It would be great if somebody would give some type of price reference. Its damn near impossible to pick a plan when you have no idea what that particular design might cost. A general price range would be helpful!
I agree. And every time they show a building, it tells you to click a tab for the price, it then you have to jump through a million hoops. Really frustrating.
It’s so variable that’s why no one does. It’s like saying “what’s a car cost “. Are we talking a 20k little car or a 200k Mercedes??? Also is soooo variable based on location as well.
Ive seen her home and its beyond beautiful but a lot of that is also because shes a great interior designer I would hire her in a heart beat to help me build my home from top to bottom!
$70 sq foot is the shell cost not the turn key cost, it's easy for non builders to hear that and then pass on the details incorrectly. I don't think any builder is saying that to any customer.
I had a good friend who got very excited when he saw my Dad's pole barn here in Pennsylvania and he looked into using this for a house he wanted to build. He decided against it, because he found out that there's a 40 year expiration on the structure. I'm here for someone to refute this idea of the limited time that your building would remain sound?
As a Florida Native who has lived through several hurricanes with winds as high as 130mph... I'm curious how strong to our Florida Wind Load Codes they are? What is the extra cost in steel framing that would be needed to strengthen it for future hurricanes of winds pushing 155mph?
I think it still is. Steel has become more expensive after COVID because of the sourcing (according to our contractor who erected our barndo in 2020). BUT the long-term energy savings and weather protection barndos provide are well worth it if the cost is similar to stick/traditional custom home. The open lofted living areas is what made us pull the trigger. Our contractor who spray foamed our house said he’s seen metal frame structures with spray foam survive tornadoes while traditional homes were severely damaged. 🤷♀️
It honestly is because you are gonna get a better quality home for cheaper. Metal buildings are built to a great standard and are far easier to air seal and insulate than traditionally framed homes. It's gonna be a more efficient home that you can more easily control the air quality of.
You shouldn't pick them for price, you should pick them because they do things a traditional house can't. Like having a large shop right in your house, or doing things that only a steel beam structure is strong enough to do
I had a friend build one. It was a nightmare trying to GC out all of the trades and the interior fixtures, appliances, lighting, fans, cabinetry, toilets etc are not part of it. Theres a lot of extra costs and do it yourself or order yourself components to these people don’t realize with these. They are 100% beautiful but 200% more work than you think
Nice video Thanks. At the near end of the video, the photo of the garage door in the living area on the outside deck the black and glass door. What is the namebrand and or you still using the same one or have y’all found one that is maybe as good or even better.?
Not sure where this is at she's referring to? Worked on houses here in PA not an urban area either, these houses were 750k plus easily for just 350sq ft without any nice big shop or pole barn in addition to the house! Show me a $750k barndo and it would look like a palace, nevermind the awesome shop! Id think that you could easily go 150 to 200 per sq ft!

There is no such thing as a pre-built barndo. The closest you have is plans for a barndo that save you a lot of the architectural and design work. This company can handle the design and possibly help you find contractors for the build, thebarndominiumcompany.com/
Hello, check their website: thebarndominiumcompany.com They have amazing plans for Barndominiums. We sell the metal roofing and siding commonly used for these projects. WesternStatesMetalRoofing.com
The vague response to the repeated questions as to savings was basically the most helpful. “Yeah, so if you don’t GC it…. You’re probably looking at the same cost if not more…” Silly of me to think they would make housing more affordable.
Why do people want black and white answers to custom homes? There are infinite options to choose from. If you want a set price for a set plan look at prefab, good grief
@@Horse-c2t because there are countless ways to build a house so asking to compare two totally different methods, each with its own pros and cons and costs, is silly
Rewatch the video, you get more house for that price and it does things a wood house can't do. If you just want the cheapest house you can find go prefab
Most cell phones have the ability to use Wifi calling. If you have a good Wifi router, and add in repeaters for areas in your home that are too far from the router to maintain good signal, then you shouldn't have a problem.
Also, you can add a repeater to the roof of the building and your phone will work perfectly. Even better than normal in most cases as the repeater has an easier time connecting to far off cell towers as it’s up in the air and is usually a bit more powerful (if that’s the right word!) than a cell phone. We had to do this when we built our shop about five or six years ago. As soon as you walked in it was zero signal. Once we added the repeater, it was full bars in all corners of the building. No problem. It wasn’t that much money either if I remember correctly.
If she said it cost about $200.00 per square foot, would you understand? The cost estimate to build is so open to many options. People who work in the industry understand what she is saying. There is no salad.
It would be great if somebody would give some type of price reference. Its damn near impossible to pick a plan when you have no idea what that particular design might cost. A general price range would be helpful!

120-200 per square foot
their prices are the best around. I had no problems. do you know what you want? style , size, amount? just call them.
Call a home builder & ask them the sq ft price in your area.
FWIW, they're not any cheaper than a stick built house. You can do more yourself though.
Ive seen her home and its beyond beautiful but a lot of that is also because shes a great interior designer I would hire her in a heart beat to help me build my home from top to bottom!

This was great, such a talent and I learned so much about barndominiums. Thank you for the wealth of information.
This was very informative. Q& A's were very helpful & brought up points I hadn't thought of....

He decided against it, because he found out that there's a 40 year expiration on the structure. I'm here for someone to refute this idea of the limited time that your building would remain sound?
Hey Amy 👋how're you doing today?
Ask yourself, how long does steel last?
As a Florida Native who has lived through several hurricanes with winds as high as 130mph... I'm curious how strong to our Florida Wind Load Codes they are? What is the extra cost in steel framing that would be needed to strengthen it for future hurricanes of winds pushing 155mph?
One thing I have not seen anyone address is lighting protection for these metal buildings. Is that a consideration in the electrical design?
Everything in the building would be grounded. It’s the case for both commercial and residential building regardless
Thanks for the info! I really thought this was a much cheaper option than a traditional build. Back to the drawing board....
Used to be. Now that they're more popular, the builders got greedy and charge more to make more. Typical american way is to get rich overnight

Lots of facts, thanks
Thinking about post frame for the price but live in Texas. Why do you say steel in the south?

Theres a lot of extra costs and do it yourself or order yourself components to these people don’t realize with these. They are 100% beautiful but 200% more work than you think
Sounds like poor planning, honestly
Why do you think they are beautiful though? They look trashy to me
Can you please recommend a few banks that loan for Barndominiums?
The one down the street from me is pretty good. Ask for Bob, he's nice.
A lot of people are getting tubular steel structures as their Barndo builds, because you can get a shell for $20 a sqft.
Nice video Thanks. At the near end of the video, the photo of the garage door in the living area on the outside deck the black and glass door. What is the namebrand and or you still using the same one or have y’all found one that is maybe as good or even better.?
What are about taxes
This is so informative and interesting. Thank you for posting!

Curious! Are you a sitting duck for lighting being out in the open in the metal building?
Do you worry about lightning when you go to the huge metal walmarts and home depots? Of course they ground the buildings
What about a basement??
Checking out the website now, could anyone please tell me the name of the floor plan at 4:20?
That's a question for this company, ourbarndominiumlife.com. Give them a call.

Great video 🎉
Awesome video
Can you recommend a website that has already built Barndominums for sale?

Northern Maine??
Roughly about how much for a 5 bedroom home
Who is the guy? He looks so familiar.
Hey do you sell blue prints

The amish build 3000Sqft traditional homes in a week where I grew up haha.
😅okay😅
Infomercial sales job. I'm probably going to build a barndominium, but this video wasn't helpful at all.
The vague response to the repeated questions as to savings was basically the most helpful. “Yeah, so if you don’t GC it…. You’re probably looking at the same cost if not more…” Silly of me to think they would make housing more affordable.

Wait so it’s the same costs as building a traditional building? Said in the disadvantages. That’s ridiculous. It’s a barn.
Rewatch the video, you get more house for that price and it does things a wood house can't do. If you just want the cheapest house you can find go prefab
steel erected residence
Just to throw this out there metal bldgs will kill your cell signal and wifi signal.
Wow really! That’s something to think about for sure!
Not always

Good!!that way the kids will get out of the house!
So she gives a lot of nothing if you're looking for an actual price to build. Word salad doesn't sell a home.
If she said it cost about $200.00 per square foot, would you understand? The cost estimate to build is so open to many options. People who work in the industry understand what she is saying. There is no salad.
I feel as though I just wasted 16:39 minutes of my life. She is very good at saying almost nothing.
