@@InvestedAdventure that's not up to date information, what I usually done is checking that specific place social media if there's any and look at the comments (there's translation feature nowadays) and the easiest is to check gmap review. But $10 the option is very limited 😂
10 dollars still looks like a good hotel in Jakarta, I've been to several other countries with prices above 10 dollars which are very dirty & scary, well understand cheap hotels

Try some old style hotels next time.. they were famous for the ghost stories.. not in Jakarta though. The haunting spirits of old time had fled the city, it's too crowded..
Sorry for the inconvenience. Jakarta ( a Business & Capital City) , is not Yogyakarta ("Kota Pelajar"/"Student City") . Those two cities have a quite different living costs. Please try to go to Yogyakarta. In Yogya there are many cheaper accomodations/hotels with good facilities . Thank you for traveling in Indonesia. Enjoy your adventure& take care.
I was going to do it in both, but I just didn’t feel like I could put myself through that when I was still in rough shape having been beaten up in Thailand 🤕 I’ll definitely give it a go next time!
No wonder if the hotel is not convenient, you stayed in very very cheap hotel. It is the lowest class buddy😂. If you choose a mid class hotel will be different story

Rule number 1. Always check review of the hotel from others tourist. Many cheap hotel only for local making "fun" in one hour.
