Bartok? I have the Bartok (and I love it) and I am considering adding some tubes at some point as the headphone amp within it is quite analytical and neutral.
I really enjoy it as it is but I feel that a light dose of tube sweetness (without losing all that information the Bartok extracts) would be very pleasing.
I appreciate you weren't really a fan of the Bartok but am still curious of your thoughts on that pairing since you mention you did try it.
I am using the Meze Elite's which I absolutely adore and they also sound very natural (like real life) to me so on paper I think they would all pair well together.

Absolutely, and you can also add an Auris Nirvana… I haven’t heard it’s equal with Sophia EL34 power tubes and a good replacement driver valve. The Abyss 1266 shines with it, as does the focal utopia.
As it only has three tubes you get a very inexpensive to tube roll amp… although not so inexpensive to buy of course. I should add that the benefit of a solid state power supply is very clean dead background, and avoidance of what happened to a bigger Ben amp I had previously where the rectifier valve filament blew and took out the power transformer. Not what you want to see.

In regards to not opening the WA33, I'd have loved to, as there's no pics of the inside available anyway, but if a manufacturer asks me not to do something, I won't do it.
I will tell my audience that the manufacturer has made that request, as I did in this video, but if I were to go ahead and open it without their permission then they'd have been well within their rights to demand I pay for the unit or costs of any retesting/refurbish, which I can't afford :P

@@razisn We only hear from ~20hz to 20khz yes. But that does not mean that only noise from 20hz to 20khz is an issue.
There are plenty of components within DACs and amps, and in fact even transducers, which can be negatively impacted by ultrasonic noise and cause degredation within the audible band as a result.
Clock oscillators for example can be affected by noise at several hundred khz and create audible jitter as a result.
If we are only focusing on noise passed from input to output then yes 20hz-20khz is all we need to look at, but DACs, amps and other devices are often not particularly simple and have dependencies elsewhere with demonstrable audible impacts.

@@-aexc- It depends entirely on the device.
You SHOULDN'T need a power conditioner yes. But that doesn't mean you DON'T.
I don't have it here because I think it makes a difference all the time. The vast majority of devices don't need it. But I have it here so that I know I'm comparing things on an even footing.
Additionally there are benefits such as transient current correction, and not to mention the non sacrificial surge protection.
To be honest the surge protection is the main reason I wanted one. One of my patrons had his mains go up to 5x the normal voltage for about 6 minutes straight.
Fried everything in his house including most of the stuff on various surge protectors.
But the stuff on his Audioquest and Furman conditioners was absolutely fine and both the devices and the conditioners switched back on.
