It was really weird to see how up until the 8 minute mark or so, Dark was behind on both tech and economy - less workers, about the same production capability, less upgrades, less until production options open. Infestation Pit completes, and his army supply just shoots up by +40 as he blows his entire bank on Swarm Hosts and after that cyan just dies.
It's because Swarm Host costs so much supply. Remember, Dark was holding on to the money for Swarm Hosts so cyan is rightfully ahead, but cyan didn't do anything with that advantage. Dark was just banking on cyan not being good enough to hold the Swarm Hosts, and he's right. Even during that fight in game 2, cyan couldn't micro several battles.
I remember the days of seige tank lines blasting endless waves of locusts forever. I both am nostalgic for that but also really really glad it isn't coming back
Swarm Hosts need a rework. I have an idea for one: Idea: Fulfill the fantasy of the Swarm Host - A Unit that spawns its own personal army from its back. This change will make swarm hosts more expensive, less oppressive as an offensive unit at first but a good defensive option, and after some investment, they can flex as both a monster on the offense and defense with massive swarms of flying locusts, being able to produce up to 8 locusts at a time instead of two at full energy. 1. Swarm Hosts now cost 100/100 and 4 Supply. Far more expensive at first but will become a more powerful investment as the game goes on. Also has new features to compensate. 2. Swarm Hosts now have energy, 50 starting and max 150. Spawn Locusts costs 25 energy and spawns 1 Locust. No longer has a cooldown. Pathogen Glands now also affects Swarm Hosts - Increases starting and total energy by 50. This accomplishes multiple things: Swarm Hosts can now either drop some locusts in a pinch, or save up energy and spawn a massive wave of locusts. This makes them less punishing for sitting around doing nothing when there isn’t really a whole lot going on in the game. This also makes Pathogen Glands feel better to purchase because you can get more value out of it, as oftentimes Infestors are made in tandem with swarm hosts, such as vs Mech or Protoss. 3. Locust Damage lowered from 10 to 6. Lasts for 15 seconds instead of 18. This is for late game balance to keep them from spiraling out of control on max energy. Because Swarm Hosts will reliably be able to pump out 3-4 locusts at a time, the damage has been lowered to compensate. 4. New Ability: Deep Tunnel. Swarm Hosts can teleport to any completed allied structure after a 3 second delay. Excludes Creep Tumors. Costs 100 Energy. This is to make Swarm Hosts a better defensive option as they can almost immediately be called to defend bases from run-bys in ZVZ and ZVP. The creep tumor exclusion is to avoid potential for cheese: Queen Nydus at the start of the game, Queen plants a tumor and gets out, creep doesn’t get cleared and the Swarm Hosts teleport to the tumor and wreak havoc. At the same time, Swarm Hosts can only reliably Deep Tunnel to one location at a time before running out of energy. Let me know your thoughts about these changes in the comments!
Interesting tho' being a non-player my self I wouldn't really know, I was wonder if you think Ultarlisk should have the "tower" ability from the abomination which was a thought I had when watch game's long ago when the ultarlisk was bad. Is it still bad or has something change?
@@williamking1081 Ultras don’t have Towering, but they do have an attack range of 1. This allows Zerglings to get right in front of them and for both of them to attack the same target. Ultras having towering would be nice because it’d provide even more protection for Banelings, but I wonder if that would make them too strong.
I think this idea is fun. Although, the first wave would be nice, but then they would idle for way to long to build up their energy? I would like to add that they can also produce scourge (but it costs minerals and gas) and maybe that the locusts costs minerals to build, like the carriers. But maybe that would make them too similar.
@@ledrash6079 The idea is that the swarm host would be able to build up energy at a rate consistent with their current cooldowns. Ideally, they would be able to produce one locust every 20 seconds or so, 2 every 40 which is about 3 seconds faster than they currently make them. This means you can either use all the locusts in a pinch for a quick attack or defense without needing to mass them, but you can also use them in waves consistent with their current capabilities. However, locusts will be slightly weaker to compensate for their newfound versatility.
There is a big difference between broodlords and swarmhosts. Both are free unit users, and have a similar dps overall, but this is because the locust have a short lifespan compared with broodlings. The thing that makes the difference its the broodling does like... no damage by itself Broodlord makes a ton of damage on hit and leaves the broodling as a plus. Meanwhile the swarhost uses the locust and nothing else
Host is also massively longer ranged. By the longest range in the game, when you consider the locusts' flying distance and ground lifespan. Brood Lords need to be on the same screen as what they're shooting at.
Lowko is right how crazy the difference is between top 50 and top 10 players. I see this in other esports as well where the top 100th person is closer to the average player than someone in the top 10.
Apparently because Dark's mandatory military service time is close he would have needed to get special permission to leave the country. I guess he would rather save the effort for Katowice instead.

Let's be real Lowko... you are NOT a "Cheeser" since you say the vast majority like 90%, hell even 80%, of your games are macro. And the small minority of games against wide MMR gaps resulting in you going for a quick win. IMO that's not even cheesy nor a cheap way to get a win... SC2 is a STRATEGY game and well, going for a quick win is simply you going for a strategy most people might not expect and/or might not have a lot of practice defending against. Plus when you boil down any RTS through the decades all share one thing in common, the core theme is war and in war even a sneaky less honorable attack can create a quick victory and victory is always the end goal. Thus someone using a cheesy build here and there but not as the regular go to is not a cheeser, a cheeser is someone who goes for cheesey a-hole builds all the time aka they are known to cheese and only long game macro when necessary. So someone like you Lowko, when you cheese a match its simply a smart strategy to play when necessary... its OK to cheese here and there... just not EVERYWHERE... lol xP
