Hello - Thanks very much for watching and commenting, Yep space is at a premium, so sometimes you just got to double or triple up!!! I like having a fairly packed collection, so many things for your eyes to look at!
@@zombierepublican 4 main reasons: 1) I wanted to maintain the one-figure-per shelf look. 2) As the BLALIDENS are narrower than the width of the DETOLFS I was able to replace the 5 DETOLFS with 7 BLALIDENS giving me an extra 8 display cubes and allowing me to capitalise on the horizontal width of the wall. (Next step capitalising on the vertical space.) 3) I really like the black frames of the BLALIDEN. I think they frame the figures very well similar to the IKEA MILSBO I have downstairs in the living room. 4) The glass on the BLALIDENS is clearer than the DETOLFS from comparisons I’ve seen.
Been looking for a video on this display case with 1/6 scale figures in there, quality video great info cheers I actually prefer the look of these cabinets to the detolf, so great to see they actually function great video cheers 👍🏻
Fantastic to have you back, was worried for the channel , so delighted when I got that notification bell😀. You have done a brilliant job with this display, very neat and presentable, like it a lot, complete change from your last white shelving set up which I also liked. Looking forward immensely to your room tour and getting a sense of your new collection space. Wonder if you have your Harley Quinn bust?. Mind how you go and welcome back… delighted 😀
Hello Andrew, thanks, yes its been quite a while, but decided to move house at the beginning of the year, and spent most of it boxing everything up for the move in October, so there was little time and point in cracking open anything new to do a video! Thanks for your kind comments, as always very much appriciated and yeah, took a while to decide on the best way forward for a new display, but im overall happy with the end results. still have more to do and boxes to empty, but i'm close. I ended up cancelling the HQ bust, just couldn't justify the sheer cost with the house move, and in the end i wasn't convinced by the likeness, it's a lot of money for something that it not 100% accurate.
Awesome video - I'm also using Blalidens although for a much smaller collection (at least for now). Love to see you picked up 2 Iconiq Patrick Batemans, not many collectors have those so I'm thinking those will eventually become pretty rare for fans of American Psycho. I always keep mine in the 'try getting a reservation at Dorsia now' pose but such a great idea to display a second without the rain coat
Thanks very much. I wasnt convinced when they phased out detolf and switched to Blaliden myself, but after building and setting the collection up i much now prefer them. The AP figures are great arent they! Best versions on the market, and the accessories and options for poses are fantastic.
Did you ever consider Moducase or similar garage shelf displays? I started with Detolfs too but quickly outgrew them as I bought more 1/6 figures and my collection expanded to vehicles, props and larger scale statues. I finally made the plunge into Moducase but I saw several collectors made their own comparable DIY display cases at a fraction of the price. I do appreciate how the Detolf and Blaliden have a clean look and frames each figure without looking too cluttered.
Hello, yes it was something I thought of, but the main issue and deciding factor was the overall depth of these types of cabinets, it would draw my space too tight. Plus I couldn’t be doing with the wait and price of a moducase personally, maybe when I do gain a larger space it’s something i may consider.
Not bad,the black lining is nice, shame they're a bit smaller though, they must have known what a lot of people will use them for!,I've got a collection of both Hot toys but mostly 1/12th scale, but would possibly still try & make the bigger looking unit from shelving thats been shown in videos on here, good video, looking forward to the collection tour 👍🏽
Hello - No issues for me at all, and ive not had to modify or reinforce in any way. I used to have detolfs on similar cabinets for years which i believe were slightly heavier and again no issues.
Mate! This is very inspiring!!! Would you be so gentle to reply to my question? May I ask you wall size behind the 6 Blaliden? And the correct name of thw Kallax fings under the blaliden? The way you've composed everything is just pure jou for the eyes😍
Hello, thank you for watching and commenting, I do very much appreciate it. The overall wall size is, 2.8m length that’s from corner of the room to the edge of the door The actual width of the kallax and blaliden is 2.3m The height from floor to ceiling is 2.3m Hope that is helpful.
Hello and thank you! the Helmets do fit inside the cabinets, but not with the stands, they are too tall with them! But they still look great without the stands. The only one i couldnt fit was Darth Vader, but everything else seemed to fit.
Hey, out of curiosity how much weight are you putting in these shelves? I have a 2KG figure which I’m nervous to put on the glass as it looks quite thin 😅
Hello! Good question! I’ve not got a huge amount of weight on each of them, nothing above the 2kg figure, but I think that should be fine, according to ikea product page, the max weight limit is 3kg, which I would say personally that even that weight would be absolutely fine. So I think you will be fine with your 2kg figure. Hope that helps, cheers!
Very carefully!!! You are right, no wall mounts or fixings, but the cabinets are solid. The frame once built does give some robust stability to the cabinet overall, and when opening the doors, there is no real shake or movement in the cabinets.
Wonder how these would compare to the MILSBO’s, anybody? The top of that RUDSTA is perfect for a hot toys Dewback/ sandtrooper coming out soon or speeder bike, BARC speeders that I have.
Hello, No experience of the MILSBO's myself, but looking at them, they seem pretty decent for a good double cabinet alternative to give more width for bigger collectables. The RUDSTA's are perfect for out of cabinet items, which are big and heavy. Strong metal frames, so they take loads of weight, perfect for things like the bigger stuff, as you said Dewbacks, Speeder bikes etc.
Hello, I used some older LED strip ikea lighting that i already had, which unfortunately they no longer make. I forget the name, sorry, will comment back when i remember. However there are loads of available alternatives, just search for Detolf LED lighting - Luke lights seem to be popular and simliar to that i use.
Hello - Haha, i dont blame you, sometimes i dont even understand myself! I do try and be as clear and well spoken as i can, but you cannot take the scottish out of a scotsman!
No, I think it would be fine at ground level, although you may struggle to gain full view of anything on the bottom shelves, so I would recommend a riser, it also gives you a space to put cabling and plugs in for the lighting solution.
Im torn as liked your old display .i not keen these new ikea ones but it way you like them and it your collection .figures are great look forward new room tour
Hello! and thank you for commenting. It took quite a while for me to decide on a new display overall. I was originally going to stick with the open shelving, but in the end after much soul searching and research, i needed something that complimented my new home (as my space is within the kitchen / dining area) so this is where i ended up. Overall i'm really happy with the results, and its all worked out well, but there were some comprimises to make, but i'll talk through that in the room tour in the next few weeks!
Hello, no straight from IKEA, although I’m in the UK and they are still available, don’t know about other counties, it’s possible it’s not a range which is available in all countries.
Hello, well according to IKEA, each shelf has a weight limit of 3kg. I think that they could take a little more than that to be honest, but I wouldn’t risk anything more than say around 4kg. The bottom shelf isn’t glass, it’s the metal base of the cabinet, so I’d probably use the bottom section for the heaviest items.
Hello, just checked Ikea UK, and they are still listed and available: KALLAX Shelving unit, black-brown, 77x41 cm £29. Dont know about other countries if you are located outside of UK
@@g17collectables11 damn, we dont have the 77x41cm variant here, thanks for the response tho, i'm planning to add another blaliden with lukelights for hot toys lol
Hello, no not 100% dustproof, but I’ll be honest, after 6 months I haven’t seen a lot of dust in the cabinet at all, there are not a huge amount of gaps in the frame and door. However when I do have to dust I have a little hand held hobby vacuum which I picked up from Temu, which gets the job done. I’m thinking on doing a follow up video on living with the cabinets and how things are going 6 months in, so watch this space and I’ll cover dust ingress.
Finally found a video with more than one to a shelf! Love it

Thanks for this video. I had 5 DETOLFS and sold them on Wednesday to replace with 7 BLALIDENs. This was very informative. Subbed! 👍🏼
Why did you sell all the detolfs?

Nice looking cab's. The question remains, what is wrong with IKEA including a door 'gap' ? ..the whole point is to keep the dust out! ^_^
I know right! You would have thought IKEA would have done their homework and solved the gap problem!
