What I love about you, Nick, is your passion. These lessons are pure love from you to us. It is so apparent watching you that you love your art and want others to find their own passion for creating fashion. Thank you for putting in the hard work to create these lovely lessons. I hope you receive generous compensation, not only in the satisfaction you might derive from knowing you are helping possible up-and-comers but in advertising revenues as well. Kudos.
OMG, this video couldn't of come at a better time. I am making my 1st collection and as a designer, pattern maker, seamstress was wondering how to organize myself in order to make use of the one seamstress I hired. This is perfect. I really admire you and enjoy your charm. mil
You have passion (love) for fashion and so do you share it so others can learn . I eyes just catched this lesson of your, I have never understand lesson like i did this morning. On my way from work, entering bus , dropping and join train all still watching this lesson though with ear piece. switching off and on, when entering or dropping off. I will buy the book. I have already shared it to my sister, she has a sewing place shas little experience of sewing. And she likes dress up. Thank you so much. Amelia from Sweden.
Nick, your video series is amazing. I'm trying to learn to sew for design, and finding quality information on draping is extremely difficult at the hobby level. The combination of "here are the basics" plus injecting your insights from years of experience make this the best series I've seen on draping, hands down, and I've watched a lot. Each video of yours I've watched has undoubtedly saved me hours of headache and a good deal of money in mistakes I'll never have to make. Keep doing you, boo.
Shalom Nick. You just make my day. I love your tutorials. You have such a pure heart and you are so happy. thank you for the teachings. I am 56 years old always wanted to be a fashion designer, became a civil contractor. How funny is that. still when my family needs evening gowns, I still make it. I think it is in my blood. taught myself. Have a fantastic day. Bless you in Yeshua's Name
Im just starting my journey in dress making....kinda professionally i already know how to sew but i wanted to learn draping and design and all that stuff thats intimidating......you dont make it look easy but you make it understandable. You show how to really do stuff and not tech book stuff. You show what they don't show you. So thanks you have inspired me and took a lot of doubts away. See you on the runway!
Nick,I cant thank you enough for taking the time out to give people like me an inspiring Fashion Designer seamstress advice and knowledge to be the best at what I love to do! Thank you 💖💖
Thank you for all this ,it helps me a lot, as i was wacthing all your videos ,i learned some ideas in making gowns, i am sewer here in dubai, again thank you sharing
Thank you so much Nick, I enjoy every video you make and your smile is so contagious 😊. I would like to be your seemstress, so lucky she is to work with you. ☺. I also want to tell you that I'm french so I don't speak english very well but, oh, I understand all what you're saying. Does sewing an universal language is? Finally, I have a question: are there many types of muslin? I ask this because the cotton muslin is different of a mousseline de soie for example, the "tombé" is not the same, so how can we appreciate the final result at the sample in muslin step? Thank you so much, bisous.
Thank you for the compliments!! As for your question: You want to purchase/use fabric that is most similar to the fabric you will use in the final garment. All fabrics will be slightly different so you will never be 100% accurate but you can get pretty close. When draping a knit dress use knit fabric, when draping a satin dress use a cheaper satin fabric ( or I often use a very thin cotton), etc, etc.....
Nick, your tutorials are so engaging, entertaining, and informative! I love seeing your fashion point of view while you teach. So fantastic, truly! If I could ask for one thing, it would be some menswear. Pretty please, would you do one (or ten) menswear videos?!?!? Pretty please?!?!
Thank you Nick! I enjoy every one of your videos. I went to school for pattern making long long time ago in another country however, I had never work on the dress industry. I always work in the Lingerie line. it was what I found when I firs arrived to the US. I love and enjoy lingerie however, I would love to create a line of dresses kind of those dresses from the 70's summer dresses. very Tropical Style Design Dresses. I love the way you explain and I will be watching your videos. I LOVE YOU!
Nick!!!!!!!!! I love, love your video!!!! You are amazing!!! Love your teaching for the muslin, you explained it to be so easy and fun to follow!!!! I'm now a subscriber
I feel that window shopping for fabrics can lead to some great ideas. However it's probably best that you figure out a basic design first so you don't buy fabric and end up not using it.
Hi Nick its my first time to watch your videos, in your almost 7mins vid. tutorial i've learned and i laughed! 😁 your so fun to watch your tip and trick is so helpful! i'm already a dressmaker and i want be a designer your videos helps me pursue my dream even in out of school haha!.. thank you nick ❤️
Thank you so much for all your informative videos, Sir Nick!!! I'm a Fashion Design student from Manila, Philippines and I've started watching your videos since before i enter college and until now it's very helpful :) God Bless on your career Sir Nick!! I know someday I will also create videos like these and share my talent and passion to the Fashion Industry worlwide!!! :) :-D
Thanks Nick you are so great at explaining everything and so positive. Could you please make video on draping a womens blazer or jacket, or anything with SLEEVES.
at last i found someone i can enjoy listening and learning ! i really love your way of sharing your talent! if youre only here on the philippines id love to go to your fashion school❤
more than anything I luv to watch ur videos coz I get positive vibes... u r a pure soul...wish to meet u someday if money n distance permits...hahaha..luv u..u rock! :-)
I just love your videos and your designs, they are always so elegant. I myself love designing at home and have come across a question I wanted to ask you. How do you get inspiration for a design(s) or a collection?
I just stumbled on to some of your videos. I am enjoying them. I design and fabricate Window Fashions, so I know what you are speaking of in maybe sewing your muslin more than once. ( I call it my mock-ups ) I love the created angles on the dress shown, but I couldn't just stop there with that dress-I would have to embellish! ( a personal thing!) I also watched the video where you slashed the pattern for draping...( my first sewing was dress making for my cheap barbie knock-offs! They were cheap dolls, but they dressed well! ( so I love clothing design !) I have made my own cloths, but never have worked with a mannequin, is there a rule of thumb on how much allowance for ease of movement in a fitted dress?
I absolutely love all your videos Nick I'm going to buy your book soon and hopefully eventually will be able to study at fidm but I'm confused since you are pinning the fabric to the dress form how do you keep the same shape when you or your sewing person takes it from the dress form?
What I love about you, Nick, is your passion. These lessons are pure love from you to us.
