I installed engineered flooring on the ground floor of our home with the same seamless (no transitions) in four rooms, one hallway and a coat closet. It turned out really well. You stressed the importance of careful planning and careful measuring. Measure thrice! These are the ingredients for a successful installation. I would never have attempted the job without the lessons learned from you in the 5+ years seeing you on UA-cam. Nice that we share the same first name also 😊.
‘A frog in the throat’ is an American phrase that entered the language towards the end of the 19th century. The expression doesn’t have a fanciful derivation but comes directly from the fact that a hoarse person sounds croaky - like a frog. (You nailed it)
It was so sweet to see that floor come together, Ken ! Sandy was very thoughtful to think about your knees. Sometimes I think about purchasing volleyball kneepads for my knees! I love it when you said it’s always good when both sides agree kind of a good philosophy of life! You’re a wonderful carpenter and an excellent teacher. Hopefully a lot of younger folks are following along with you and learn the trade and all the little secrets that come with time and experience. Always a pleasure to watch!
I am only 64 and pretty disabled, but is doing a kitchen renovation. Every day is grace. Some slowly and somedays just not at all. When moving heavy things I call on friends to lend a hand. Yes I also installed with friends help a poly tunnel and the veggies look good. Have my doggie a Yorkshire/Maltese as company. These videos keep me motivated and every step forward is just so fulfilling. Thank you for sharing Ken. 🤗🙏
It's nice when the plan come togeather. I'm 86 years old and can't do much any more, so I watch you doing what I would like to do and really enjoying watching you show.
Terrific job done well Mr Ken. You know, just the other day I thought of mailing you a knee pad. Hooray for the Mrs in taking care of your knees. I use one all the time. It hurts on them knees sometimes. The flooring and walls look terrific!
Awesome job ,ken the new owners are going to be blessed with your amazing gift, and dedication to details in your carpentry...love the flooring looks great with the knotty pine...❤
We watch your channel and appreciate your skills. Just a note: my husband, in his 83 years have done many projects and was taught well... Never hit on anything full on, use something to hit on the object. Saw this while you finished the ceiling. Also yes do walls completely B 4 the flooring- saves time money and product to cover... Blessings
9:36 An extra row magically appeared I had to go back and check 🤗 Ken you are a phenomenal builder and an even better editor! I’m looking forward to the Vardo Camp build❕
Looking good Ken, laying the laminate over tar paper? Never seen this before. The knee pad provided by the wife was very thoughtful Ken, perhaps dinner out & maybe some flowers? I've always admired the level of fussiness you employ, the flooring looks beautiful. ❤ Bill...
Good morning 🙏 KEN Guten Morgan. My family is all from Germany 🇩🇪. I doeak Berliner German. Tell your wife Chris. DANKE UND ICH LIEBE DICH Thanks, and I LOVE YOU❤❤❤❤ I am so greatful you used the knee pad today. My knees were hurting just watching you. GOD BLESSED YOU WITH THE FLOORS. PERFECT FIT. AMAZING. GLORY BE TO GOD HALLELUJAH SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
Another great job, Ken. It is interesting watching you with each project that you do and I am learning quite a bit. Prayers that you keep safe and God bless.
That worked out well, no rip on the final run of the flooring and I liked the idea of the 15# felt vs the foam underlayment material too. The build is looking great !
Too bad you could only find enough boards to finish the one wall but I'm looking forward to seeing the flooring done! Nice pose of the pose on the shirt Ken! That was great that your wife bought you a knee pad! I like those tools you have to snap the flooring together. That close up of the joint was great to see. Beautiful demonstration! I really like the contrast of the flooring. Great notch work to get around the door opening, It's great to see you install the floor. Kaiya was cute watching you through the door and then standing near you. You got it done! Kaiya was dancing! The camp house is looking so incredible! Thanks for this video Ken!
You are the surgeon of carpentry. Do you ever have a hard time leaving behind what you build? It must be a bummer sometimes not being able to use or live in The shops cabins and homes that you build. This one for me would be tough because it’s just so tight and perfect. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for posting.
Your sore knees were making mine hurt! just like you, my knees don’t work very well anymore. I turned over a Home Depot bucket and sit on it, and when I need to be closer to the floor, I sit on my butt. i know men would never! 🤪 that Ken shed is beautiful!
House is looking good Ken. You should have allowed at least 1/4" for movement. Not in the floor, but in the house when you move and or unload it. The stresses could buckle the floor when the time comes!
I remember the early years of floor laminate it was under the name pergo and you had to glue it together with wood glue and then clamp it with strap clamps. A much better setup now.
I started in my half bath and worked into my guest room. It was complicated. I ran the flooring to the middle of the bathroom door and then continued all the way to the guest room wall. Then I had to work in two directions in the guest room. Not very different than your conundrum. I use d a LOT of blue tape to hold things together. Then I went to see my orthopedic nurse. She said don't do that again. But I still had to do the rest of the house. Then I went to see my orthopedic surgeon, and he said don't do that again. I have had the same artificial hip for 28 years.
That kneeling pad comes in handy. However, after your knee replacement surgery, my doctor said a person should avoid kneeling on the titanium knee replacement.
Oh man, the colors of the flooring and the walls go so well together! That looks awesome, Ken.
Glad you like it

Very interesting. Thanks.
Tiny house is like our first apartment 57 years ago you could sit on commode and cook your breakfast!
In my first apartment, I could sit on the toilet and brush my teeth.
Haha wow. Now that’s cozy!
Haha that’s great!
The wood grain on both the floor and the walls is gorgeous. Kaia looked so happy when you let her in!
Yes! Thank you!

Ms. Sandy, with yesterday’s video all I kept thinking of was “ouch” watching Ken on his knees without pads. 😂😂

Looks great. That flooring is a lot of fun in old houses. I loved the music at the end. It had kind of a French flair to it.
Thanks hahaha
I really like how the floor turned out. Those floors are so easy to clean. Just add a rug, if desired. Very nice looking. 🙂
Thanks for the tip!
Love the build, and your doggie loves you so much. Bet he’s a cuddler!!
Thanks. Kaiya loves attention
... that's how we pass the time away in the merry old land of Oz!

House is looking good Ken. You should have allowed at least 1/4" for movement. Not in the floor, but in the house when you move and or unload it. The stresses could buckle the floor when the time comes!
Thanks. The floor framing and sheeting won’t allow it to move in transport.
Very nice Ken. It looks great.
Thanks 👍
Ken It's Simply Superb

Thanks
I love the shirt. They caught your likeness perfect(ly). I also love the knee pad. My best regards to your wife.

I have a kneeling pad also. I should have had one years ago. Or the individual pads that strap on each knee. 😂
Right
I remember the early years of floor laminate it was under the name pergo and you had to glue it together with wood glue and then clamp it with strap clamps.
A much better setup now.

Ken is on the throne! King of Tiny House Kingdom!
Haha yes
A person could have 2 of these cabins set on a foundation and connect them with a breezeway.
True
That kneeling pad comes in handy. However, after your knee replacement surgery, my doctor said a person should avoid kneeling on the titanium knee replacement.
Thanks good to know
Awsome build Ken, what are you planning on doing next🎉🎉🎉
I think I’m building a Vardo wagon next
Beautiful!
Thank you!
