Saw Jimi live on my 17th birthday in 1968 in a smaller venue, something I'll never forget. Tickets were $3.......that's right $3. Caught him again in September of 68 in a huge arena and it was just as magical and the acid I dropped just made it that much better. I feel really fortunate to have seen the man perform his craft live.
Congratulations you just listened to one of the best recordings ever released anywhere! Even Bob Dylan loved Hendrix's cover of his song so much he actually changed the way he performed it! I've often said if I had to pick one song as my all time favorite it would be this !
Actually the beautiful thing about Stevie was that he was a library of those came before him. If you studied the arts you can hear him coping multiple styles from Hendrix to Clapton to Otis Rush, Albert king, BB, to Hubert Sumelin to many more. Each had their particular style you can hear in his playing. If to take from Hendrix (who did the same), means that, then yes.
Bob Dylan wrote this song and had his own version that was more folky and still good. But he even admitted that Jimi's version was what this song should sound like. Great music!
Bob Dylan also said that after he heard Jimi Hendrix version when ever he does the all along the watchtower at concert he plays it more like Jimi Hendrix version and even more so after Jimi Hendrix passing and I think he said he does more of a cover of Jimi Hendrix version of his song
Sad times. 12 views. If you would ask Stevie Ray Vaughan or Eddie Van Halen who they thought to be the greatest guitar player that has ever lived, they would both answer - Jimi Hendrix (born 1943-passes away 1970) . He wasnt just a guitar player. He was a musical genius. One of the greatest that has ever lived. No one did what he was doing at that time. Sadly his fathers gold digging wifes daughter - she is not realted to Jimi - has taken most of hes music and wants to make money out of it, so theres not much good stuff on youtube. But check this out: ua-cam.com/video/AgBxLy3fr94/v-deo.html You can hear a bit out of hes songs in the back ground. And for as long as this will be up, jimi hendrix (woodstock 1969) full concert ua-cam.com/video/_Nm1ptWaUEQ/v-deo.html Its a must see!
I had to check out Hendrix when he played with the Isley Bros. to see if he had the skills back then.. I caught a little glimpse of him doing a slide going down underhanded and then up the frets overhanded....Yep he was doing it back in 1965. Also, has a younger brother that plays guitar. Check it out...pretty damn good!
You know you are a genius when the person who wrote the song says, "it belongs to Jimi now." Bob Dylan would never say anything like that unless he meant it.
Sorry But this is the First greats Guitaris in the world. Who teache others how to playe on Electricguitars. Steve Vie and other greartgutirst in the world have to learn what to do or im wrong hehe ?
Sorry my friend, I can't watch you disrespect music as you do. Clap, sing, dance with it, great! Just don't stop the music unless you _have_ too. And SRV became great because of Jimi. Maybe even became "better"... because of Jimi. So, respect the music!
You don't listen proper! How come you don't have a joint, or a chunk of hash? Wadda ys doin, get some friends, get a bong, get loose and put some jimi on! Do it right come on!
In my opinion, this is the greatest cover of all time.
I agree, When the levee Breaks is also a good one!
@@ATRACAVIEJAS116 might actually be my 2nd favorite!

@@billhicks6449 one of the things that makes him such a special artist is taking those things and making them his own

If there had been no Jimi most of the guns that came later wouldn't be including Stevie. A true blueprint

Jimi was from '42.
All you have to do is listen to guitarist before Jimi an after to see what a huge influence he was.
Jimi grew up in Seattle,WA (Northwest). He studied all kinds of music and was also in the Army 1st Airborne.

This is easily the greatest song of all time
He says that he never heard the song before but he has a comment at every major key guitar lead in the song

All you Reactors need to be "EXPERIENCED" first to witness the paradigm shift

There are a lot of dope guitar players but nobody, I said NOBODY even comes close to Jimmi. True story people! By the way, you got a new subscriber.
Jimi also played Bass on this track and what a bass line, and 12 string acoustic.
Every great guitarist had Jimi Hendrix to look up to without him they wouldn't have them
This is good also try the song he did called Stop. The song you are reacting to is my one of my favorites

This song was used for every Vietnam war helicopter scene
its because the song was about Vietnam war,Jimi wrote this song when he was in Vietnam war
@@nipitiri5771 Bob Dylan wrote this song, the lyrics are based on the Old testment of the bible.
A game called mafia 3 introduced me to this. Im a teen and i kinda got hooked on older music because of the game

Srv was a baseline imitation of jimi and you will only hear his really good material is buy the album because they will not allow it on air!
react to Little Wing
You look like jimi
Hendrix better than SRV
Until you have heard Jimi, you haven’t heard a guitar.
Prefer this version to the original but, for me, changing Dylan lyrics is sacrilege! "Nobody of it was worth."???????
Put on some headphones dude you ain't heard it yet.
Stop interrupting the song! You’re losing the full effect. 😂
Too many interruptions and talking over the music is not good. But you both got better with time.
Too many interruptions fool
Some people could benefit from a judicious application of duct tape. Great song ruined by the reaction.
Too much stopping
