    I feel so honored to be the first comment. All of my hard work and dedication has paid off. Getting the first comment has been a dream of mine for many years, and I would like to thank those who have helped me along the way. First and foremost, I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity. Next I would like to thank my parents. I want to thank my friend Peter Griffin for being really skinny and always there for me. I would also like to thank my pet tadpole for surviving against all odds for over a week. Next I would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my backyard for climbing trees because that gives me inspiration that I need to get through the day. This is a special moment in my life and I would like to thank any of my unmentioned friends and family that have helped me along the way. This moment will be a moment that I will never forget. I just remembered a few other people I would like to thank; Abraham Lincoln, the fish I caught in the third grade, my light in my room because I wouldn't be able to see the keyboard without it, the internet for letting me go on the bodybuilding forums, my house because without it I would be homeless, and last but not least, I would like to thank all the people out there that actually took time out of their day to read this. I cannot stress how much of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to be the first on a post for years, but that has not been possible until this amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked me how I did this, I would say, you can achieve anything you set your mind on. To all the kids out there reading this, I would like to tell them to follow their dreams. Being the first is truly amazing, thank you everyone.

      That makes zero sense. Ravens had zero utility during this game. Not sure we even watched the same game.
      I guess you could use turrets to absorb damage from broodlings. Anti Armor missile doesn't make much sense when you can't get close enough to do any damage.
      This is probably the only time I've ever been annoyed by a cheap win in a professional game. Obviously, not every zerg build ends with ~30 broodlords. The fact that the only way Dark knew he could win was by spamming a free unit that has no cooldown. A unit that can run the entire width of the screen and then keep creating more on top of those with zero risk is kind of sad.
      I believe Harstem said it best, rough paraphrasing, "Anything that spawns free units should be taken out of the game." This is basically like watching swarm hosts spawn locusts, they fly across the screen, then those locusts spawn more locusts, which spawn more locusts, etc.

    Should make up a metric like entropy-weighted apm, ie repeatedly pressing a key counts much less if it's predictable that the next action is same keystroke, if you're only using keys instead of clicks it counts less, if you're only using a group of keys it counts less etc. Should be a better measure of how much high speed complexity is happening and might reveal some interesting differences. To be clear you're describing most of the considerations that would go into such a measure, wrt many spellcasters etc.

    I feel like I know the answer (no), but do you think it's worth it for low level players to figure out this Broodlord micro vs turtle-y terrans? I recently played against a Terran that just turtled hard on this same map and it was very difficult to break.

    • @AConnorDN38416
      @AConnorDN38416 Рік тому +2

      Probably not just because there are so many things involved that you would have to practice that it would probably be more worth it just to work more on fundamental skills like taking good engagements. It’s not just having a lot of broodlords are being able to micro them correctly to make the trick work (which by itself is really micro intensive already), but to actually do damage with it you have to be able to control infestors, vipers, and queens for respreading creep tumors that you kill, requiring 4 separate control groups that you use simultaneously. This is why even Serral has only managed to use this trick sparingly. It requires godlike micro ability. It could be fun to try it out in the unit tester just to see if you can actually pull it off but I don’t see this being a viable strategy for most of us mere mortals.

      @svengalt9546 Рік тому

      Thats exactly what I was thinking. He had a whole 15 minutes to break out with a transition, and trading a few repair resources for the ability to kill a brood seems better than spending 100&100 to just kill tumors and spores. I should count the nukes and the cost of the damage they did.

    Would someone mind telling me what exactly the "creep spread" does for the Zerg? Why is it important for the player to take fights while they're on the creep? Like for example, the queens, why would you want them to be on creep when they fight rather than not? Any help would be appreciated :)

    • @user-km8mn1ii3m
      @user-km8mn1ii3m Рік тому +3

      Is it serious question? Well if yes, easy to answer: 1 vision. So you have advantage of range and positioning (like surround or backstabbing). 2 ground unit speed. Zerg units significantly faster on creep, and since most of them are melee it benefits greatly, 3 queens can only transfuse on creep. So high level Zerg can heal damaged units like ultralisks or broods. There is famous video, when one ultra survived whole Terran army, being transfused by like 20 queens. 4 ground units regenerate faster on creep. But it does not matter much during battle

    • @william_sun
      @william_sun Рік тому

      Specifically in regards to taking fights, Zerglings and Banelings have a 1.3× movement speed multiplier when on creep, and Queens are unable to use Transfusion when off creep. The movement speed boost allows Zerglings and Banelings to take fewer hits while closing distance, allowing more of them to reach opposing units. Zerglings have an easier time surrounding small groups of opposing units on creep, preventing them from retreating, and Banelings have an easier time chasing down retreating units on creep (and require faster reaction times when splitting units against them or picking up units to flee from them). Transfusion allows Queens to keep high-value units alive longer in the middle of fights.

    • @soggycheese8485
      @soggycheese8485 Рік тому

      1. Vision
      2. Queen transfuse only on creep
      3. Speed. Melee units get kited against ranged units and zerglings and banelings need to close the gap asap. Creep's bonus move speed (though the bonus may seem small) turns it from a cakewalk for terrans to kite lings and banes to "maru-like micro" to kite lings and banes

    • @mr_clean575
      @mr_clean575 Рік тому

      I think the other responses covered it pretty well. I would just emphasize just how dangerous it can be for the terran to push onto the creep before clearing it. Since the zerg can see everything and have a speed boost, it is easier to create surrounds and concave set-ups around the terran army. This gives the zerg a lot of time to prepare for defense when terran try to go for a counterattack. So you either have to accept the consequences of fighting on creep, or you have to slow down and take out the creep first(which also requires detection). So it’s a real Catch 22. Creep is strong for sure.

    • @Daniel-rd6st
      @Daniel-rd6st Рік тому

      In addition to what the others said, it also prevents non Zerg to build on it. So if you manage to get creep on a potential opponents base location, he needs to get detection to clear it.

    - time to switch between modes and immobility during siege mode
    - inflexible targeting area
    - slow rate of fire and overkill against broodlings
    - costly build in time and gas
    Those 2 tanks and 6 libs could have been what, 12 hellbats in terms of supply, in addition to the handful that were already on the ground?
    Imagine that nuke at 34:10 were immediately followed by a dozen plus stimmed hellbats charging forward, burning a path through spore crawlers and broodlings, focusing micro on splitting against baneling counter attacks. That would punch a hole through the chokepoint for the thors to safely cross and get under the lords. And replacements could be cranked out and sent to the front way quickly. What's the downside?

    Agreed, SC2 spellcasters are really too good. It's funny that protoss, the race of "psionics", have the most balanced spellcasters too... though feedback the same issues. But when spells do a lot of damage, they're going to start overshadowing regular units, just like heroes in WC3.
    The problem, imo, is that infestors and ghosts do instant and stackable damage. Psionic storm not having stackable damage AND doing damage over time makes it at least not broken in the sense that getting 12 of them and good micro wins games. But parasitic bomb (at least you can micro to mitigate the overall damage, it's mostly fine), fungal growth, snipe and EMP having basically guaranteed damage makes them too good. When you can do 30 to 100 damage per click, at 10 clicks per second, that damage potential jumps significantly. Versus vanilla units whose DPS can never be increased via micro. Much like you can't micro storm to higher damage.
    I hope Stormgate learns from SC2 and makes their spellcasters have some way for the opponent to interact and mitigate the damage or effects with good micro. It makes for more interesting games and moves away from spellcasters becoming too large of a core.

      He was kind of in an awkward position with the command center blocking their path, creating a choke on the side. He tries to go in but the fungals really use that choke. I guess he was trying to evacuate the ones he could instead of focusing on trying to snipe. Snipe also gets interrupted by damage so he may not have had time to channel it, especially with the amount of infestors that could keep using fungal growth. Keep in mind that he also just saw the broodlords for the first time ten seconds earlier. I definitely think he could have gotten a few snipes off tho if he was a little quicker

    Why didn't the Zerg go around the top side of the Terran's side and take out his ghost academy or stop him firing nukes? that was the only thing keeping the Terran in the game, the threat of nukes. it may not have been successful, but it would have given the Terran something else to think about.

Range from those things literally out ranges ghosts nukes hell even tempest if they could target tempest. Terrans are just too scared against that kind of play. You don't waddle your troops when the broods come knocking, you place your hellbats on hold position and single target the flappies down with your thors. You need like merely 5 Thors to 1 shot a broodlord, so every single trade will be advantageous if you just keep your thors in place and shoot.

They couldn't fall back, the Broods would continue being micro'd and kill them from behind. It was a no-win situation, and it just took Cure a long while to see that.

    • @matiashamalainen4574

      @@shadoweddragonfilms4424 You only need around 3 thors to effectively trade. The thors certainly had enough space, but the operator seemed to think that they didn't and was hesitant to shoot and whenever he did finally start shooting they started instantly rekking the brood they were targeting, but at that point the broods were already retreating. When the broods come to your position you always stay and shoot, because you can always get free hits in before they are in range. You never need to "push up" with thors.
